35.2ft³ for Two Dogs The DB-4848N is 48" by 48.25" and 28.25" tall, rated by UWS at 35.2ft³, with two doors. It drops into a full-size pickup bed and gives your dog a fixed, solid place to travel instead of loose in the bed or crated on the back seat.
Northern Style: Fully Enclosed Against Wind and Snow UWS calls this the northern style. Where the open-slat boxes are built for airflow, this one is a more complete enclosure that keeps wind and snow out, which is what you want hauling dogs in cold weather. UWS fits access ports in the floor so the box can be washed out and drained without tipping it.
Lockable Storage Compartment on Top The upper section is a separate lockable compartment for the small kit that otherwise disappears: tracking collars, whistles, training dummies, leashes and leads. It uses a RigidCore foam-filled lid and a paddle handle, so it is a proper tool box sitting on top of the dog box rather than a tray.
Extra-Thick Welded Aluminum The box is built from extra-thick aluminum, welded rather than fastened, which UWS specifies for rigidity so the structure protects the dog from injury and from the weather. Aluminum also keeps the weight down, at 103 lb, and it will not rust in a bed that spends its life wet.

There is no vehicle-specific mounting kit and no year, make and model list: what matters is that your bed floor is at least 48" by 48.25" clear and that you strap or bolt the box down yourself, because a 103 lb box with a dog in it must not be loose. UWS's own guidance splits the range into a northern style, which is more fully enclosed to keep wind and snow out, and a southern style, whose wider gaps between the rungs increase airflow to keep temperatures down. This is the northern, enclosed model. Choose on climate, and always check on a dog traveling in an open bed in extreme heat or cold.

The box is free-standing and UWS supplies no bed-specific mounting kit. Secure it anyway: a 103 lb box with a dog inside must not be able to slide or tip under braking, so run ratchet straps to the bed's tie-down points or bolt it through the bed floor. Lift it with two people. Give the dog time to get used to the box before a long trip, keep water available, and never leave a dog in a bed box in extreme heat or cold.

About UWS
UWS is short for United Welding Services, and the name is the point: every UWS box starts as flat aluminum sheet and is welded into a single-piece tub rather than riveted or folded together. The company builds at its own plant in Perry, Florida, and it has been supplying the truck accessory trade long enough that the diamond plate box with the blue UWS badge is a familiar sight on job sites. Two pieces of engineering separate a UWS box from a generic aluminum one. The first is the patented RigidCore lid: instead of a hollow shell, the lid is a pair of aluminum plates completely filled with a hardening, expanding foam, which sets into a solid structure and stops the lid bending, warping or binding after a few years of being leaned on. The second is the MicroSeal gasket, which lines the entire seam where the lid meets the tub and keeps water, dust, grit and insects out of the box rather than merely slowing them down. Both are backed by a limited lifetime warranty on the box, with one year on the finish and one year on the parts.

If your priority is maximum airflow in hot weather rather than shelter from wind and snow, UWS's southern-style open-slat boxes are built for that instead.
Will it fit my truck?
The box is 48" by 48.25", so it drops into a full-size bed comfortably. On a mid-size truck it is tight to impossible; this one really wants a full-size bed. There is no vehicle-specific mounting kit, so it sits on the bed floor and you secure it yourself.

Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

I really like this mat. I was apprehensive at first but, the mat does a great job of keeping things from sliding around without having to secure it. perfect fit. But i think i will be adding some short screws to secure the mat to the DECKED system.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.
