The UWS tote box is a portable aluminum chest for the tools that move between the truck, the shop and the job. It measures 21" x 12.25" x 7" over a 20" x 11.5" tub, holding 0.8ft³. The shallow tub keeps hand tools in a single layer where you can see all of them at once. It is built the same way as the truck boxes: extra-thick, corrosion-resistant aluminum with a diamond plate lid, a folding carry handle on top, and a stainless steel twist latch that takes a padlock. Like every UWS aluminum box it is designed, fabricated and welded in Florida. Note that this item ships freight rather than parcel.

The latch is stainless steel and is designed to accept a padlock, so you choose the level of security. There is no keyed cylinder in it, which means there is nothing to corrode or jam. A padlock is not included.
Folding Carry Handle
A sprung handle on the lid that folds flat when you are not carrying it, so the box still stacks and nothing catches on it in the bed.
Designed, Fabricated and Welded in Florida

Nothing to fit. If you want to secure it in a bed or a trailer, run a strap or a cable through the handle, or bolt it down through the floor of the tub with your own hardware. A padlock for the twist latch is sold separately. UWS is explicit that a tool box is not a place for flammables or hazardous material, so no fuel cans, solvents, propane or cutting torches. Never load past the vehicle manufacturer's rated capacity.

About UWS
UWS is short for United Welding Services, and the name is the point. The aluminum boxes in this line are designed, fabricated and welded in Florida rather than assembled from imported panels, and the tub is formed from one piece of extra-thick aluminum so there is no seam along the floor of the box for water to work its way into. UWS is part of the CURT Group, a Lippert company, which is what puts a national warranty and a real replacement-parts program behind a box that is still built in a single plant. Handles, gas struts, lid gaskets, striker brackets and keys are all cataloged parts you can buy years later, which is the practical difference between a box you repair and a box you replace.
A tote is the simplest thing UWS makes and it is a fair test of whether the construction claims are real. The tub is one piece of extra-thick aluminum with a diamond plate lid, it weighs 8.800 lb empty, and it is built to be thrown in a bed and dragged out again rather than kept nice. The twist latch is stainless steel and takes a padlock, so it locks as hard as the padlock you put through it. There is no keyed lock built in, which is the honest trade for a latch that has nothing to seize up.
