The UWS Truck Tool Box Tie-Down Side Rails are a pair of molded rails that bolt onto the lid of a UWS tool box you already own and give you tie-down anchor points where the lid previously offered none. If the problem is simply that there is nowhere to hook a ratchet strap over the box, this is a much cheaper answer than a bed rack. They are molded from black UV-stabilized, glass-filled nylon, so they hold their strength in sunlight and cannot corrode against an aluminum lid, and each rail measures 18-1/4" long, 2-3/4" wide and 3-1/2" tall. The mounting hardware is rubber-coated, which matters more than it sounds: it seals the holes you put through the lid so a weather-tight tool box stays weather-tight. UWS rates the rails at 50 lb and states plainly on its own drawing that they are not to be used as a hand rail. They fit UWS tool boxes with a 3/4" x 45° chamfered lid and a minimum width of 18-1/2", so check your lid's edge profile before ordering. Unlike UWS's aluminum boxes, which are welded in Florida, these rails are made in China, and they carry the same limited lifetime warranty.

Features
Adds Tie-Down Points to a Box You Already Own The UWS-TBTD is a pair of molded rails that bolt to the lid of an existing UWS tool box and give you anchor points where there were none. If you already have the box and just need somewhere to hook a ratchet strap, this is a far cheaper answer than a bed rack.
50 lb Weight Limit, and UWS Says So Plainly UWS rates the rails at 50 lb and prints "do not use as a hand rail" on its own dimension drawing. Treat them as cargo anchors for light gear, not as a step or a grab handle.
Black UV-Stabilized, Glass-Filled Nylon The rails are molded from black UV-stabilized, glass-filled nylon rather than plastic or bare steel, so they hold their strength in the sun and cannot corrode against an aluminum lid.
Rubber-Coated Hardware Keeps Water Out of the Box The mounting hardware is rubber-coated, which seals the holes you make in the lid. That detail is the whole difference between an accessory that works and one that turns a weather-sealed tool box into a leaky one.
Check Your Lid Before Ordering These fit UWS tool boxes with a 3/4" x 45° chamfered lid and a minimum width of 18-1/2". That covers a lot of the UWS range but not all of it, so look at the edge profile of your lid before you buy. Each rail is 18-1/4" long, 2-3/4" wide and 3-1/2" tall.
Fitment & Compatibility
Application
Fit
UWS tool boxes with a 3/4" x 45° chamfered lid, 18-1/2" wide or more
✓ Yes, this is the published fit.
UWS boxes with a different lid edge profile
✗ No. The rail is molded to sit on the chamfer, so the edge profile has to match.
Tool boxes from other manufacturers
✗ Not published by UWS. Measure your lid's chamfer and width before assuming it will fit.
Load
● 50 lb limit. UWS states plainly that these are not to be used as a hand rail.
Mounting hardware
✓ Included, with rubber coating to stop water entering the box through the new holes.
Fit guidance: These rails fit UWS tool boxes whose lid has a 3/4" x 45° chamfered edge and is at least 18-1/2" wide. That is a real constraint rather than a formality, because the rail is molded to seat on that chamfer, so look at the edge of your own lid before ordering. Each rail is 18-1/4" long, 2-3/4" wide and 3-1/2" tall. Installation puts holes through the lid of a weather-sealed box, which is why UWS supplies rubber-coated hardware; use it. The 50 lb limit applies to the cargo you anchor, and UWS prints "do not use as a hand rail" on its own drawing.

Installation
Type: Bolt-on to the lid of an existing UWS tool box, using the supplied rubber-coated hardware · Time: About 30 minutes · Tools: Drill with the bit size called out on the installation sheet, tape measure, marker, socket or wrench set · Difficulty: Easy, DIY-friendly
Check first that your lid has the 3/4" x 45° chamfered edge and is at least 18-1/2" wide, because the rails are molded to seat on that chamfer. Mark and drill from the template on the UWS installation sheet, deburr the holes, and fit the supplied rubber-coated hardware: that coating is what stops water running into the box through the new holes, so do not substitute plain bolts. Torque by hand, do not overtighten into the nylon, and keep the 50 lb limit in mind once the rails are on.

About UWS
UWS is short for United Welding Services, and the name is the point: every UWS box starts as flat aluminum sheet and is welded into a single-piece tub rather than riveted or folded together. The company builds at its own plant in Perry, Florida, and it has been supplying the truck accessory trade long enough that the diamond plate box with the blue UWS badge is a familiar sight on job sites. UWS is part of the CURT Group, which in turn belongs to Lippert, so behind a fairly specialized Florida welding shop sits a full national parts and warranty network.
Two pieces of engineering separate a UWS box from a generic aluminum one. The first is the patented RigidCore lid: instead of a hollow shell, the lid is a pair of aluminum plates completely filled with a hardening, expanding foam, which sets into a solid structure and stops the lid bending, warping or binding after a few years of being leaned on. The second is the MicroSeal gasket, which lines the entire seam where the lid meets the tub and keeps water, dust, grit and insects out of the box rather than merely slowing them down. Both are backed by a limited lifetime warranty on the box, with one year on the finish and one year on the parts.
Prestige Truck is an authorized UWS dealer. Every item we ship is new, in the original UWS carton, and covered by the full UWS factory warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
Will the UWS-TBTD fit my tool box?
It fits UWS tool boxes whose lid has a 3/4" x 45° chamfered edge and is at least 18-1/2" wide. That is a genuine constraint, because the rail is molded to seat on that chamfer, so look at your lid's edge profile before ordering. UWS does not publish a fit for other manufacturers' boxes.
How much weight will they hold?
50 lb. UWS prints "do not use as a hand rail" on its own dimension drawing, so treat these as anchor points for light cargo rather than as a step or a grab handle.
Do I have to drill my tool box?
Yes. The rails bolt through the lid, which is why UWS supplies rubber-coated hardware: the coating seals the new holes so water cannot run into a box that was previously weather-tight. Use the supplied hardware rather than plain bolts.
What are they made of?
Black UV-stabilized, glass-filled nylon. That combination holds its strength in sunlight, will not corrode against an aluminum lid, and does not mark the lid the way a steel rail would.
What size are they?
Each rail is 18-1/4" long, 2-3/4" wide and 3-1/2" tall, and they come as a pair. The set weighs about 2 lb.
Where are they made?
Unlike UWS's aluminum boxes, which are welded in Florida, these rails are manufactured in China. They carry the same UWS limited lifetime warranty.

Look is great. 100 lbs
Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

A must have
I really like this mat. I was apprehensive at first but, the mat does a great job of keeping things from sliding around without having to secure it. perfect fit. But i think i will be adding some short screws to secure the mat to the DECKED system.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.

The toolbox is nice. I think Ill get a lot of years of service out of it. I like how the lid opens and the tie downs are a nice touch. It seems to be well built. And tough. Im pleased with my purchase and would buy another one.
