The Extang Solid Fold Toolbox 2.0 is a hard folding tonneau cover that works by hand, with no tools and no drilling. Two thirds of the bed opens up without lifting anything off, and buckle straps hold the stack while you drive. Its panels are 1 inch EnduraShield TPO composite carried in an aircraft-grade aluminum frame finished in textured black EnduraCoat, with dual-pivot MaxHinges at the joints. What sets this version apart is length. Extang builds it short so a crossover toolbox sits ahead of it behind the cab, and a clamp-on L-Channel closes the space that leaves. Part number 84457 is the 6'6" bed application for the 2019-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 / GMC Sierra 1500.
What's Included:
Solid Fold Toolbox 2.0 cover, EnduraShield panels set in an aluminum frame
Clamp-on L-Channel with its adjustable seal for the toolbox end
Hand-tightened clamps, Jaw-Grip at the front, EZ-Lock at the rear
Snap-on triple-fin perimeter seals with hard polymer corner and hinge caps
Dual-pivot MaxHinges between the panels
Integrated buckle straps for holding the cover folded
Features
Clamps That Need No Tools Two clamp types hold the cover down on the bed rails. The Jaw-Grip pair at the front is what you open to take the cover off, no tools involved. The EZ-Lock pair at the rear is what you open to fold it.
One Inch EnduraShield Panels Each panel measures 1 inch thick and is built from EnduraShield TPO composite, which Extang rates to resist impacts, abrasion and UV exposure. The panels drop into an aircraft-grade aluminum frame wearing a textured black EnduraCoat finish.
Fold Forward or Lift Off Popping the rear clamps is what gets you into the bed. The panels then flip forward against the cab in a stack, which two buckle straps hold down while you drive. For the whole bed, release the front clamps and lift the cover away.
Triple-Fin Perimeter Seals Snap-on triple-fin seals run the perimeter while hard polymer caps cover the corners and hinge joints. The L-Channel presses flat against the toolbox. Extang rates the result as weather resistant, so it sheds rain and road grit rather than sealing the bed airtight.
Room for a Crossover Toolbox Extang builds this cover shorter than the bed, leaving room ahead of it for most 18 to 20 inch crossover toolboxes. The patented clamp-on L-Channel is what closes the space the shorter cover leaves, sealing against the box so the bed stays covered.
No-Drill Install, Michigan Assembly Nothing gets drilled. Set the cover on the bed rails, close the Jaw-Grip front clamps, unfold the panels and lock the EZ-Lock rear clamps. Dual-pivot MaxHinges reinforce the joints between panels. Extang assembles this cover in Michigan and warrants it for three years.

Warranty. Extang covers the Solid Fold Toolbox 2.0 for three years against defects in materials or workmanship on the rails, aluminum parts, clamps, bows and hardware. Cover starts on the purchase date for the original buyer, and Extang asks for warranty registration or a dated detailed receipt. Claims run through Extang's customer service department, which issues a return authorization before anything ships back at the customer's expense, after which Extang repairs or replaces the part at its option. Damage from accidents, misuse, neglect, improper installation or removal, modifications or normal wear falls outside it, as does cargo resting on the panels, driving folded without both buckles fastened, opening the panels with snow or ice on top and towing the truck from the rear.
Free shipping. This item ships free to the lower 48 states. Because it is an oversized item, it ships by freight or oversized parcel and typically arrives in 3 to 7 business days.
Inspect on delivery. Please inspect the packaging before signing. If you see any damage, note it on the delivery receipt and contact us right away, and we will make it right.
About Extang
Extang is a truck bed cover manufacturer and one of the RealTruck family of brands. Extang states that the Solid Fold Toolbox 2.0 is assembled in Michigan. Many of its parts are proprietary or patented designs, which is why names like EnduraShield, EnduraCoat, MaxHinge, Jaw-Grip and EZ-Lock run through the range.
This cover sits on the hard folding side of the range, next to the Solid Fold ALX and the Endure ALX. Extang describes it as sharing construction with the standard Solid Fold 2.0. For cleaning, the company names soap and water or its own Tonno Tonic product, both of which it lists as approved.
Extang backs its covers with a manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, three years in the case of the Solid Fold Toolbox 2.0. Claims go through the company's own customer service department, which issues a return authorization before anything ships back. Registration or a dated proof of purchase is required.
Solid Fold 2.0 Fast Facts
This video covers the standard Solid Fold 2.0, not the Toolbox version on this page. Extang states that the two share the same construction, so the panels, frame and clamps carry over. The Toolbox model is the shorter one, with the L-Channel added at the front.
Installing the Solid Fold 2.0
An install walkthrough for the standard Solid Fold 2.0, not the Toolbox version. Both use tool-free clamps on the bed rails. The Toolbox cover also has the L-Channel to fit at the box, so follow the install guide for your part number.
Solid Fold 2.0 Product Film
Another look at the standard Solid Fold 2.0 hard folding cover. It is not the Toolbox version, which runs shorter to leave room for a crossover toolbox. What carries across is the panel and clamp hardware Extang uses on both.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
Will a crossover toolbox fit with this cover?
Extang builds the cover short so a crossover box can sit ahead of it against the cab. The size range Extang gives for that box is listed in the specifications. Measure your box front to back and check it against that figure before ordering, because the L-Channel has to reach it.
How much of the bed can I open?
About two thirds of it. Extang rates the cover for two thirds bed access folded, and the panels stack at the cab end while you use the rest. Both buckle straps have to be fastened before you drive with it folded. Take the cover off the rails and you have the whole bed.
Does it keep water out?
The perimeter carries snap-on triple-fin seals, the corners and hinges get hard polymer caps and the L-Channel closes the gap at the toolbox. Extang calls the fit weather resistant rather than sealed, so expect it to shed rain and dust rather than keep the bed completely dry.
Do I have to drill into my truck bed?
No. It clamps to the bed rails, nothing gets drilled and no hardware goes into the sheet metal. The Jaw-Grip and EZ-Lock clamps tighten by hand, so there is no tool kit to dig out. Those same clamps are what let you lift the cover off later without tools.
Can I drive with the cover folded open?
Yes, provided both buckle straps are fastened over the folded stack. Extang lists an unsecured folded cover as a condition that voids the warranty. Clear snow, ice or loose debris off the top before you fold it, since opening a loaded cover can damage the panels. Closed, all four clamps must be tight.
How do I clean it and what voids the warranty?
Soap and water is what Extang lists for cleaning, and the panels are TPO composite in an aluminum frame rather than vinyl. On the warranty side, the terms are voided by cargo pressing against the panels, by driving folded without both buckles fastened, by opening the panels with snow or ice on top and by towing the truck from the rear.
