The wheel well is the most wasted space in a pickup bed, and this is the box built to use it. The UWS FW-48-DS-P is a 48" passenger-side wheel well box that steps over the wheel arch and sits tight against the bed side, leaving the floor of the bed clear to haul everything else. The main compartment gives 3.9ft³ under a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid, and below it are three integrated drawers that slide open toward the rear behind their own small lockable door, which is where the small tools and fittings live. The shell is extra-thick bright aluminum diamond plate, secured by a stainless steel lock handle. Mounting hardware is not included. Like all UWS truck tool boxes, it is designed, fabricated and welded in Florida.

Shaped Around the Passenger-Side Wheel Well This box is handed. The step in the lower profile is cut to clear the passenger-side wheel arch, so it drops against the bed side and wastes nothing. Order the side you actually need, because a passenger-side box will not sit correctly on the opposite side of the truck.
3.9ft³ Plus Three Drawers The upper compartment carries 3.9ft³ under the lid, and three drawers below it slide open toward the rear behind a separate lockable door. The split is deliberate: long items and bulk go up top, and the things you lose in a big box live in the drawers.
Patented RigidCore Foam-Filled Lid The lid is foam-injected rather than hollow, so the panel carries load across its whole area instead of dishing when someone stands on it to reach into the bed. It is the single biggest difference between a UWS lid and a budget box lid, and it is why the lid does not drum on a rough road.
Stainless Steel Lock Handle Stainless rather than plated steel, because the handle is the part most exposed to weather and wash chemicals and the part that has to keep working after a decade outdoors.
Leaves the Bed Floor Open At 8.75" deep against the bed side, the box takes a narrow strip along the wall rather than a block across the front. You keep the full length of the bed for cargo, which is the whole argument for a wheel well box over a crossover.

Fit guidance: Two things decide this fit. First the side: this is the passenger-side box and it is not reversible, so confirm which side of the truck you are fitting before ordering. Second the wheel arch: the step in the lower profile is cut to a standard full-size pickup wheel well, and a bed liner or an unusual arch shape can stop the box sitting flat. Measure the length of clear bed side you have available against the 48" overall width, and check 24.75" of height clearance if anything closes over the bed. UWS does not supply mounting hardware with this box, and the drawers slide toward the rear, so leave room behind the box for them to open.

Set the box in place and check three things before marking: that the step clears the wheel arch without rocking, that the lid opens fully without hitting the bed rail, and that the drawers slide all the way out toward the rear with the tailgate down. Then mark, and get underneath to confirm the drill path is clear of the fuel tank, brake and fuel lines, the spare tire winch and the wiring harness. Which side do I need?
This is the passenger-side box. Stand at the tailgate looking forward: the passenger side is on your right in a US-market truck. The box is handed around the wheel arch and will not fit correctly on the opposite side.
How much does it hold?
3.9ft³ in the main compartment under the lid, plus three drawers underneath. The drawers are for the small things that disappear in a big box; the upper compartment is for everything else.
Do the drawers lock?
They sit behind their own small lockable door, so yes, the drawer bay is secured separately from the main compartment. The main lid has its own stainless lock handle.
Is mounting hardware included?
No, and UWS is explicit about it: the install sheet's parts list is the box and two keys only, with a footnote saying you must purchase your own hardware. The right bolts depend on your bed. Look underneath before drilling, since the fuel tank, brake and fuel lines and the spare tire winch are all in play.
Will it clear my bed liner?
Usually, but a liner changes the wheel arch profile and can leave the box rocking. Set the box in place and check it sits flat on all its mounting points before you drill anything.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.
