Features
Limited Lifetime Warranty UWS backs the box with a limited lifetime warranty, with one year on the finish and one year on parts. That is the manufacturer telling you what it expects the welded aluminum structure to do over the life of the truck.
Extra-Thick 0.058" One-Piece Aluminum Tub The tub is formed from a single piece of 0.058" aluminum rather than welded up from thinner panels, so there are fewer seams to leak or split and the box keeps its shape when it is loaded with heavy hand tools, cordless kits and chain. Aluminum also means it will not rust out from the inside the way a painted steel box does once the coating is chipped, which matters on a box that lives outdoors and gets road salt thrown at it every winter.
Mounts Inside the Bed Rails The box hangs from the inside face of the bed rails, so the bed floor stays clear underneath for sheet goods, bags of material or a spare wheel. Nothing is bolted through the floor.
Patented RigidCore Foam-Filled Lid UWS fills the lid with a solid foam core instead of leaving it hollow. That is what stops a long lid from flexing in the middle, binding in its own opening or drumming as you drive. On a 48.75" lid this is the difference between a box that still latches cleanly after a few years and one that has to be pushed down to catch.
Lockable Stainless Push-Button A flush stainless push-button releases the lid and locks with a key. There is no protruding handle to catch a hip or a passing load, which is part of why this box works so well tucked against the bed wall.
Low Profile Preserves Rear Vision The low body sits below the line of the bed rails on most trucks, so it does not block the rear window or the camera view. It also keeps the center of gravity down and gives the truck a cleaner profile than a full-height box.
MicroSeal Weather Gasket A MicroSeal gasket runs the full perimeter of the opening and compresses as the lid closes, sealing out rain, road spray, dust and the fine grit that ruins bearings and fastener threads. It is the part of a tool box most owners only think about after they have found standing water inside a cheaper one.
Self-Opening Lid Release the push-button and the lid lifts and stays up on its own, close to a full 90 degrees. That is a genuinely useful detail when both hands are full or you are working in the dark: you are not holding a heavy lid open with a shoulder while you dig for a socket.

What are the actual dimensions, and will it fit my truck?
The box is 48.75" long, 14.5" deep and 11.75" tall overall, and it holds 3ft³. The usable tub inside measures 48" x 9.25" x 8.75". Measure the clear length of bed wall you have, and the height from the bed floor to the top of the rail.
Is the mounting hardware included?
Partly. The carton holds the box, 2 keys and 2 legs. It does not hold any bolts. UWS states that you must supply your own hardware to suit your truck.
What is the difference between this and the standard UWS part?
Nothing about the box itself. UWS states that this part is identical to #TBSM-48-LP, with the only difference being that it is heavily packaged so it can travel by parcel carrier rather than by freight. You get the same box, the same warranty and, usually, a faster and cheaper delivery.
How well does it keep water out?
A MicroSeal gasket runs the full perimeter of the opening and compresses as the lid closes. No tool box is a submarine, and a box that is pressure washed straight at the seam or parked nose-down in standing water can still take some in, but in normal service it stays dry inside. Keep the gasket clean and it will keep sealing.
What is the finish, and how does it hold up?
Bright aluminum diamond plate, which is the mill finish of the aluminum itself rather than a coating. It cannot chip or peel because there is nothing on top to come off, and aluminum does not rust. It will dull and pick up a patina over the years, which most owners either like or polish back.
Does the lid stay open on its own?
Yes. Release the push-button and the RigidCore lid lifts and holds itself open at close to 90 degrees, so you have both hands free. The foam-filled lid is light enough for the mechanism to manage but stiff enough not to flex on the way up.

Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.
