Extra-Thick 0.058" One-Piece Aluminum Tub The tub is formed from a single piece of 0.058" aluminum rather than welded up from thinner panels, so there are fewer seams to leak or split and the box keeps its shape when it is loaded with heavy hand tools, cordless kits and chain. Aluminum also means it will not rust out from the inside the way a painted steel box does once the coating is chipped, which matters on a box that lives outdoors and gets road salt thrown at it every winter.
Stainless Steel Lock Handles The lock handles are stainless steel, not plated pot metal, so they keep working after a few winters of salt and do not seize or bloom with rust. Both handles lock.
MicroSeal Weather Gasket A MicroSeal gasket runs the full perimeter of the opening and compresses as the lid closes, sealing out rain, road spray, dust and the fine grit that ruins bearings and fastener threads. It is the part of a tool box most owners only think about after they have found standing water inside a cheaper one.
Self-Opening Lid Release the paddle handles and the lid lifts and stays up on its own, close to a full 90 degrees. That is a genuinely useful detail when both hands are full or you are working in the dark: you are not holding a heavy lid open with a shoulder while you dig for a socket.
Tool Trays and Screwdriver Holders Moulded tool trays and built-in screwdriver holders come as part of the box, so the things you reach for constantly have a home instead of ending up loose in the bottom.

Set the box across the bed rails behind the cab, check the lid clears the rear window and any cab guard through its full travel, then clamp it down with the supplied hardware. Most crossover boxes clamp to the underside of the bed rail rather than bolting through, so no drilling of the truck is normally needed.

What are the actual dimensions, and will it fit my truck?
The box is 73" long, 20" deep and 14.75" tall overall, and it holds 9ft³. The usable tub inside measures 62" x 17" x 9". Measure your bed rail to rail, outside to outside, because a crossover box spans the rails rather than sitting in the bed.
Is the mounting hardware included?
Yes. UWS's parts list for this box is the box, 2 keys, 2 rail pads, 2 3" J-hooks, 2 1/4" washers and 2 1/4" nuts, which is everything needed to clamp it to the bed rails. Some models also include a divider tray. No drilling of the truck is normally required.
What is the difference between this and the standard UWS part?
Nothing about the box itself. UWS states that this part is identical to #TB-72, with the only difference being that it is heavily packaged so it can travel by parcel carrier rather than by freight. You get the same box, the same warranty and, usually, a faster and cheaper delivery.
How well does it keep water out?
A MicroSeal gasket runs the full perimeter of the opening and compresses as the lid closes. No tool box is a submarine, and a box that is pressure washed straight at the seam or parked nose-down in standing water can still take some in, but in normal service it stays dry inside. Keep the gasket clean and it will keep sealing.
What is the finish, and how does it hold up?
Bright aluminum diamond plate, which is the mill finish of the aluminum itself rather than a coating. It cannot chip or peel because there is nothing on top to come off, and aluminum does not rust. It will dull and pick up a patina over the years, which most owners either like or polish back.
Does the lid stay open on its own?
Yes. Release the paddle handles and the RigidCore lid lifts and holds itself open at close to 90 degrees, so you have both hands free. The foam-filled lid is light enough for the mechanism to manage but stiff enough not to flex on the way up.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.
