Open the bed from your fob

A two-button wireless fob runs the cover from wherever you happen to be standing. Press once and the aluminum deck rolls forward on its side tracks into the canister behind the cab; press again and it travels back and locks. Nothing is lifted off, nothing is carried into the garage, and there is no latch to reach over the bedside for with your hands full. A tailgate extrusion built into the rear edge means the tailgate cannot be dropped while the cover is closed and locked, so the bed shuts as one unit rather than two.

Stops exactly where you leave it

Because the deck is driven rather than sprung, it holds at any point along the track instead of dropping into one of three preset notches. Leave a foot of the box open for a ladder, half of it open for a load of timber, then lock it there. An auto-stop circuit watches the motor and halts the deck if something in the bed is in its way, so an over-height load stops the cover instead of the cover crushing the load. The deck rolls into a 7.25" canister at the bulkhead.
Roll-N-Lock E-Series cover closed along the bed rail by the ocean

Built to live outside

The E-Series deck is matte black powder-coated aluminum, sealed along both rails and drained through integrated channels and tubes that carry water down through the rails and out under the truck. Roll-N-Lock does not call it waterproof and neither will we: treat it as water-resistant, keep the tracks clear of grit, and clear snow off the deck before you open it. It is assembled in Pompano Beach, Florida from US and global materials and carries a five-year limited warranty, two years longer than any manual cover in the range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Does the cover stop by itself if something in the bed is in the way?

Yes. Roll-N-Lock builds an auto-stop into the E-Series: the drive watches the motor and halts the deck when it meets resistance, so an over-height load in the box stops the cover rather than the cover forcing its way over it. Use it as a safety net, not as a substitute for looking in the bed. Anything standing taller than the bed rails should be moved or the cover stopped short of it on purpose, which the E-Series lets you do at any point along the track.

Can I stop and lock the cover part-way along the bed?

Anywhere you like. The manual Roll-N-Lock covers use a patented ratchet that holds the deck at three fixed positions; the E-Series is motor-driven, so it stops and locks wherever you release the fob. That matters for the loads that do not fit a preset: a ladder poking out of the back, a load of timber, a bike wheel standing proud. Cover as much of the box as the load allows and lock it there.

Will rain and snow stay out of my truck bed?

Mostly, but Roll-N-Lock does not call the E-Series waterproof and neither will we. The aluminum deck sheds the weather and integrated channels and drain tubes carry whatever gets past the seals down through the rails and out under the truck. In a heavy downpour or at a jet wash you should expect some moisture to find its way in around the edges. Roll-N-Lock's warranty is explicit that water intrusion is not covered, including leaks in normal use, so treat the cover as highly water resistant and keep anything that genuinely must stay dry in a sealed container.

Is the electric cover covered for longer than the manual ones?

Yes. Roll-N-Lock warrants the E-Series and E-Series XT for five years to the original purchaser, where the manual M-Series and A-Series carry three. It is the only part of the range that gets the longer term, it covers defects in materials and workmanship, it is not transferable, and it ends if the cover is moved to another vehicle. Water intrusion is excluded on every family, electric included.

Do I have to drill into my truck to fit one?

No holes go into the truck itself. The side tracks clamp to the bed rails with the hardware in the box and the canister housing sits against the bulkhead. The catch is the bedliner: where a bed has a drop-in plastic liner, that liner generally has to be cut back and drilled so the canister seats and the drain tubes can pass through it. Roll-N-Lock gives the cut measurements in the installation sheet for your application, and a spray-in liner or a bare bed needs none of it.

How much bed space does the canister take up?

Roll-N-Lock publishes a canister depth of 7.25 inches across its retractable covers, the E-Series included. That is the space at the front of the bed, against the bulkhead, that the rolled-up deck occupies, and it is there whether the cover is open or closed. If you regularly carry something that fills the box front to back, measure it against your bed length minus roughly seven and a quarter inches before you order.

Dave

I really like this cover, delivery was fast and install was easy, however, compared to other tonneau covers I’ve had, this one seems to leak water a lot more. The first rain I noticed leaking water through the cover slats and by the rails, the seals all appear to be good and making good contact but I’m not happy with the amount of water coming in through the slats, during a trip your gear will get wet.

Don’t waste your money

After less than 4 months the motor is struggling to close the cover. I barely open/close it. It’s at the dealership now getting a new motor. This item is way too expensive not to quality.

this is my second E-Series. The motor went out on first one, only lasted about 5 years. Not a good value for what it cost. The second one arrived serioulsly damaged and unusable. It's just not worth the headeche. I wouldnt recomend this product.

This is my 2nd E-Series. The motor went out on the 1st, only lasted about 5 years. Tried to order a new motor and was told I had to purchase a whole new E-Series. So I did, it arrives with serious damage, completely unusable! I wont be ordering from this company again, not worth it.
