The UWS TBS-69-A-LP-BLK is a 69" crossover tool box that mounts across the bed just behind the cab, sitting on the bed rails so the floor underneath stays usable. It holds 8.3ft³ and measures 70" long by 20" wide by 14.75" tall overall. The tub is notched at both ends, tapering from 59" across the top to 48" at the floor, so it clears the bed rails and wheel arch flares on trucks where a square-bottomed box fouls. A single RigidCore lid opens on two stainless steel paddle lock handles, tied together by a connecting rod so the box opens from either side of the truck. The low-profile lid keeps the box sitting about 2" lower on the bed rail than a standard-profile UWS box, which matters if you want to keep the rear window clear or you run a cab-height rack. Every UWS crossover box uses the patented RigidCore lid, which is a one-piece aluminum shell filled with solid foam so it resists the bending and warping that turns a cheap lid into a lid that no longer seals, and a MicroSeal gasket runs the full perimeter to keep water, dust and road grit out of your tools. The gloss black powder coat is applied over the same 0.058" one-piece aluminum shell as the bright boxes, so you get the color without giving up corrosion resistance. Like the rest of the UWS tool box range, this model is designed, fabricated and welded in Florida.

Features
Patented RigidCore Foam-Filled Lid The lid is a one-piece aluminum shell filled with solid structural foam rather than left hollow. That is what stops it flexing when someone stands on it or when a load shifts against it, and it is why the gasket keeps sealing after years of use instead of leaking once the lid has taken a set. UWS shows the cutaway in its own product photography and puts the lid up against a power saw in its published strength test.
MicroSeal Gasket Around the Full Perimeter A MicroSeal gasket runs the entire way around the tub opening, compressed by the weight of the RigidCore lid. It is the difference between a box that keeps power tools dry through a winter of road spray and one that collects an inch of water in the corner. UWS publishes a mud and pressure-washer test of this seal.
Stainless Steel Paddle Lock Handles on Both Sides Two stainless steel paddle handles lock the lid, one per side, tied together by an internal connecting rod so the box opens from whichever side of the bed you are standing on. Stainless means the latch still works after the winters that seize a plated steel latch, and the handles sit widespread near the ends where they are easy to reach over the bed rail.
Interior Rod Enclosure The lock rods that run from the handles to the latches are carried inside an enclosed channel rather than left exposed in the tub. Cargo sliding around cannot bend them, and nobody can reach in and lever them out of position. It is a small detail that is the usual failure point on cheaper boxes.
Lid Self-Opens to 90 Degrees The lid self-opens to a full 90 degrees for convenient operation and loading, so you can get into the box when your hands are full. UWS reserves the self-closing lid for its Secure Lock line; on this box the mechanism assists opening instead.
0.058" One-Piece Aluminum Tub The tub is formed from a single sheet of 0.058" aluminum, which is meaningfully thicker than the 0.045" to 0.050" used by most boxes at this price. One piece means fewer seams to leak or split, and aluminum means the box does not rust from the inside out once the finish is scratched.
Angled Ends to Clear the Bed Rails The tub is notched at both ends, running 59" at the top and tapering to 48" at the floor. That taper is what lets the box drop between the bed rails on trucks where a square-bottomed tub catches on the rail cap or the wheel arch flare.
Tool Trays and Screwdriver Holders Built In A sliding tray runs on rails inside the box so small parts stay findable instead of migrating to the far corner, and there are moulded holders along the tub wall for screwdrivers and pry bars. It is the organization that stops a crossover box turning into a single deep pile.
Clamps On With the Hardware in the Carton The carton includes two 3" J-hooks with washers and nuts plus a pair of rail pads, so the box clamps onto the bed rails with a ratchet and a socket and needs no drilling in a normal installation. UWS rates the job as easy and publishes an installation manual specific to this model.
Fitment & Compatibility
Truck Class
Example Trucks
Fit
Full-size pickups
F-150, Silverado/Sierra 1500, Ram 1500, Tundra
✓ Yes, this is the size band built for full-size beds
● Too wide for most mid-size beds, step down to a 54" to 63" box
Compact and unibody trucks
Maverick, Santa Cruz
✗ No, too wide
Trucks with a liner over the rails
-
● Usually fine, but measure the rail width over the liner lip
Trucks with a tonneau cover
-
● Low profile boxes clear many folding covers, confirm with the cover maker
Fit guidance: Crossover tool boxes are sized by the rail-to-rail width of your truck bed, not by year, make and model, so this is not a vehicle-specific part and no fitment lookup applies. Measure from the outside of one bed rail to the outside of the other at the point just behind the cab where the box will sit, then choose a box whose overall length is close to that figure. This box is 70" long overall and 20" wide, and it needs 20" of clear space front to back on the rails. Because it is a low-profile box it sits about 2" lower on the rail than a standard-profile box, which helps with rear visibility and with clearing some tonneau covers. Mounting hardware is included and no drilling is required on most trucks.

Installation
Type: Clamps to the bed rails behind the cab with the two 3" J-hooks and rail pads supplied in the carton · Time: About 30 minutes with a second person · Tools: Ratchet and socket set, plus a tape measure. A second person to lift the box onto the rails. · Difficulty: Easy, and no drilling is needed in a normal installation
Measure across the outside of both bed rails before you start and confirm the 70" overall length sits where you want it. Lay the two rail pads on the rails so the box does not sit metal to metal, set the box down with a helper and center it, then hook a 3" J-hook under each rail lip and tighten the 1/4" nuts evenly. UWS calls for 3 ft-lbs on 1/4" hardware, so snug rather than tight: crushing the rail flange is the usual way people distort a bed rail. Check that both handles latch and that the lid seals all the way around before you load it. If your particular truck does need a hole drilled, look underneath first and confirm you are clear of brake and fuel lines, wiring and the tank, then seal the hole against corrosion. Follow the UWS installation manual supplied with the box.

About UWS
UWS builds aluminum truck boxes in Ocala, Florida, and has done since 1997. The company is part of the CURT Group, which sits inside Lippert, so a UWS box is backed by a national warranty and parts network rather than by an importer. That matters most on the parts that wear: latches, gaskets, gas struts and lock cylinders are all serviceable items you can still get years after the box was built.
The engineering that separates UWS from a commodity box is concentrated in two places. The patented RigidCore lid is a one-piece aluminum shell injected with solid foam, so it holds its shape under load instead of oil-canning, and it keeps sealing pressure on the gasket for the life of the box. The MicroSeal gasket is the other half of that system, a full-perimeter seal that keeps water and dust out rather than merely slowing them down. Underneath, the tub is drawn from a single piece of 0.058" aluminum, thicker than the 0.045" to 0.050" common in this price class, and the lock rods run inside an enclosed channel so they cannot be bent or pried from outside. UWS states that this model is designed, fabricated and welded at its Florida plant, and the country of origin on record for this part number is the USA. We publish origin claims exactly as the manufacturer states them, model by model.
Prestige Truck is an authorized UWS dealer. Every box we ship is new, factory packed and covered by the full UWS limited lifetime warranty, with finish and parts covered for one year.

Model
This OneUWS 69" Angled Single Lid Crossover Truck Tool Box, Low Profile, Gloss Black (TBS-69-A-LP-BLK)
UWS puts a RigidCore lid up against a power saw to show what the foam-filled construction actually buys you.
It is a marketing test rather than a lab result, but it makes the point clearly: the lid is a filled structural panel, not a hollow stamping that flexes and stops sealing after a season.
MicroSeal Gasket Vs Mud And A Pressure Washer
UWS coats a box in mud and then takes a pressure washer to it to show how the MicroSeal gasket performs.
Worth watching if you park outside year round or wash the truck often, because a full-perimeter seal is the difference between dry tools and an inch of water in the corner of the box.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
What size truck does the TBS-69-A-LP-BLK fit?
Crossover boxes are chosen by bed width, not by year, make and model. Measure across the outside of both bed rails just behind the cab. This box is 70" long overall, which suits full-size and heavy duty pickups such as the F-150, F-250, Silverado 1500 and 2500, Ram 1500 and 2500 and the Tundra. If your measurement is more than about an inch off, pick the neighboring size.
How much will it actually hold?
8.3ft³. The usable tub is 59" long by 17" wide by 11.75" deep, narrowing to 48" at the floor where the ends are angled. That is typical for a standard-width crossover of this length.
Is this the low profile or the standard height box?
Low profile. The lid sits roughly 2" lower on the bed rail than the standard-profile version, so it blocks less of the rear window and clears more tonneau covers. Overall height is 14.75". If you want maximum depth instead of a low silhouette, look at the standard-profile box in the same length.
What is the finish, and will it hold up?
Gloss Black powder coat over aluminum diamond plate. The coating is applied over the same 0.058" one-piece aluminum shell as the bright boxes, so a scratch exposes aluminum rather than bare steel and will not rust. UWS covers the finish for one year and the box itself for life.
Can I open it from either side of the truck?
Yes. There is a stainless steel paddle lock handle on each side and a connecting rod tying them together inside the box, so it opens from whichever side you are standing on. The rods run in an enclosed interior channel so they cannot be bent or pried.
Does it come with mounting hardware, and how does it ship?
Yes, the two 3" J-hooks, rail pads, washers and nuts are all in the carton, so it clamps to the bed rails with a ratchet and no drilling in a normal installation. UWS rates the install as easy and supplies a model-specific install sheet. Because this box is 70" long and weighs about 58 lb packed, it ships freight by LTL rather than by parcel carrier, so a delivery appointment is arranged with you.

Look is great. 100 lbs
Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

A must have
I really like this mat. I was apprehensive at first but, the mat does a great job of keeping things from sliding around without having to secure it. perfect fit. But i think i will be adding some short screws to secure the mat to the DECKED system.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.

The toolbox is nice. I think Ill get a lot of years of service out of it. I like how the lid opens and the tie downs are a nice touch. It seems to be well built. And tough. Im pleased with my purchase and would buy another one.
