The ARB Altitude is the rooftop tent you open by pressing a button. Two ARB electronic actuators drive a scissor mechanism that raises the fiberglass shell and, on the way back down, ARB's patented SmartFold hinge tucks the 380GSM poly-cotton canvas into the shell for you. Pack-down is rated at 75 seconds and, critically, it happens without anyone climbing onto the roof of the vehicle to stuff canvas, which is the part of owning a rooftop tent that everybody quietly hates.
Inside there is a full double bed at 73.6" x 53.9" with 46.5" of headroom and a 2.7" dual-density foam mattress, lit by a dual-color amber and white LED system that also throws light down the ladder and out into camp. The gray gel-coat fiberglass shell sits on an aluminum frame with integrated t-slot roof rails rated to 44 lb, so a board or a set of traction boards can ride on top and the tent still opens under power. It mounts to an ARB BASE Rack or to generic crossbars on the included universal folded brackets, and it runs off the vehicle battery by hardwire or a 12V Anderson plug.

Features
Opens And Closes On A Button Two ARB electronic actuators drive a proven scissor mechanism, so raising and lowering the tent is a single press rather than a wrestling match with gas struts and canvas.
SmartFold Hinge Packs The Canvas For You ARB's patented SmartFold hinge folds the heavy-duty canvas walls into the shell as it closes. Nobody has to climb on the roof to tuck fabric, and tear-down is rated at 75 seconds.
A Real Double Bed Up There 73.6" x 53.9" of bed space, 46.5" of head space and a 2.7" dual-density foam mattress. It is a 4-season, 2-person tent rather than a bivouac with a ladder.
Load Carrying Roof Rails Integrated t-slot rails in the shell roof carry up to 44 lb of accessories, and the electric raise and lower still works with that load in place.
Lighting Inside And Out A dual-color LED system runs amber or white light through the interior, down the ladder and into the campsite, so setting up after dark is not a headlamp job.
Fiberglass Shell On An Aluminum Frame A curved gray gel-coat fiberglass shell shaped to sit cleanly on modern vehicle rooflines, mounted on a lightweight aluminum frame, with the ladder stored in a guided compartment in the roof.
Fitment & Compatibility
Application
Fit
ARB BASE Rack platforms
✓ Fits, included universal folded brackets
Aftermarket crossbars and platform roof racks
✓ Fits, included universal folded brackets
Vehicles whose rack and roof are rated for the tent plus two occupants
✓ Fits, confirm the dynamic and static ratings first
Factory roof rails with no rated crossbar set fitted
✗ Not suitable until rated crossbars are added
Vehicles with no 12V supply available at the roof
● Mechanism will not operate, a 12V feed is required
Fit guidance: The Altitude is a universal-mount tent, not a vehicle-specific one, but 233.7 lb of tent plus two adults is a serious roof load and it is the rack and vehicle ratings that decide whether it fits, not the bracket. Check your crossbar manufacturer's static (parked) rating as well as the dynamic (driving) rating before ordering, and plan a 12V feed to the roof because the electric mechanism will not work without one.

Installation
Type: Bolt to crossbars or a platform rack with the included universal folded brackets, plus a 12V power connection · Time: Half a day including running power, once the tent is on the roof · Tools: Socket set, wrenches, 12V wiring tools; a mechanical hoist or four people to lift 233.7 lb onto the roof · Difficulty: Moderate, but the lift is the hard part
This is not a solo install. At 233.7 lb the tent needs a hoist, an engine crane or several people to get it onto the rack safely. Once it is up there the brackets bolt to the crossbars and the remaining job is the 12V feed, which ARB's manual covers as either a hardwired run to the battery or a plug-in Anderson connection.

About ARB
ARB was founded in 1975 by Tony Brown, who returned from a Cape York expedition and began hand-building bull bars and roof racks in his Melbourne driveway because nothing on the market survived the trip. Fifty years later ARB engineers from a campus at Kilsyth in Victoria, is Australia's largest 4x4 accessories manufacturer and distributor, and exports through more than 100 countries.
Rooftop tents put ARB's engineering somewhere unusually visible: the shell rides on the roof at highway speed, the mechanism gets worked every single night of a trip, and the canvas has to shed a desert storm. That is why the tent range is developed and tested on ARB's own outback trips rather than in a showroom. ARB North America, Air Locker Inc. of Auburn, Washington, handles US warranty and support. Prestige Truck is an authorized ARB dealer. What ships from us is genuine US-market ARB stock with full ARB North America warranty coverage.
The ARB Story

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
How long does it actually take to set up and pack down?
Setup is a button press and the tent rises on its own. ARB rates pack-down at 75 seconds. The important part is that neither operation needs anyone on the roof, because the SmartFold hinge tucks the canvas into the shell as the shell closes.
What does my roof rack need to be rated for?
The tent alone is 233.7 lb, and when you are asleep in it the rack is also carrying two adults. Look at the static (parked) rating from your crossbar or platform rack manufacturer rather than the dynamic (driving) rating, and check the vehicle roof limit too. The included universal folded brackets fit ARB BASE Rack and generic crossbars.
How is it powered, and what happens if the power fails?
It runs from the vehicle battery, either hardwired or plugged into a 12V Anderson plug, which is sold separately. ARB covers the wiring options in the customer manual supplied with the tent; that manual is the right reference for backup operation and service on the actuators.
Can I carry gear on top of the tent?
Yes, up to 44 lb on the integrated t-slot roof rails built into the shell. ARB states the electric raising and closing still works with that load fitted, so a board or a set of traction boards can live up there permanently.
What else does ARB say is built into it?
ARB's global product page for the Altitude also lists an integrated roof fan, dimmable lighting, extensive internal storage and multiple USB charging points, alongside the dual-color LED system and 360-degree window views described on the US listing. We have quoted both records rather than blending them.
Is it a 4-season tent?
ARB rates it 4-season. The canvas is 380GSM poly-cotton meeting the ASTM F3431-21 fire-retardant specification, the mattress is 2.7" dual-density foam, and there is 46.5" of head space so you can sit up and change inside rather than in the weather.

Look is great. 100 lbs
Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

A must have
I really like this mat. I was apprehensive at first but, the mat does a great job of keeping things from sliding around without having to secure it. perfect fit. But i think i will be adding some short screws to secure the mat to the DECKED system.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.

The toolbox is nice. I think Ill get a lot of years of service out of it. I like how the lid opens and the tie downs are a nice touch. It seems to be well built. And tough. Im pleased with my purchase and would buy another one.
