Gladiator bed covers that fit your 5 ft bed

Jeep builds every Gladiator as a four-door crew cab with a single steel bed, 60.3 inches long at the floor with the tailgate closed and 44.8 inches between the wheel wells. Sport, Willys, Rubicon, Mojave and every other trim share it. Cover makers list it as 5'. No series here splits its Gladiator parts by model year, so a 2020 truck and a 2026 truck take the same cover, and Access already lists 2027 trucks.

The Trail Rail System

Jeep's Trail Rail Cargo Management System, offered from the factory, bolts adjustable tie-down rails to the front wall and both sides of the bed. It is the only factory option that changes the part. Roll-N-Lock builds the M-Series and M-Series XT in two versions, one of them made for the rails. Access does the same with the LiteRider. Extang's Trifecta 2.0 and Solid Fold ALX, the BAKFlip MX4, all four TruXedo series and the Pace Edwards Full Metal JackRabbit fit with or without them.

Other covers are listed only for beds without the rails: the Access Lorado and Original, both LOMAX covers and Extang's Trifecta e-Series, Trifecta ALX and Endure ALX. On a Trail Rail truck, choose from the rest.

Soft tops and plastic bed caps

BAK's Gladiator listing for the BAKFlip MX4 says it is not recommended for soft tops, though a 2022 Gladiator Mojave owner who fitted one in about 45 minutes wrote:

“I do recommend a second set of hands or a pair of clamps to assist you. This cover is not recommended for soft tops, however I’ve had no issues.”

BAKFlip MX4 owner · 5 out of 5 stars

UnderCover's Gladiator instructions for the Flex, Ultra Flex and Select have you cut a marked section out of the plastic bed cap, and the cut is permanent.

Choosing a cover for the Gladiator

Two covers here give a Gladiator T-slot rails for a rooftop tent, bikes or a bed rack. The BAKFlip MX4 TS ($1,449.99) runs T-slot channels along both rails and still folds flush to the cab to free the whole 5 ft bed. On a Trail Rail truck, the Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT ($1,849.99) is the rack-ready cover with a part made for those rails, though cross bars are not included and its 7.25-inch canister leaves about 53 inches of floor.

Take the doors and top off and the cab no longer locks, so a cover that secures the bed earns its keep. The Roll-N-Lock M-Series ($1,699.99) locks with a key, holds the tailgate shut while it is closed and comes in both Trail Rail versions. TruXedo's Sentry CT ($1,299.99) closes on up to six latches with a level-2 lock and fits with or without the rails. The BAKFlip and UnderCover folding covers here release from inside the bed, so on those a locked tailgate does the securing.

If your Gladiator came with Jeep's soft roll-up cover, one owner who replaced theirs explains why:

“I had an OEM soft roll up cover previously on the gladiator but the wind would lift it up in the middle and pull it out from the truck bed. I switched over to the BAK revolver X4s and definitely don't have that problem anymore.”

BAK Revolver X4s owner · 5 out of 5 stars

The Revolver X4s ($1,479.99) rolls up at the front wall instead of standing against the cab, carries 400 lb and holds BAK's Level-3 security rating.

For heavy loads, Extang rates the Solid Fold ALX ($1,199.99) at 600 lb, the highest published rating among Gladiator covers here, and it fits with or without the Trail Rail. On a budget, all eight soft covers start under $600 on the Gladiator. The Extang Trifecta e-Series ($339.99) is the least expensive but is listed only for beds without the rails, while the Trifecta 2.0 ($519.99) fits either bed with one part.

Brands we carry for the Gladiator

Eight brands build the 30 series that fit the Gladiator here. None of our Retrax covers lists the Gladiator, so the canister retractables come from Roll-N-Lock and Pace Edwards. The table lists 14 of the 30, at least one from each brand.

Our picks for the Gladiator

Best Gladiator cover for a soft top

The BAK Revolver X4s ($1,479.99) rolls onto a spool at the front wall rather than standing against the cab, so the rear window stays clear whether your Gladiator wears a soft top or a hardtop. Its aluminum slats carry 400 lb and lock along the full length of both rails. Skip it if you want a rack, because BAK's rack-ready Revolver X4 TS is not listed here for the Gladiator.

Best Gladiator cover for a rooftop tent or rack

The BAKFlip MX4 TS ($1,449.99) runs T-slot rails down both sides of the 5 ft bed for cross bars, bike carriers or a tent rack. It still folds flush to the cab when you need the whole floor. The closed cover is rated for 400 lb, and the rack maker's own rating sets what the rails carry. Skip it if your truck has the Trail Rail and you want a cover sold as built for it: that is the Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT.

Best Gladiator cover on a budget

The Extang Trifecta 2.0 ($519.99) uses one part for Gladiators with or without the Trail Rail, and a 2020 Rubicon owner fitted one in about half an hour with an Allen wrench and Torx bits. That owner says the seal passed the rain and car wash test, and Extang backs the cover with a limited lifetime warranty. Skip it if gear rides in the bed with the doors off, since a vinyl tarp is easy to cut.

Best Gladiator cover for a locked bed

The Roll-N-Lock M-Series ($1,699.99) locks with a key and keeps the tailgate shut while it is closed, which counts when the doors and top are off. It comes in one version built for the factory Trail Rail and one for beds without it, and a Gladiator Rubicon owner was surprised how well it fit and says it does not leak. Skip it if you haul full-length loads, since its 7.25-inch canister leaves about 53 inches of the 60.3-inch floor.

White 2020 Jeep Gladiator with a BAKFlip MX4 hard folding cover in the sand dunes

Folds flat against the cab

The BAKFlip MX4 ($1,249.99) folds flush to the cab to open all 60.3 inches of floor, carries 400 lb closed and fits Gladiators with or without the Trail Rail.

Red 2020 Jeep Gladiator fitted with a TruXedo Sentry CT hard roll-up cover

Locks on up to six latches

TruXedo's Sentry CT ($1,299.99) sets a level-2 lock and up to six latches as it closes, holds 400 lb and fits Gladiators with or without the Trail Rail.

White 2020 Jeep Gladiator fitted with a Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT retractable cover

Rack rails for Trail Rail trucks

The M-Series XT ($1,849.99) adds MaxTrak T-slot rails on both sides and comes in versions for Gladiators with and without the factory Trail Rail, with cross bars sold separately.

Gladiator tonneau cover FAQs

What size bed does the Jeep Gladiator have?

One size: a 5 ft steel bed that Jeep lists at 60.3 inches along the floor with the tailgate closed and 44.8 inches between the wheel wells. Every 2020 to 2026 Gladiator is a four-door crew cab with that bed, whatever the trim. Choose 5' and your model year in the selector, then check whether your truck has the Trail Rail.

Do bed covers work with the Trail Rail system?

Most do, once you pick the right version. The Roll-N-Lock M-Series and M-Series XT and the Access LiteRider each come in a version built for the rails, while covers such as the Extang Solid Fold ALX, BAKFlip MX4 and TruXedo Lo Pro fit with or without them. If your bed has the rails, pass on the Access Lorado and Original, both LOMAX covers and Extang's Trifecta e-Series, Trifecta ALX and Endure ALX, which are listed for beds without them.

Can I fit a folding cover to a soft-top Gladiator?

BAK lists the BAKFlip MX4 as not recommended for soft tops, though a 2022 Mojave owner reports no issues. If you would rather avoid the question, the BAK Revolver X4s rolls up at the front wall instead of standing against the cab, and the Roll-N-Lock and Pace Edwards retractables slide into a canister there.

Will a bed cover keep my Gladiator dry?

Mostly, going by Gladiator owners in our reviews. A Rubicon owner with the Roll-N-Lock M-Series reports no leaks, and a 2020 Rubicon owner reports a Trifecta 2.0 seal that passed the rain and car wash test. A BAK Revolver X2 owner sees a little water seepage, and the owner who swapped Jeep's soft roll-up for an X4s says it is not 100% waterproof.

How long does a Gladiator install take?

Under an hour, going by Gladiator owners. A 2020 Rubicon owner fitted an Extang Trifecta 2.0 in about half an hour, a 2022 Mojave owner took 45 minutes over a BAKFlip MX4 and a 2026 owner calls the MX4 EZ-Lift the easiest and quickest install they have done. Extang adds a Gladiator supplement to its instructions. With an UnderCover Flex, Ultra Flex or Select, read the Gladiator sheet first, because one step cuts the plastic bed cap for good.
