Every cover here fits a GMC Sierra 1500, from 1999 trucks to the 2026 Denali. Pick your year and bed in the selector, then match the MultiPro tailgate or CarbonPro bed in the part name if your truck has one.
GMC builds the Sierra 1500 with a 5'8" Short Box, a 6'6" Standard Box or an 8' Long Box. Measured at the floor those boxes run a little longer, so several brands list them as 5'10", 6'7" and 8'2".

Match the model year too, because no part here fits both a 2018 and a 2020 Sierra 1500: 55 series fit the 2019 to 2026 truck and 53 fit the 2014 to 2018 one. The 2019 Sierra 1500 Limited, sold beside the new truck, is the 2014 to 2018 Double Cab and takes the older parts (19 series list it). The 2022 Sierra 1500 Limited is the 2021 truck carried over, with the 2019 to 2026 bed. The 2007 Sierra 1500 Classic is the 1999 to 2006 truck. No cover here lists GMC's redesigned 2027 Sierra 1500 yet.
CarbonPro bed, MultiPro tailgate and storage boxes
GMC's carbon-fiber CarbonPro box, offered on Denali and AT4 crew cab short-box trucks from 2019, needs its own part. Nineteen series make one: BAK (BAKFlip MX4 and Revolver X4s), seven Retrax covers, Extang (Trifecta 2.0 and Endure ALX), TruXedo (Lo Pro, Pro X15 and Sentry CT), Access (Lorado and Original) and all three LOMAX covers. UnderCover, Roll-N-Lock and Pace Edwards list no CarbonPro part here. A 2024 Denali Ultimate owner wrote:
“Install was a little more cumbersome due to Carbon Pro bed rails needing install, but overall was relatively straightforward once those were installed.”
RetraxPRO MX owner · 5 out of 5 stars
The MultiPro tailgate came with the 2019 truck, standard on the SLT, AT4 and Denali and on the SLE and Elevation from 2021. Most covers fit either way, and the exceptions are in the FAQ below. Owners flag two snags. The grab handle bolted inside the bed near the tailgate sits where some rear clamps and rails go, and a 2022 Sierra owner notched a RetraxONE MX rail to clear it. Two Retrax owners also say a closed cover can stop the tailgate from dropping on its own, which one cured with small adjustments.
GM's in-bed side storage boxes are the third check. Every Access and Roll-N-Lock part for 2019 to 2026 trucks rules them out, as do the Pace Edwards short-box parts and several LOMAX parts.
Choosing a cover for the Sierra 1500
The crew cab Short Box has the widest choice, with 53 series for 2020 to 2026 trucks. The BAKFlip MX4 ($1,199.99) is the middle road there: it folds flat against the cab to open the whole box, carries 400 lb closed and comes in a CarbonPro version. Here it goes onto a 2024 Sierra:
A rack narrows the list on an AT4. With the CarbonPro box, every rack-ready cover is a Retrax: the RetraxONE XR ($1,699.99), RetraxPRO XR ($2,299.99), RetraxPRO FRC-4000 EZ-OFF and the electric Retrax PowerTraxPRO XR ($2,949.99). A steel box adds the BAKFlip MX4 TS ($1,449.99) and BAK Revolver X4ts ($1,549.99). The TruXedo Pro X15 TS ($669.99) costs less but is listed only for trucks without the MultiPro tailgate, which the AT4 has as standard.
Regular Cab work trucks with the 8' Long Box have 18 series for 2019 to 2026, none from UnderCover, LOMAX or Pace Edwards. The Extang Solid Fold ALX ($1,199.99) is rated for 600 lb. The RetraxPRO MX ($2,149.99) and Roll-N-Lock M-Series ($1,699.99) are the only retractables, and the BAK Revolver X4ts is the only hard cover with T-slot rails.
Soft covers all start under $700 on the Sierra, and five have a CarbonPro part, among them the Extang Trifecta 2.0 ($469.99) and TruXedo Lo Pro ($519.99). On a steel box, the Extang Trifecta e-Series ($339.99) is the entry-level pick.
Brands we carry for the Sierra 1500
Nine brands make covers for the Sierra 1500 here, and six of them offer at least one CarbonPro part. The table shows a series or two from each, with its 2019 to 2026 boxes.
From prices are where each series starts on the Sierra 1500. The exact part depends on your box, your tailgate and whether the bed is steel or CarbonPro.
On a 2019 to 2026 Sierra the Extang Trifecta 2.0 ($469.99) covers all three boxes and is the only soft folding cover here with a CarbonPro version. It clamps on by hand and folds forward to open two-thirds of the box, and the front clamps release when you need all of it. Skip it if cargo will ride on top, because Extang publishes no load rating; a 2025 Sierra owner with the MultiPro tailgate also found the rear clamps hard to set beside its grab handle.
The BAK Revolver X4s ($1,399.99) has its own part for the CarbonPro Short Box and rolls onto a spool behind the cab, so the whole box opens and the rear window and camera stay clear. It holds 400 lb closed and carries BAK's Level-3 security rating. Skip it if you will not drill: one owner fitting the CarbonPro part drilled through the bed's plastic rail cover to lock the rails down.
UnderCover sprays the Elite LX ($1,499.99) to GMC factory paint codes, lines the underside with carpet and rates the lid for 500 lb. It comes in separate MultiPro and standard-tailgate versions for 2019 to 2026 Short and Standard Boxes. Skip it on a CarbonPro or Long Box truck (neither has a part) or if the tailgate must open while the bed is locked, because the lid holds it shut.
The RetraxPRO XR ($2,299.99) has integrated T-slot rails for cross bars, carries 500 lb on double-wall aluminum slats and comes in a CarbonPro version for the AT4's optional carbon box. It has no 2019 to 2026 Long Box part. Skip it if the budget stops under $2,000: the RetraxONE XR ($1,699.99) keeps the rails and the CarbonPro part but is rated for 200 lb.
Folds flat against the cab
Folded up, the BAKFlip MX4 ($1,199.99) stands against the back window and opens the whole box, and BAK makes it for the CarbonPro Short Box as well as all three steel boxes.
Stops anywhere, carries 500 lb
The RetraxPRO MX ($2,149.99) stops at any point along its track and holds 500 lb closed, and it has 2019 to 2026 parts for the CarbonPro box and the 8' Long Box.
Fits either Sierra tailgate
Roll-N-Lock lists the M-Series ($1,699.99) for all three 2019 to 2026 steel boxes with or without the MultiPro tailgate, and it locks with a keyed latch.
Sierra 1500 tonneau cover FAQs
What size bed does my Sierra 1500 have?
On 2019 to 2026 trucks, the Crew Cab comes with the 5'8" Short Box or the 6'6" Standard Box, the Double Cab with the Standard Box and the Regular Cab mostly with the 8' Long Box. To check, measure inside the bed at floor level, bulkhead to closed tailgate: about 70 inches is the Short Box, 79 the Standard Box and 98 the Long Box. Then pick that box in the selector.
Do covers work with the MultiPro tailgate?
Most do, with no special part. UnderCover's Elite and Elite LX and the TruXedo Pro X15 come in separate versions for trucks with and without it, so match yours. The TruXedo Pro X15 TS, the Access TonnoSport and UnderCover's 6'6" Select part are listed only for trucks without it. LOMAX, Roll-N-Lock and the other Access covers state that they fit either tailgate.
Will a Sierra 1500 cover fit a Sierra 2500 HD?
Only on some trucks. Many 6'6" and 8' parts for the 2014 to 2018 Sierra 1500 also list the 2015 to 2019 Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD. From 2020 the HD's Standard Box is 6'9", so no 2019 to 2026 Short or Standard Box part here fits it. Seven Long Box parts do cross over: six TruXedo series and the Roll-N-Lock M-Series list both the 2019 to 2026 Sierra 1500 and the 2020 to 2026 HD.
Will a tonneau cover keep my Sierra bed dry?
Mostly. A 2022 Denali owner says a car wash left the bed completely dry under an Extang Trifecta ALX. A BAKFlip MX4 owner with the CarbonPro bed reports about 90% of the water kept out through a high-pressure car wash, while a 2019 Denali owner sees a little water under a RetraxPRO MX in heavy Florida rain. Retrax covers carry water out through drain tubes, but several owners on GMC trucks had to drill the bed's drain holes larger or adapt the tubing.
Do I have to drill my Sierra to fit a cover?
Not on a steel box, where the covers clamp to the bed rails, though a drop-in plastic liner may need trimming. The CarbonPro box is capped in plastic: the CarbonPro kits for the TruXedo Lo Pro and Pro X15 include drill guides for a 7 mm hole through the cap at each mounting point, reaching threaded holes underneath. BAK and Retrax owners report drilling for their CarbonPro parts too, and LOMAX lists its CarbonPro parts as bolt-on.
