Ridgeline tonneau covers that fit your bed

The Ridgeline has only ever come as a four-door crew cab with one bed length per generation, so the model year is all a cover needs. Honda built no 2015 or 2016 Ridgeline: the first generation ended with the 2014 model and the second began with the 2017.

GenerationModel yearsBed length (Honda)Listed here asSeries that fit
First2006 to 201460.1 in5'4
Second2017 to 202664 in5'4"32

For a first-generation truck the choice is the Extang Trifecta 2.0, TruXedo Lo Pro, Access Original and BAKFlip G2. Every other series on this page starts at 2017.

The In-Bed Trunk

The lockable In-Bed Trunk under the bed floor, 7.3 cubic feet on 2017 to 2026 trucks and 8.5 on the first generation, is the factory feature to plan around. Its lid swings up, and a cover's side rails can stop it short. Access lists its LiteRider, Lorado and Original with the note that the trunk lid cannot open fully, and Roll-N-Lock says its M-Series cuts the trunk opening to 20 inches. No other series here carries a trunk note in our fitment data.

Dual-action tailgate and composite bed

The dual-action tailgate drops like any tailgate or swings out like a door. A Black Edition owner with the BAKFlip MX4 wrote:

“Sleek looking addition for my Black Edition. The install was fine-tuned using a pair of handscrew wood clamps to hold the rails in place while I tightened the screws. Operates beautifully with my dual-action tailgate.”

BAKFlip MX4 owner · 5 out of 5 stars

UnderCover's one-piece LUX and SE lids and the Roll-N-Lock M-Series are the exceptions to plan for, because each holds the tailgate shut until the cover is open.

Honda molds the bed from composite rather than sheet steel, and several kits carry Ridgeline-only hardware. Owners report fitting an extra set of adapter rails with the BAKFlip G2 and MX4 and custom brackets with the Extang Endure ALX, and Extang adds a Ridgeline supplement to the Trifecta 2.0 install sheet.

Choosing a cover for the Ridgeline

Soft covers on the Ridgeline run from $369.99 for the Extang Trifecta e-Series to $719.99 for the TruXedo Pro X15 TS. The Trifecta 2.0 ($519.99) is the soft folder that also fits the 5 ft bed, and it lifts off by hand when a load needs the whole box.

Security depends on your model year. Honda made the tailgate power-lock with the doors from the 2020 model year, and most hard folding covers here, the BAKFlip MX4 and UnderCover Flex among them, have no key: they release from inside the bed and rely on a locked tailgate. On a 2017 to 2019 truck, look at keyed covers that hold the tailgate shut, such as UnderCover's LUX ($1,299.99) and SE ($1,349.99) or the Roll-N-Lock M-Series ($1,699.99). Valuables can also ride in the lockable trunk.

The Extang Solid Fold ALX ($1,249.99) carries 600 lb closed, the highest rating published for any Ridgeline cover here, and the RetraxPRO MX ($2,149.99) and Extang Endure ALX ($1,499.99) carry 500 lb. For snow country, a 2021 Ridgeline owner back from a ski trip reports very little moisture in the bed and a BAK Revolver X4s ($1,479.99) that still rolled up after a freezing night.

Three series give the Ridgeline T-slot rails for cross bars or a bed rack: the TruXedo Pro X15 TS, BAKFlip MX4 TS ($1,449.99) and RetraxPRO XR ($2,299.99). TruXedo's own chart rates just 5 of 19 listed racks and accessories as fully compatible with the Pro X15 TS, so check yours first.

Brands we carry for the Ridgeline

Eight brands build covers for the 5'4" bed, and four of them, Extang, TruXedo, Access and BAK, still make one for the first-generation 5 ft bed. The table shows the main series from each.

Our picks for the Ridgeline

Best Ridgeline cover for In-Bed Trunk access

A Ridgeline owner who picked the Extang Trifecta 2.0 ($519.99) to keep the trunk usable reports that the lid still opens fully. It folds toward the cab to open two-thirds of the bed, fits both the 5 ft and 5'4" beds and carries a limited lifetime warranty. Skip it if tools stay in the bed of a 2017 to 2019 truck, where a tarp is only as secure as a tailgate that does not power-lock with the doors.

Best Ridgeline cover for 2006 to 2014 trucks

The BAKFlip G2 ($1,149.99) is the only hard cover listed for the first-generation 5 ft bed, rated for 300 lb with a three-year warranty. A 2009 owner reports a 30-minute install and notched the rubber plug over the bed's weep hole to seat the drain tube. Skip it if you want a five-year warranty and a 400 lb rating: BAK's MX4 has both but fits only 2017 and later trucks.

Best Ridgeline cover for a locked bed

The Roll-N-Lock M-Series ($1,699.99) locks with a key, and a tailgate extrusion keeps the tailgate from dropping while the cover is latched, which matters most on 2017 to 2019 trucks without Honda's power-locking tailgate. A Ridgeline owner confirms you unlock the cover first, then open the tailgate. Skip it if you load tall items into the In-Bed Trunk, because the M-Series cuts the trunk opening to 20 inches.

Best Ridgeline cover for bikes and racks

The RetraxPRO XR ($2,299.99) runs T-slot rails along both sides of the 5'4" bed for cross bars or a bed rack, and its double-wall aluminum slats carry 500 lb under a limited lifetime warranty. Its key-lockable handle opens the cover with the tailgate up. Skip it if the price stops you: the TruXedo Pro X15 TS ($719.99) also puts T-slot rails on the Ridgeline, though as a soft roll-up it gives up the hard deck.

Silver 2017 Honda Ridgeline fitted with a BAKFlip MX4 hard folding tonneau cover

Folds flat to the cab

Fold the BAKFlip MX4 ($1,249.99) up against the cab and the whole 64-inch bed opens, with the third brake light still in view.

Detail view of a RetraxONE MX retractable cover on a 2017 Honda Ridgeline

Locks part-open for long loads

The RetraxONE MX ($1,549.99) locks with a key at any point along its rails, so a long load can rest on the Ridgeline's dropped tailgate while the front of the bed stays covered.

Silver 2017 Honda Ridgeline fitted with an UnderCover Flex hard folding cover

Lifts off without tools

The UnderCover Flex ($1,149.99) is the one UnderCover folding cover that comes off without tools, so a tall load gets the whole 64-inch bed with nothing standing behind the cab, and it carries 400 lb closed.

Ridgeline tonneau cover FAQs

What bed size does my Honda Ridgeline have?

Every 2017 to 2026 Ridgeline has the same bed, which Honda lists at 64 inches and the covers here list as 5'4". The 2006 to 2014 trucks have a 5 ft bed of about 60 inches. There is no 2015 or 2016 model year, so your model year alone tells you which part fits.

Can I open the In-Bed Trunk with a cover fitted?

Yes, though on some covers the side rails stop the lid short. Access notes that its LiteRider, Lorado and Original keep the trunk lid from opening fully, and Roll-N-Lock puts the opening at 20 inches with the M-Series. If you load tall items, such as the 82-quart cooler Honda says the trunk holds, an owner reports the Extang Trifecta 2.0 lets the lid open all the way.

Do tonneau covers work with the dual-action tailgate?

Owners report they do. A BAKFlip MX4 owner says the cover operates beautifully with it, and Retrax says the RetraxPRO MX and XR open and close with the tailgate up or down. Two designs hold the tailgate shut until you open the cover: UnderCover's one-piece LUX and SE lids overlap it, and the Roll-N-Lock M-Series has a tailgate extrusion built in.

How long does a cover take to install on a Ridgeline?

Allow longer than the box says. Brands quote 30 to 60 minutes, while Ridgeline owners report about 1.5 hours for an Extang Trifecta ALX, about 2 hours for a BAK Revolver X4s and 2.5 hours for a BAKFlip MX4 TS, most of it spent lining up the latches at the tailgate. The Revolver X4s instructions also have you remove the upper tie-downs to fit a rail, though one owner refitted them without trouble.

Will a tonneau cover keep my Ridgeline bed dry?

Mostly. Neither BAK nor Retrax calls its covers waterproof, and Ridgeline owners report the same: a RetraxPRO MX owner calls it fairly watertight after heavy Florida storms, while a BAK Revolver X4s owner sees a little water at the front cab corners. The BAKFlip MX4, Roll-N-Lock M-Series and Retrax covers route water out through drain tubes. Anything that must stay dry can ride in the In-Bed Trunk, which Honda builds weather-tight.
