This is ARB's aluminum hard case awning in gloss black, with a 1,200 lumen LED light strip already built into it. The case is powder-coated aluminum with shock-cord-loaded doors instead of zippers, which is the detail that matters after a few seasons: UV-treated marine-grade shock cords hold it closed, and the doors keep the housing from rubbing the canvas as it deploys. Shade area is 8.2' x 8.2', enough for a table, chairs and the back of the vehicle.
The light is the reason to buy this version over the plain aluminum case. It runs cool white for cooking and prep or amber to keep the bugs down, it dims through a water-resistant IP58 controller, and because it is pre-mounted it packs away inside the awning every time rather than being strung up and taken down. Canvas is 300GSM with welded and heat-taped seams and a 1000mm water-head rating, on 25mm black aluminum poles with 1.2mm arms.

ARB 2.5M aluminum hard case awning in gloss black powder coat
300GSM awning canvas with welded and heat-taped seams
Pre-mounted 1,200 lumen dual-color LED light strip in an aluminum extrusion
Water-resistant IP58 digital dimmer control
Additional cable storage bag
25mm black aluminum poles with 1.2mm thick arms and flexible arm joints
1000D carry bag
Features
Light Built In, Not Strung Up A 1,200 lumen high-heat-resistant LED strip in an aluminum extrusion is pre-mounted and packs away with the awning every time. Cool white for cooking, amber to keep bugs and glare down, dimmable through a water-resistant IP58 digital control.
Aluminum Case, No Zippers A gloss black powder-coated aluminum housing with shock-cord-loaded doors. UV-treated marine-grade shock cords replace zippers entirely, and the doors stop the housing rubbing on the canvas when the awning is out.
8.2' x 8.2' Of Cover Enough shade for a table, chairs and the working area at the back of the vehicle, which is the size most people actually want once they have lived with a small awning.
Sealed Against Weather 300GSM canvas with welded and heat-taped seams and a 1000mm water-head rating, so it sheds a real downpour rather than misting through it.
Poles That Take Abuse 25mm black aluminum poles with 1.2mm thick arms and flexible arm joints designed to absorb stress instead of cracking, all stored in a 1000D carry bag that resists abrasion and UV.
Sets Up In Minutes The hard case opens on its shock cords and the awning deploys in minutes, with the light already wired and mounted where it needs to be.
Fitment & Compatibility
Application
Fit
Roof racks and platform racks rated for the awning weight
✓ Fits
ARB BASE Rack and ARB Touring and Flat racks
✓ Fits
Crossbars with adequate spread for a 98" case
✓ Fits, check bar spacing
Vehicles with no roof rack or crossbars fitted
● Requires a rack or bars first
Mounting points above 6.9' high
● Check leg extension before ordering
Fit guidance: The case is 98" long, so the limiting factor is usually crossbar spread and rack length rather than the vehicle. A hard case awning is also permanently exposed to the airstream, so mount it to a rack rated for the load and re-check the fasteners after the first few trips.

Warranty. ARB covers this product with a 3-year unlimited-mileage warranty through ARB North America (Air Locker Inc., Auburn, WA), which is the term ARB publishes for this part. Canvas and fabric goods are covered against manufacturing defects rather than wear, storm damage or UV degradation over time. We describe ARB's warranty exactly as ARB publishes it and make no additions to it; claims are handled through any authorized US dealer, including us.
Free shipping. This item ships free to the lower 48 states. Because it is an oversized item, it ships by freight and typically arrives in 3 to 7 business days.
Inspect on delivery. Please inspect the packaging before signing. If you see any damage, note it on the delivery receipt and contact us right away, and we will make it right.
Compliance. ARB rates the LED dimmer control to IP58.
About ARB
ARB began in 1975 when Tony Brown came home from a Cape York trip convinced the four-wheel drives crossing Australia needed better equipment than anyone was selling, and started hand-building bull bars and roof racks in his Melbourne driveway. Fifty years on, ARB is the largest 4x4 accessories manufacturer and distributor in Australia, with an engineering campus at Kilsyth in Victoria, offices in the USA, Europe and the Middle East, and an export network reaching more than 100 countries.
The touring and camping range grew out of the same place the bull bars did: long trips across the Simpson Desert and the Kimberley, where a failed zipper or a cracked pole is a genuine problem rather than an inconvenience. In North America ARB operates from Auburn, Washington as Air Locker Inc., which handles warranty and support for US buyers. Prestige Truck is an authorized ARB dealer. What ships from us is genuine US-market ARB stock with full ARB North America warranty coverage.
The Long-Form Awning Walkthrough
ARB's nine-minute film on its awning range: how the canvas is cut and sewn, how the extrusions and telescopic legs are put together, and what the awning looks like deployed at a real camp.
It is the most detailed look ARB has published at how these awnings are built, and it covers the same parts and construction this component belongs to.
The ARB Story
How a Melbourne driveway operation building bull bars for outback tourers in 1975 became the largest 4x4 accessories maker in the southern hemisphere.
Seven minutes filmed by ARB across its own factories and proving grounds, for anyone curious who is behind the gear.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
How bright is the light and how is it powered?
ARB rates the strip at 1,200 lumens, with cool white and amber modes and a water-resistant IP58 digital dimmer. It runs from your vehicle 12V supply through the supplied cable, and there is a cable storage bag for the slack when it is packed.
Why amber as well as white?
Amber attracts far fewer insects than white light and is easier on night vision, so it works as the general camp mode. Cool white is the one you want over a cooking and prep area.
What is the difference between this and the soft case awnings?
This one lives in a powder-coated aluminum housing with shock-cord doors rather than a canvas bag with zippers. It is more robust in the airstream, quicker to deploy, and it has the LED strip built in. It also weighs and costs more, which is the trade.
Will the LED strip stay on the awning when I pack it away?
Yes, that is the point of the design. The light is pre-mounted in an aluminum extrusion and packs down inside the awning every time, so there is nothing to hang up and take down at each camp.
How waterproof is it?
300GSM canvas with welded and heat-taped seams and a 1000mm water-head rating. Seams are the usual failure point on awnings, which is why ARB welds and tapes rather than only stitching them.
What is the warranty?
3 years, unlimited mileage, through ARB North America, which is the term ARB publishes for this part. Fabric is covered for manufacturing defects rather than storm damage or UV wear.

Look is great. 100 lbs
Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

A must have
I really like this mat. I was apprehensive at first but, the mat does a great job of keeping things from sliding around without having to secure it. perfect fit. But i think i will be adding some short screws to secure the mat to the DECKED system.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.

The toolbox is nice. I think Ill get a lot of years of service out of it. I like how the lid opens and the tie downs are a nice touch. It seems to be well built. And tough. Im pleased with my purchase and would buy another one.
