The ARB Essentials Recovery Kit is the kit that covers a real recovery without the extras. It is built around the ARB 17,600 lb snatch strap, the strap that has won recovery strap comparisons in Australia and elsewhere, with a genuine 20% stretch that takes the shock out of a recovery instead of putting it into your chassis.
The updated bag is as much of the product as the contents. It uses a 600gsm outer that wipes clean and keeps a wet, sandy strap from soaking everything else, with heavy duty buckles, reflective strips and multiple compartments and sewn in shackle holders so every item has a home. The point of a kit over loose gear is that when you need it, you are not emptying a bag onto the sand looking for a shackle.

Includes A Snatch Block Unlike lighter kits, the Essentials includes ARB's Ultra Light snatch block, which is what lets you rig a double line pull and roughly double your winch capacity.
600gsm Wipe Clean Outer A 600gsm outer shell that cleans easily and keeps the bag and its contents from getting damp. Recovery gear that lives wet does not last.
Everything Has A Place Compartments and sewn in shackle holders, so the kit is inventoried at a glance and nothing is loose in the bottom of the bag when you open it in the dark.

Is the strap big enough for my truck?
ARB's rule is two to three times the gross vehicle mass of the lighter vehicle. The 17,600 lb strap in this kit therefore suits vehicles between roughly 5,800 and 8,800 lb GVM, which covers most four wheel drives. Heavier rigs should step up a strap size.
What does the snatch block do?
Rigged as a double line pull it roughly doubles your winch pulling power, and it lets you redirect a pull around an obstacle to an off angle anchor. It is the most useful thing in the bag if you have a winch.
Do I need a damper as well?
Yes, and this kit does not include one. ARB sells the ARB220 recovery damper separately, and the bag has room for it. A damper is the cheapest safety item you can add.
Can I buy the bag on its own?
Yes. ARB sells the bags separately: the large bag is ARB501A, the small is ARB502A and the compact is ARB503A. This kit ships with the small one.
What is the warranty?
ARB publishes a 3 year warranty covering the kit. Individual straps and shackles are consumable safety equipment: inspect them before every use and retire on condition, not on age.

Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

I really like this mat. I was apprehensive at first but, the mat does a great job of keeping things from sliding around without having to secure it. perfect fit. But i think i will be adding some short screws to secure the mat to the DECKED system.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.

The toolbox is nice. I think Ill get a lot of years of service out of it. I like how the lid opens and the tie downs are a nice touch. It seems to be well built. And tough. Im pleased with my purchase and would buy another one.
