Night Driving Technique

ARB on how to actually use auxiliary lighting at night: beam selection, aiming, and reading the road ahead at speed. Worth watching before you aim a new set of lights for the first time.

Driving At Dawn And Dusk

The hardest light of the day for spotting animals and road edges, and how ARB recommends setting up auxiliary lighting for it. Short, practical and filmed by ARB.

The ARB Story

How a Melbourne driveway operation building bull bars for outback tourers in 1975 became the southern hemisphere's biggest 4x4 accessories maker. Seven minutes on the company behind this product, filmed by ARB across its Australian factories and proving grounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

What does the dimming actually do for me?

It lets you keep the lights on in conditions where you would otherwise switch them off. Dust, fog, a reflective rock wall a few feet from the track: at full output all of those throw glare straight back at you. Winding the Solis down to a lower preset keeps useful light on the road without the wash-back. Five preset levels, selected from a touchpad.

Do I have to buy the loom separately?

Yes, and you need it for the dimming to work. The SJBHARN loom includes the touchpad dimmer that gives the Solis its defining feature. Alternatively, if you run an ARB LINX accessory interface, the SJBLINX patch lead connects the Solis to it and gives you dimming, fade rates and preset lighting modes through LINX instead.

Should I get the spot or the flood?

The spot concentrates output into a narrow cone and reaches 835 m, which is what you want for distance on open roads. The flood spreads it wider and closer for corners, verges and slower going. ARB designed the pair to work together, and running one of each per side is the setup that gives you both.

Can I run four of them?

Yes, but you need the SJBCABY splitter cable to do it while keeping grouped dimming from one touchpad. ARB is explicit that the splitter is the only way to connect three or four Solis lights and retain proper dimming control across all of them without overloading the circuit.

Why is the body that shape?

ARB calls it the squatting design and it is deliberate. A lower, wider body sits better on a bull bar pan and puts the center of gravity closer to the mounting point, which means less oscillation over corrugations and less stress fed into both the light and the bar.

What is the warranty?

3 years, which is the term ARB publishes for this part. Administered in North America by ARB out of Auburn, Washington, and honored through authorized dealers like us.
