This is the center section ONLY, and it is not a complete hitch. The complete kit is GNRK1309. What is in this box is the center section: the machined receiver socket, the 2-5/16" gooseneck ball, the 5/8" steel locking pin, the spring loaded latch handle and the safety chain u-bolts. The under-bed frame and the vehicle specific brackets that hold it to the truck are in the mounting kit, which is the other box and is not included here. To end up with a working hitch you need this part and the GNRM1309. B&W ships the Turnoverball as separate boxes, which is why these halves can be bought on their own and are stocked as service parts. That makes this the right listing if you are replacing a damaged or worn half, moving a hitch between trucks of the same make, or completing a two box shipment where one box did not arrive. It is the wrong listing if you are buying a gooseneck hitch for the first time: order GNRK1309 instead. It suits the same trucks as GNRK1309: 2009-2018 Dodge/Ram 1500 Trucks (Only GNXA4685 and RVK3500 with Special Post Will Work with this Hitch), and 2019-2024 Ram 1500 Classic Trucks. Assembled into its complete kit, the hitch is rated 30,000 lb gross trailer weight and 7,500 lb vertical tongue weight with the included 2-5/16" gooseneck ball, and never more than your own truck's tow and weight ratings.
What's Included:
Center section with solid one-piece machined receiver socket
2-5/16" solid machined gooseneck ball, stows inverted in the receiver
5/8" steel locking pin with spring loaded latch handle
Two spring loaded safety chain u-bolts
NOT INCLUDED: the vehicle specific under-bed mounting kit (GNRM1309)
NOT INCLUDED: this is not a complete hitch. The complete kit is GNRK1309.
Features
Center Section Only, Not a Complete Hitch This is the center section ONLY, and it is not a complete hitch. The complete kit is GNRK1309. We are saying this first and saying it plainly because it is the one thing that goes wrong when these parts are sold online. The other half is the GNRM1309. Buying this alone gets you a socket, ball and latch with nothing holding them to the truck. If you want a hitch, order GNRK1309.
Where the Socket, Ball and Latch Live The center section carries every moving part of a Turnoverball: the solid one-piece machined receiver socket, the solid machined 2-5/16" gooseneck ball, the 5/8" steel locking pin that passes all the way through that ball, the spring loaded handle that drives it, and the two spring loaded safety chain u-bolts. It is also the half that actually wears, which is why it is kept as a service part.
Turns Over and Stows in Its Own Socket The Turnoverball behavior this part is named for works the same whichever half you are replacing. Pull the handle in the wheel well toward you and rotate it slightly left to lock the pin out, lift the ball, turn it over and drop it back into the same receiver upside down. The bed goes flat. Rotate or push the handle right and the spring pops the latch back into place, ready to tow.
Rated 30,000 lb gross trailer weight and 7,500 lb vertical tongue weight with the 2-5/16" gooseneck ball Capacity on a gooseneck depends on which ball is in the socket, so the number always carries the ball with it. With the 2-5/16" gooseneck ball supplied in this kit the rating is 30,000 lb gross trailer weight and 7,500 lb vertical tongue weight. B&W's own position, printed in the Turnoverball owner's manual, is that the hitch is rated to tow what your truck is rated to tow. Look up your truck's GVWR, GCWR and maximum tow rating before you load a trailer, and treat the hitch numbers as a ceiling you work under rather than a target.
Fits the Same Trucks as GNRK1309 This part belongs to GNRK1309, which B&W lists for 2009-2018 Dodge/Ram 1500 Trucks (Only GNXA4685 and RVK3500 with Special Post Will Work with this Hitch), and 2019-2024 Ram 1500 Classic Trucks. Only GNXA4685 and RVK3500 with Special Post Will Work with this Hitch Confirm your truck against that kit before ordering, because the fitment of a component is the fitment of its kit.
Made in the USA, Built by B&W in Humboldt, Kansas The hitch is manufactured in B&W's own plant in Humboldt, Kansas, from American steel, by a workforce that owns the company. It is tested to SAE J2638, the gooseneck and fifth wheel standard, with B&W's stricter internal rule that one sample has to pass all three 300,000 cycle dynamic tests and then the six static tests as well. It carries B&W's Lifetime Exclusive Limited Warranty.

Work from the GNRK1309 installation instructions linked in Resources, which cover where the center section drops in and how the latch is set. Torque values and hole locations come from that sheet, not from this page.

About B&W Trailer Hitches
B&W Trailer Hitches started in a Humboldt, Kansas garage in 1987, with two men and an idea. Roger Baker and Joe Works, the B and the W, were building custom truck beds when they got tired of the one thing every gooseneck customer complained about: a ball welded permanently into the bed, in the way every day of the year for the few days a year it was actually towing. They designed a hitch that mounted underneath the bed and a ball that turned over and stowed in its own receiver, and the Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch was born. A few years later the same under-bed mounting system became the single-point Companion fifth wheel hitch, which is why a Turnoverball socket still accepts a Companion today.
Everything B&W sells is still made in Humboldt. Roger retired in 1999, and in 2007 Joe began transferring ownership of the company to its employees, so the roughly 600 people working in the plant today are also its owners. They buy American steel on purpose and say why: the sheet steel comes out of Burns Harbor, Indiana, and the round bar that becomes the gooseneck ball is drawn at a mill in Norfolk, Nebraska, because when the strength of a piece of steel is the only thing between a truck and a loose trailer, B&W wants a mill it can hold to a specification.
Their testing story is worth knowing before you compare hitches on price. SAE J2638 is the performance standard for gooseneck and fifth wheel hitches, and B&W is blunt that it is only a recommended practice, not a legal requirement to sell one. The standard allows a manufacturer to use a fresh sample for each of its nine tests. B&W's own engineering requirement is stricter: a single hitch has to survive all three 300,000 cycle dynamic tests and then still pass the six static tests, because, as their director of engineering puts it, an accident rarely happens when a hitch is brand new, it happens after years of wear from the road.
Prestige Truck is an authorized B&W dealer. Every hitch we ship is new, in the factory carton, and covered by B&W's Lifetime Exclusive Limited Warranty direct from Humboldt.
B&W Turnoverball Maintenance
B&W's maintenance guide for the Turnoverball: greasing the four corners of the square post, keeping the latch spring clean by popping the handle a few times, and freeing a ball that has started to stick.
Relevant to the center section in particular, since that is where every moving part lives.
The B&W Story
B&W started in 1987 in a rented garage in Humboldt, Kansas, when Roger Baker and Joe Works began building truck beds and the first Turnoverball gooseneck hitch. This short film tells that story in the founders' own words.
The same family of employee-owners still builds every hitch in that Kansas plant today, which is why the company puts its name on a lifetime warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
Is this a complete gooseneck hitch?
No. This listing is the center section only, part number GNRC909, and on its own it will not tow anything. It is one of the two boxes that make up a complete B&W Turnoverball. The complete kit is GNRK1309. To build a hitch from parts you also need the GNRM1309 mounting kit for your truck. If you are buying a hitch rather than replacing or completing one, order the complete kit instead.
Who should buy this part on its own?
Someone replacing the part of a Turnoverball that actually wears: the socket, the ball, the latch pin and the handle all live in the center section. Buying it separately lets you keep frame brackets that are already installed and bolted up under the bed. Someone completing a two box shipment where only the mounting kit arrived is the other case. A first time buyer wants the complete kit.
What is in the box?
The center section with the machined receiver socket, the 2-5/16" gooseneck ball, the 5/8" steel locking pin, the spring loaded latch handle and the safety chain u-bolts. The vehicle specific under-bed frame and brackets are not in this box, they are in the mounting kit.
What trucks does it suit?
The same trucks as GNRK1309: 2009-2018 Dodge/Ram 1500 Trucks (Only GNXA4685 and RVK3500 with Special Post Will Work with this Hitch), and 2019-2024 Ram 1500 Classic Trucks Only GNXA4685 and RVK3500 with Special Post Will Work with this Hitch
How much can the finished hitch tow?
Assembled into its complete kit and with the 2-5/16" gooseneck ball fitted, the Turnoverball is rated at 30,000 lb gross trailer weight and 7,500 lb vertical tongue weight. Capacity on a gooseneck always belongs to the ball that is in the socket, so that number goes with the 2-5/16" ball and not with any other.
Why is the weight on this page different from the number B&W prints?
B&W quotes the weight of this part as it sits inside the complete kit, which is about 39 lb. The packed carton it ships in weighs about 38 lb. We publish the shipping weight because that is what turns up on your dock. Both numbers describe the same part.

Look is great. 100 lbs
Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

A must have
I really like this mat. I was apprehensive at first but, the mat does a great job of keeping things from sliding around without having to secure it. perfect fit. But i think i will be adding some short screws to secure the mat to the DECKED system.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.

The toolbox is nice. I
The toolbox is nice. I think Ill get a lot of years of service out of it. I like how the lid opens and the tie downs are a nice touch. It seems to be well built. And tough. Im pleased with my purchase and would buy another one.
