This kit is the choice when a crossover toolbox spans the bed behind the cab, so the rack and the box share the front of the bed.

Toolbox slides forward
The toolbox rides on top of the brackets and can be pushed forward toward the cab, which saves usable bed length.

Toolbox clamps not needed
The toolbox is fastened to the tops of the brackets with screws or bolts through the box floor, so the clamp hooks that came with the toolbox can stay in the drawer.

About BackRack

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Does this kit include the headache rack or the toolbox?

No. The kit is the mounting hardware only. The BackRack frame and the crossover toolbox are each sold separately.

Which toolbox size do I need?

Measure the toolbox front to back across its base and pick the matching 21" or 31" kit. The bracket length has to suit the box that will sit on it.

Do I have to drill?

You fasten the toolbox to the brackets with screws or bolts through the toolbox floor, so plan on drilling the box. Whether the truck itself needs any drilling depends on the application, and the brackets-only parts may need drilling on some trucks.

Can I run a tonneau cover with this kit?

No. The toolbox kit is not compatible with the BackRack tonneau cover adapter brackets. A tonneau setup uses a tonneau adapter kit instead.

What is the difference between this and the low profile kit?

Here the toolbox rides on top of the brackets and can slide forward. The low profile drill kit sets the toolbox down at bed rail height using the toolbox's own clamps, and it requires drilling the bed rail.

Can I buy just the brackets?

Yes. The brackets-only parts replace the toolbox brackets and reuse the fasteners from your original kit.
