Features

  • Brackets Made for This Vehicle: The mounts follow this vehicle's windshield pillar or cowl, so the lights tuck in close to the body instead of hanging from a universal clamp.
  • High Mount, Wide View: Lights at windshield height reach past the hood and throw light across both sides of the trail, where corners and obstacles show up first.
  • XL Pods in the Kit: Each kit comes with a pair of Baja Designs XL pods, which use its high-speed spot reflectors for a longer, wider beam; the model is in the kit name.
  • Lens Patterns by Lighting Zone: Baja Designs sorts its patterns by Lighting Zone: Spot for distance, Driving/Combo to blend reach with spread, Wide Cornering for the sides of the trail and Work/Scene for close-up light.
  • Sealed Against Water and Dust: Baja Designs seals its lights with O-rings rather than silicone beads and rates them IP69K, so rain, pressure washing and river crossings stay outside the housing.
  • Lifetime Limited Warranty: The lights carry Baja Designs' limited lifetime warranty for recreational use plus its 30-day satisfaction guarantee; brackets and harnesses carry their maker's warranty.

About Baja Designs

BAJA DESIGNS

Baja Designs started in San Diego, California in 1992, founded by riders who raced the Baja 1000. Its engineers tuned race lights for night stages, which earned them the nickname The Scientists of Lighting, and in 2005 the company ran its first forward-projecting LED light bar in the Baja 1000.

Today Baja Designs lights trucks, Jeeps, SUVs, vans, UTVs and motorcycles. Its Lighting Zones method matches the lens pattern to the job and the mounting spot on the vehicle: dust and fog, cornering, driving, spot, rock and cargo, and reverse. Baja Designs is part of the Bestop Premium Accessories Group.

Authorized Baja Designs dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized Baja Designs dealer. Baja Designs says its full limited warranty does not apply to lights bought from unauthorized marketplace sellers; a purchase here carries it, and you can bring any claim to us first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the XL80 A-Pillar Light Kit fit my vehicle?

The fit table lists the 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler (JK). Check your year and model in the fit table, and send us your VIN if you would like us to confirm.

Does the kit use factory mounting points?

Yes. Baja Designs says this JK A-pillar kit bolts to the stock windshield mounting points.

Are A-pillar lights street legal?

No. Baja Designs rates its Squadron, S1, S2, XL and LP4 pods for off-road use only, so keep them switched off on public roads and check your local laws.

Will lights on the A-pillar cause glare on the hood?

They can, because the pods sit above the hood line. Baja Designs sells angled bezels for Squadron pods and IPT reflector covers for LP4 pods to cut that glare; ask us which suits your kit.

Do I need to drill?

Baja Designs builds most A-pillar kits around existing mounting points on the windshield frame or cowl. Each kit's fit notes and install sheet show the steps for that vehicle.

What does the warranty cover?

Baja Designs' limited lifetime warranty for recreational use covers defects in design and manufacturing on the lights; brackets and harnesses carry their maker's warranty. Details are in the warranty tile.

Installation

TypeNot stated by Baja Designs
ToolsT40 and T30 Torx Drivers, 9/16" Wrench and Socket, 4mm Allen Wrench, 10mm Wrench

Here's the short version. Follow Baja Designs' install sheet (below) for your vehicle's exact positions, wiring and hardware.

  1. Remove the two driver side bolts (T40 Torx) and the two wiper cowl panel bolts (T30 Torx), set the driver side bracket over the two holes and hand-tighten the bolts.
  2. Assemble the Squadron lights on their brackets with the 9/16" hex head bolt fitted first and the 4mm Allen head bolts, then mount them to the A-pillar brackets and tighten with a 9/16" wrench and socket.
  3. Lift the wiper cowl panel on each side to route the power cords inside it, connect the splitter harness to the lights and to the main harness near the battery, and refit the four T30 cowl bolts. Route the switch lead across the firewall to the driver side, mount the switch and reconnect its terminals.
  4. Connect the harness to the battery (10mm), red (+) first, then black (-). Turn the lights on, aim them, tighten, tie the wires away from hot, sharp or moving parts, and re-torque after 100 miles.

Baja Designs backs its LED light bars and auxiliary lights with a limited lifetime warranty for recreational use.
    • Recreational automotive and off-road use: limited lifetime or 49,930 hours of operation, whichever comes first. Commercial use (agriculture, industrial, mining and public safety): 5 years or 49,930 hours. The term starts on the date the product ships.
    • Coverage is for defects in design and manufacturing, for the original owner with proof of purchase or product registration. Baja Designs repairs or replaces the product or issues credit, at its option, and may substitute a similar product of comparable value if the original is no longer made.
    • Not covered: installation errors, wear and tear, acts of God, misuse, abuse, neglect, accidents, collisions, and any modification or combination Baja Designs did not perform. Labor to remove or reinstall a warranty part is not paid.
    • Brackets, wiring harnesses and switches that Baja Designs resells carry their own maker's warranty, which Baja Designs passes through to you.
