1,500 lb of Evenly Distributed Capacity The 1500 Contractor is rated to carry 1,500 lb spread across the deck. Evenly distributed is the operative phrase and it is worth reading literally: the rating assumes the load is spread over the tray rather than stacked on one corner or concentrated over the extended end. Loaded that way, this tray will take tools, materials and site gear on a working truck.
75% Extension That Brings the Load to You The deck runs out to 75% of its length, so the load comes to you at the tailgate instead of you climbing over the rail to reach the bulkhead. BEDSLIDE runs 75% on the 1000 Classic, the 1500 Contractor and the 2000 Heavy Duty alike; it does not scale with capacity. If you want the deck to come all the way out, that is the MAX Extension range.
WEATHERDECK Composite Deck The deck is BEDSLIDE's own WEATHERDECK composite rather than plywood or bare steel. It lives outdoors for its entire life, so it is built not to swell, rot or de-laminate when it gets rained on, loaded wet or hosed out. It also takes a textured surface that stops light loads sliding around on the tray.
BEDTRAX Rails and Four D-Ring Tie-Downs BEDTRAX T-slot rails run the length of the deck with four D-ring tie-downs supplied, so you can strap a load down properly instead of hoping it stays put. The rails also take the BEDSLIDE accessory range, including the BedBin storage boxes, if you want to divide the tray up later.
Perimeter Guardrail and Headboard Included The guardrail kit is in the box, not an upsell. It runs the full perimeter of the deck and includes the headboard section that keeps a load off the cab end, so loose cargo stays on the tray while it is moving and while it is running in and out.

BEDSLIDE specifically advises against installing over a bed liner, because liners vary in thickness and profile and the tray may need adjusting to sit flat and run true. On an aluminum bed, use BEDSLIDE's aluminum bed kit, part BSA-HALUMKT: fastening steel directly to an aluminum bed invites galvanic corrosion, and BEDSLIDE's warranty excludes corrosion caused by improper installation. The tray weighs 150 lb, so lift it in with two people and check the deck runs cleanly through its full travel and latches in every position before you load it. Will the 63" x 47" fit my truck?

That said, BEDSLIDE fits by bed size and not by a vehicle specific kit, and the 63" x 47" figure is the OUTER dimension of the tray including the handle, built to a .25" tolerance. Measure the inside of your bed floor before you order. Bed liners, bed mats, wheel well intrusions and factory tie-down hardware all eat into the space the tray needs, and a drop-in liner in particular can be the difference between a fit and a return.
How far does it actually slide out?
75% of the deck length. That applies to the 1000 Classic, the 1500 Contractor and the 2000 Heavy Duty equally, so do not assume the higher capacity trays reach further, because they do not. If you want the deck to come all the way out, that is the MAX Extension range, which extends 100% and sits on a 7" profile rather than 4.5".
What does 1,500 lb capacity actually mean?
It means 1,500 lb spread evenly across the deck, which is how BEDSLIDE rates it and how the bearings are designed to see the load. It does not mean 1,500 lb stacked on one corner, and it does not mean 1,500 lb concentrated on the end of the deck at full extension, which is the worst case for any slide. Load it flat and load it spread out and this tray will do the rated number all day. Overloading it, or point loading it, is one of the things BEDSLIDE's warranty specifically excludes.

Do I have to drill my truck bed?
Not necessarily on this one. This product offers a no-drill install kit option, No-Drill Brackets (2022+ Tundra 5.5' Bed), which uses the truck's own factory mounting points instead of holes in the bed floor. Choose that variant from the install kit selector and the bracket set comes in the carton. The Standard Drill-In variant is the conventional installation, which is what most trucks use. Either way it is roughly an hour of work, it is much easier with a second person because the tray is heavy, and BEDSLIDE recommends having a dealer do it. One thing to know regardless: installing over a bed liner is not recommended, because liners vary and the tray may need shimming, and on an aluminum bed you need BEDSLIDE's aluminum bed kit, part BSA-HALUMKT, or you risk corrosion.
What is the difference between the Silver and the Black Edition?
Finish only. Silver leaves the frame, the side rails, the guardrail and the BEDTRAX rails in bright anodized aluminum. The Black Edition powder coats those same parts black to match a black bed or a black liner. The deck, the capacity, the extension, the bearings, the tie-downs and the warranty are identical, and so is the installation. Pick whichever one you would rather look at. The photographs in this listing are labelled by finish, and the Black Edition frames and the Silver frames are both shown so you can see the actual difference before you choose.

Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.
