Bolting a steel-framed BEDSLIDE straight into an aluminum truck bed is how you get galvanic corrosion, and BEDSLIDE says so plainly: improper installation can lead to corrosion. This kit is the correct way to do it. It brings 5" x 5" mount plates that spread the load across the thinner aluminum floor, nylon sleeves that isolate the fasteners from the bed, aluminum riv nuts rather than steel ones, and the riv nut tool to set them, plus all the bolts, nyloc nuts and washers. The kit works with any BEDSLIDE, and the beds that need it are the 2015 and newer Ford aluminum beds. Mount Plates Spread the Load The (2) 5" x 5" plates spread the mounting load across a wider area of the bed floor. An aluminum bed is thinner and softer than the steel it replaced, so concentrating a loaded slide onto a few small fasteners is not a good idea.

Position the mount plates against the slide frame and mark before drilling, then check underneath for fuel lines, wiring and the spare tire. Set the aluminum riv nuts with the supplied tool. The nylon sleeves are the part people skip and should not: they isolate the fastener from the aluminum floor and are the reason this kit exists. Do I need this kit?
Only if you are mounting a BEDSLIDE into an aluminum truck bed using riv nuts. BEDSLIDE lists the current applications as all Ford 2015 and newer aluminum beds. If your bed is steel, the standard BSA-RIVKT kit is the right part instead.
What happens if I skip it and use standard hardware?
You risk galvanic corrosion where steel fasteners meet the aluminum floor, which is exactly what BEDSLIDE warns about when it says improper installation can lead to corrosion. The aluminum riv nuts and the nylon isolating sleeves in this kit are what prevent that, and corrosion caused by an improper install is not a warranty matter.

Look is great. 100 lbs lighter than my 2nd pick. Lid lock and opening are smooth. Only minor knock I give is the the tie down hooks are hard to install - thinking I should have done them before installing.

I never knew how much I needed this
As with all BAK covers, the quality is amazing. What I didnt fully appreciate until installing was the ease of opening - especially in a lifted truck. No more need to find the right handhold. Just roll it back with a single hand. Its also great to see out of my rear window when fully open - something you lose with the fold back covers. Customer service is awesome. I has an installation question and the representative stayed on the line as I adjusted an alignment to ensure I did it properly.

Better then expected.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.
