Tested For The Unexpected

B&W's testing story, filmed at the factory where these hitches are built. One hitch is run through every dynamic and static test in sequence rather than using a fresh unit for each. That single-specimen approach exceeds what the SAE recommended practice asks for, and it is the standard behind the rating on this product.

How To Back A Trailer

B&W's plain-language lesson on backing a trailer: hand position, mirror use and the small corrections that keep a trailer tracking where you want it. If trailers are new to you, practice this in an empty lot before the first real trip.

Trailer Tires Matter

What B&W wants every hauler to know about trailer tires: load range, age, and pressure, and how each one changes how a trailer behaves behind your truck. Tire trouble is the most common roadside failure in towing, and most of it is preventable at the walk-around.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Will it fit my truck?

It fits 1999-2016 Ford F250 and F350 Super Duty. B&W cuts each cab protector for a specific truck rather than making one adjustable rack, so a year outside the list or a different bed is not a near miss, it is a different part number. If your truck is not listed here, B&W makes the cab protector in other part numbers.

Do the LED lights come wired?

The lights are integrated into the top rail and come with the rack. You will need to run and fuse the feed into the truck's wiring, which is a simple job but should be done properly: fused at the source, routed away from the exhaust and away from anything that moves. If you are not comfortable with vehicle wiring, this is the part of the installation worth paying somebody for.

Can one person install it?

Not comfortably. It weighs about 144 lb, and the awkward part is holding it in position while you start the fasteners. Two people and something to rest it on makes it a straightforward couple of hours.

Does it block my rear view?

Less than a solid rack does. The panel is horizontal slats rather than a sheet, so you still get a usable view through the rear glass, which matters if you back a trailer. It is not the same as an empty bed, but it is a long way from a blank wall.

Will it still work with a tonneau cover or a toolbox?

It depends entirely on the cover or box, because the rack occupies the front few inches of the bed and mounts to the rail structure there. B&W publishes no compatibility list for combinations, so the honest answer is to measure your bed and check what your cover or box needs at the bulkhead before ordering both.

Does it ship by freight?

Yes. At about 144 lb and roughly the width of the bed, this is an oversized freight item rather than a parcel. Plan to be there to receive it and inspect it before signing, because freight damage is easiest to resolve at the moment of delivery.
