- Machined wrap-around jaws: B&W machines the jaws to fit the king pin closely, leaving no room for slop between pin and jaw, so the trailer has less to bang against when you start and stop.
- Cam-action handle: A cam in the handle does the locking. With the handle shut, the cam holds the jaws locked on the king pin so they cannot let go by accident. Swing it open and the cam moves aside, freeing the jaws to let go of the pin when the truck drives forward.
- Shock absorber and bushings: A shock absorber lets the coupler shift side to side without banging, and polyurethane bushings under the coupler absorb rough pavement. A smooth ride was B&W's stated goal for the design.
- Two-piece design: Base and coupler head come apart. Pull the two saddle lock pins and the head lifts off the pivot arms by the handles on either side, which makes the base easier to remove or swap.
- Rated by B&W: B&W rates this Companion for 20,000 lb gross trailer weight and 5,000 lb pin weight. Know your truck's own towing rating too, and never tow past the lower of the two.
- Built and tested in Kansas: B&W builds the Companion in Humboldt, Kansas, and certifies its fifth wheel hitches to SAE J2638, the industry standard for fifth wheel and gooseneck hitches.

Part RVK3775 is the 20K Companion Slider Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2020-2026 GM Pucks; B&W lists it at 20,000 lb GTW with a 5,000 lb pin weight limit. Built for the GM factory installed puck system on the 2020-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 2020-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD, 2020-2026 GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 2020-2026 GMC Sierra 3500 HD, it drops onto the bed pucks and the latch handles lock it down. The kit is base RVB3775 plus coupler head RVC3006; the slider base lets the hitch slide back 12" for tight turns. B&W's sheet gives six pivot-arm positions for a coupler height of 17" to 19".

About B&W Trailer Hitches
Roger Baker and Joe Works founded B&W Trailer Hitches in 1987, working out of a garage where they built custom truck beds; the company name comes from their initials. Which trucks does RVK3775 fit?
B&W lists it for the GM 2020-2026 with the GM factory installed puck system: 2020-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD; 2020-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD; 2020-2026 GMC Sierra 2500 HD; 2020-2026 GMC Sierra 3500 HD. It is for factory puck systems only.
What is a puck system?
B&W describes it as a five-hole towing system that the truck maker installs on the frame, with the mounting points under the bed floor. This hitch drops into those points, so no rails are needed.
Do I need a lube plate?
No. B&W says the lube disc is up to you: it is cleaner, but a coat of automotive chassis grease on the hitch's top plate does the same job.
Why won't the jaws open when I pull the handle?
On uneven ground the king pin can bind slightly in the jaws, which B&W calls normal. With the handle open, the jaw tension is released even if the jaws do not visibly open, and they let go as you pull away.
Will it work with my short bed truck?
Many short bed owners tow with a Companion, B&W says. Cab clearance depends on where the king pin sits on the trailer, the trailer's width and corner shape, and how much tight turning you do. The slider models slide back 12" for that turning room.
Can I buy the base or coupler head on its own?
Yes. B&W uses the same coupler head (RVC3006) across the Companion line, so the base and the head are each sold separately, in fixed and slider versions.
Installation
Here's the short version. Follow B&W's install sheet (below) for the exact positions and hardware.
- Remove the latch pins from each side of the slider base, rotate the handles out and set the base over the puck attachment points.
- Hold the base down, close each latch handle and replace the latch pins.
- Choose one of the six arm locations (Table C1) on the slider carriage, check the threaded blocks inside the carriage (larger hole openings against the inside face) and check truck-to-trailer clearance.
- Set each pivot arm flat against the carriage bolt plate, install four 1/2" x 2" cap screws and lock washers per arm and torque each cap screw to 110 ft-lbs.
- Assemble the leveling kit and attach it to the cab-side flange of the driver-side pivot arm.
- Lubricate the pivot-arm bushings with lithium grease, place the coupler over the pivot arms, attach the coupler handle with the 3/8" button head cap screws and flanged lock nuts, and set the coupler angle.

Before you install, check the base and coupler bolt bags against the parts lists on B&W's sheet for your model, and work the handle to confirm the jaws lock closed and release before your first hookup. Check it as soon as it arrives.- Look for crushed ends, punctures or tears in the carton.
- If something looks wrong, take photos of the box and the parts (and if a driver asks you to sign, note the damage on the receipt).
