- Set Weight With a Pump Handle: Most weight distribution hitches are either loaded or unloaded. On the Continuum you pump a handle to move as much weight to the front axle as you want, and twist the needle valve knob to let it off again.
- One Bar Set, 600-1,600 lb: B&W teamed with Hendrickson for tapered composite spring bars built with Hendrickson's LITEFLEX technology. One set covers 600 to 1,600 lb of tongue weight, and B&W says composite flexes five times as much as steel at similar strength.
- Sway Prevention Already Working: The bars stay under load, so the friction that resists sway is there from the first foot of travel. B&W tested leading friction sway controls with the truck on air casters and found most take little force to overcome.
- Repeatable Setup on a Gauge: The head angle is preset and there is nothing to shim. A pressure gauge on the pump lets you return to the same setting every trip.
- All Setup on Driver's Side: Pump, gauge and needle valve are all on the trailer's driver side, so you set or release the load without walking around to the other side.

WDHK4500 is the complete B&W Continuum Weight Distribution Hitch for a 2" receiver and a trailer with a standard coupler, with standard shank and standard drop. It ships as head unit WDHH4500 with its 2-5/16" ball plus load bar unit WDHL4510, rated for trailers up to 16,000 lb with 600-1,600 lb of tongue weight.
Fitment & Compatibility
Check your fit: a 2" receiver, a trailer with an A-frame and a standard coupler, a trailer up to 16,000 lb and tongue weight between 600 and 1,600 lb.
Not for: a 2.5" receiver (use WDHK4502); a underslung coupler (use WDHK4501); trailers without an A-frame coupler.

What comes in WDHK4500?

Which coupler is WDHK4500 for?
A standard coupler. Underslung couplers take the version with the cylinder extension, WDHK4501.
How long does installation take?
In most cases 30 minutes or less, B&W says, and the one wrench you need is 9/16". The bar assembly comes put together and there is no head angle to set.
What if my load changes?
Add a few pumps on the handle to shift more weight to the front axle. B&W's design means no bar swap and no head adjustment for a change in tongue weight.
Will it fit my trailer frame?
B&W's manual calls for an A-frame coupler with rails about 2" wide and 5" to 6" tall; 4" to 7" rails work with alternate bolts available from B&W. The rails must sit 6" to 9" apart where it mounts, with 2" of open space behind the coupler.
Will the hydraulics leak?
B&W built the system as a closed loop, the type used on tractors and construction equipment. B&W's manual says the system relieves pressure automatically when it exceeds 3,000 psi, to protect the hitch, truck and trailer during overload events.
Installation
Here's the short version. Follow B&W's install sheet (below) for the exact positions and hardware.
- Park on level ground and level the trailer (equal frame-to-ground distance front and rear), then unpack the hitch components.
- Set the head-unit height: measure ground to the top of the coupler and to the ball with the head unit in the receiver, then re-pin the head unit so the ball height is correct; secure the pins with lynch pins.
- Prepare the trailer A-frame and bolt the pump mount bracket and inside clamp to the driver-side frame with the 3/8" x 3" bolts and flange nuts; torque the 3/8" nuts to 40 ft-lbs.
- Position the hydraulic cylinder and mount the pump to its bracket (the WDHL4510 load bar unit has no cylinder extension, so B&W skips that step).
- Secure the top cylinder mount with the washer plates and 3/8" x 8" cap screws, grease the head unit and fit the vent hose; never use tools on the needle valve.
- Attach the load bars to the cylinder, fit the fork holder bracket around the jack leg (3/8" nuts 30 ft-lbs), connect wiring, breakaway cable and chains, then set load by the wheel-well measurements.

Before installing, confirm your trailer has an A-frame coupler with room on the driver-side rail for the pump, and that the head unit, load bar box and bolt bag match the parts lists in B&W's manual. Check it as soon as it arrives.- Look for crushed ends, punctures or tears in the carton.
- If something looks wrong, take photos of the box and the parts (and if a driver asks you to sign, note the damage on the receipt).
