This is the 12,000 lb Class IV version of B&W's heavy duty receiver hitch, cut and drilled for the 1997-2003 Ford F-150. It is the odd one out in the line: every other heavy duty receiver B&W builds is a 16,000 lb GTW Class V, and this one is sized to what a tenth-generation F-150 frame can actually carry. It bolts to six points on the frame, needs no welding, and fits only trucks that still wear the factory rear bumper.
What's Included:
- Two frame-mount side plates
- Center section with the 2" receiver tube and steel gussets
- Grade 8 mounting hardware
- Electrical bracket for a 7-way trailer connector
- B&W installation instructions
Features
Three-Piece Interlocking Design
The hitch comes apart into two side plates and a center section that carries the receiver tube. You bolt the plates to the frame first, with the weight off your arms, then lift the center section up and interlock it. It is the difference between a one-person job and a two-person job, and it is why a hitch this heavy ships in a single box.
Six-Point Frame Mount with Grade 8 Hardware
Six bolted attachment points spread the load into the frame rather than concentrating it, and B&W supplies Grade 8 fasteners to make them. Nothing is welded and nothing needs to be, so the install is reversible and the truck's frame coating stays intact.
Class IV 2" Receiver Tube on Steel Gussets
The 2" receiver tube is reinforced with steel gussets rather than hung off the crossbar, which is where a working hitch takes its punishment. Rated at 12,000 lb gross trailer weight and 1,200 lb tongue weight in the weight-carrying position.
Safety Chain Loops Built into the Gusset
The chain loops are part of the gusset, not tabs welded to the crossbar afterwards. That matters on the day a coupler lets go, because the loops are carried by the same steel that carries the tube.
Electrical Bracket for a 7-Way Connector
A bracket for the 7-way trailer connector is in the box, so the plug ends up mounted square and in the right place instead of cable-tied to the bumper.
High-Gloss Black Powder Coat
The finish is a high-gloss black powder coat, which is the same coating B&W runs on its gooseneck and fifth wheel hardware. It resists chips and road salt better than paint and it stays looking like part of the truck rather than an add-on.
Everything in One Box, Made in Kansas
Side plates, center section, receiver tube, electrical bracket and all the hardware ship together in a single carton. Made in the USA, built by B&W in Humboldt, Kansas.

Fit guidance: This hitch is cut for one application: Ford F150. The qualifiers in the Bed / Body column are B&W's own and they matter. Bed length changes where the frame brackets land, and a truck wearing a 10" step bumper does not take the same part as the same truck with the factory bumper, so check both against your truck before ordering rather than going by model year alone. Fitting a hitch does not change what your truck is rated to tow: work to the lower of the hitch rating and the tow rating on your door jamb. Ball mount, hitch pin and clip are sold separately.

Installation

Work from B&W's HDRH24400 installation sheet, which is in the Resources tab: it carries the torque figures and the bracket positions for this truck. The three-piece design is what makes this manageable alone - bolt each side plate to the frame first, then lift only the center section into place and interlock it. Support the hitch while you start the fasteners, torque everything to B&W's figures, and re-check the torque after the first few hundred miles of towing.

About B&W Trailer Hitches
B&W Trailer Hitches started in a Humboldt, Kansas garage in 1987, when Roger Baker and Joe Works were building custom truck beds and wanted a gooseneck hitch that did not leave a ball standing up in the bed the other six days of the week. Their answer was the Turnoverball, a ball that flips over and stows flush with the bed floor, and it is still the product the company is best known for. B&W has built hitches in Humboldt ever since and is one of the last hitch makers still manufacturing in the United States.
The company has been 100% employee-owned since 2007, with roughly 500 employee-owners who have a stake in what they build. That shows up in how B&W tests. SAE J-2638 is only a recommended practice for gooseneck and fifth wheel hitches, and where the standard would allow a separate sample for each test, B&W puts a single hitch through all three 300,000-cycle dynamic tests and the six static tests, one after another. The Tow & Stow receiver line is tested to SAE J-684.
Prestige Truck is an authorized B&W Trailer Hitches dealer. Every hitch we ship is new, factory-packed, covered by the full B&W factory warranty, and supported by B&W's own service team in Humboldt, Kansas.
