- 13 GPM Flow: Fill-Rite rates the Sotera 400B pump at up to 13 GPM. It is a positive displacement design that moves a set volume at a fixed speed, and Fill-Rite says its double diaphragms hold output pressure steady whatever the load.
- Double-Diaphragm Pump: Two Santoprene diaphragms and EPDM seals work in turn inside a polypropylene body with stainless steel fasteners. The pump primes itself, Fill-Rite says it can run dry without internal damage, and the motor is thermally protected.
- 9' Suction Lift: Fill-Rite rates suction lift at 9' (water at sea level, 70°F) and discharge head at 38', with a 15 PSI maximum operating pressure. Thicker fluids, heat and altitude lower the real-world lift.
- 12V DC Power: A 1/4 HP 12V DC motor draws up to 20 A on a 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off duty cycle. Fill-Rite calls for a 30 A fuse on the positive battery cable and wiring by a licensed electrician.
- 1" NPT Ports: Inlet and outlet are 1" NPT. Fill-Rite asks for 1" suction and discharge lines (larger is fine if they step down to 1" at the pump), reinforced suction hose, and a 10 mesh screen when the fluid may carry debris.
- Chemtraveller Frame: Fill-Rite describes the Chemtraveller as a compact, low-profile frame that lets you move the pump around without handling the pump itself. Set it beside the drum or tote, drop the suction line in and dispense through the hose and ball-valve nozzle.
Description & Fitment
The SS435BX713 is the 12V Chemtraveller set up for drawing from the top or the bottom of a container: a 28" to 46" polypropylene suction pipe with bellows for top entry and a 1" x 9' EPDM suction hose for bottom outlets. There is no meter; the outlet is a 1" x 12' EPDM hose to a polypropylene ball valve with tip, and Fill-Rite packs a 20' alligator-clip cable and a full set of 1" and 2" adapters, nipples, barbs and clamps.
Fitment & Compatibility
Check your setup: totes or tanks fed either from the top or from a bottom valve, and a 12V battery with a 30 A fuse. For a metered Chemtraveller, see the SS435B (825) or SS435BX675 (850); the 115V version of this kit is the SS465BX713.
Not for: petroleum oils and lubricants (Fill-Rite's Hytrel-diaphragm FR410B is the oil version), strong acids (pH 3.4 or lower), strong bases (above pH 12), bleach (sodium hypochlorite), undiluted flammables that flash below 100°F (38°C), fluids meant for drinking, and fueling aircraft, road or off-road vehicles or boats.

Can the SS435BX713 draw from a tote's bottom valve?
Yes. Alongside the top-entry suction pipe with bellows, Fill-Rite includes a 1" x 9' EPDM suction hose and 2" and 1" adapters, a 2" female coupler and a 2" x 1" bushing for the connection.
Does the SS435BX713 meter what it pumps?
No, this kit has no meter. Fill-Rite's metered 12V Chemtravellers are the SS435B, SS435BX700 and SS435BX675.
Which chemicals can the Santoprene pump handle?
Fill-Rite builds its SS models with Santoprene diaphragms and EPDM seals for water-based fluids and certain mild acids, naming agricultural pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, soaps and water. Check your exact chemical in Sotera's chemical resistance guide; strong acids and bases, bleach and low-flash-point flammables are ruled out.
Will it be damaged if it runs dry?
Fill-Rite says the 400B can run dry without internal damage, and its motor has thermal protection. Keep to the 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off duty cycle all the same.
Can I fuel vehicles or equipment with it?
No. Fill-Rite's 400B manual says the series is not meant for fueling aircraft, road or off-road vehicles or boats, or for fluids meant for drinking. It is built for moving chemicals between containers.
Which Chemtraveller kits include a meter?
Per Fill-Rite's 400B accessory table, the SS435B and SS435BX700 carry Sotera's 825 digital meter and the SS435BX675 the 850 meter. The SS435BX713 and SS435BEXPX703 have no meter.
Installation
Here's the short version. Follow Fill-Rite's manual (below) for the full procedure, wiring and safety steps.
- Anchor the drum or tank so it cannot tip, and make sure the container is vented so it cannot collapse.
- Use 1" suction pipe or reinforced suction hose (larger is fine if it steps down to 1" at the pump) ending about 2" above the tank floor; add a 10 mesh screen if the fluid can carry debris.
- Seal threaded joints with a sealant that suits the fluid and tighten plastic fittings only until snug, since over-tightening can damage the pump.
- Support the piping so the pump does not carry it, keep suction and discharge connections flexible, and use 1" or larger discharge hose.
- With the pump switch OFF, connect ground (green) first, then negative (black), then positive (red), with a 30 A fuse on the positive cable; never put the ground wire on the negative post.
- Ground the pump and motor before first use, by bonding to the vehicle frame or to a ground circuit on a stationary setup.

Fill-Rite covers Sotera 400 Series pumps for 5 years: every pump component is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for that period.- The 825 or 850 meter supplied with metered kits carries Fill-Rite's 2-year meter term.
- Accessories packed with the pump, such as hoses, nozzles, suction pipes, cables, fittings and elbows, carry Fill-Rite's 1-year accessory term.
- Coverage runs from the date of sale, or the delivery date if that is later, and only the original purchaser is covered; it does not transfer to a later owner.
- It applies to products bought from Fill-Rite or a seller Fill-Rite authorizes in the United States or Canada, and Fill-Rite needs proof of purchase with a claim. Without proof of purchase or delivery, Fill-Rite starts the clock at the date code on the product.
- Small items such as fasteners, washers, labels, nameplates, rivets, emblems, packaging, thread tape, wire nuts and paperwork are not covered.
- It does not cover misuse, neglect, accident, negligence, improper installation or maintenance, or repairs done by anyone other than Fill-Rite or its authorized representative.
