Features

  • 4-Digit Mechanical Register: A 4-digit register counts each batch and resets by knob, while a separate totalizer keeps the lifetime count. It is all mechanical, so there are no batteries to change on a lube truck or in a shop.
  • Made for Gear and Motor Oil: Fill-Rite lists these meters for gear oils and motor oils, and its manual places the TN740 and TN760 in hydraulic and lube oil service. Each one is calibrated at the factory for a set viscosity range.
  • High-Pressure Housing: An anodized aluminum case around a resin metering chamber takes up to 1,000 PSI on the TN740 and 400 PSI on the TN760, which suits pressurized oil lines and lube truck reels.
  • Plus or Minus 2% Accuracy: Fill-Rite lists ±2% accuracy with 0.25% repeatability. The calibration screw covers about ±3% to make up for wear, and Fill-Rite suggests rechecking the meter once it is installed.
  • Female NPT In-Line Ports: The meter sits in the line on female NPT ports, 1" on the TN740 and 1-1/2" on the TN760. Flow can run left to right, right to left or upward, and the register can face up or out.
  • Wide Temperature Range: Fill-Rite rates the TN700 meters from -15 to 180°F (-26 to 82°C). Above 120°F the pressure rating comes down, so check with us before running hot oil near the limit.

Description & Fitment

The TN740AN1CAA1LAI is the liter-reading TN740, Fill-Rite's 1,000 PSI meter for gear and motor oil on 1" female NPT ports. Its spec table lists 2 to 38 LPM; the TN manual gives 4 to 40 LPM for oils of 125 to 5,000 cSt and 1.5 to 15 LPM for heavier ones. The register counts in liters, with a reset knob and lifetime totalizer.

Fitment & Compatibility

Check your setup: a 1" NPT oil line rated up to 1,000 PSI. Gallon version: TN740AN1CAA1TAI. Larger 1-1/2" ports at 400 PSI: TN760AN1CAB1LAF (liters).

Not for: systems that need 3A sanitary equipment, which Fill-Rite's TN manual rules out, and any fluid outside its factory viscosity range; switching fluids can call for new gears and recalibration. Never reset the register while fluid is flowing.

About Fill-Rite

FILL-RITE.

Its transfer pumps are built around cast-iron rotary vane bodies, and Fill-Rite stands behind them with a tiered warranty that runs for the life of the pump castings, 5 years on the motor and 2 years on wear parts.

Buying Fill-Rite from Prestige Truck. Fill-Rite asks for proof of purchase with any warranty claim, so keep your Prestige Truck order receipt with your records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this TN740 count in liters or gallons?

Liters. The TN740AN1CAA1TAI is the same meter with a gallon register.

What flow range should I expect?

It depends on the oil. Fill-Rite's manual rates the TN740 at 4 to 40 LPM for 125 to 5,000 cSt oils and 1.5 to 15 LPM for 5 to 50,000 cSt; its spec table lists 2 to 38 LPM.

Can I use a TN740 or TN760 on diesel?

They are calibrated for oils. Fill-Rite lists gear and motor oils, and its manual says a different viscosity needs different gears and recalibration. For diesel, the TN860 is the matching TN meter.

Should I add a strainer?

Yes. Fill-Rite's manual calls for a strainer on the inlet side to catch weld slag and pipe scale, plus a thermal relief valve on any section where closed valves on both sides could lock the meter in.

How often should it be recalibrated?

Fill-Rite gives no fixed interval; once a year is common, anywhere from 6 to 36 months can be right depending on flow, volume and the oil. Keep a record of each check.

Can I reset it while oil is flowing?

No. Fill-Rite warns that resetting during flow strips gears in the register and disables the meter. Stop the flow first, then reset.

Installation

Install time Not printed in Fill-Rite's manual
DifficultyNot printed in Fill-Rite's manual
TypeIn-line meter on a mounting support, full of liquid, flow left to right, right to left or upward (Fill-Rite TN700/TN800 manual)
ToolsNot printed in Fill-Rite's manualit calls for pipe compound on male threads and no PTFE tape

Here's the short version. Follow Fill-Rite's manual (below) for the full procedure, wiring and safety steps.

  1. Flush the piping first, keep the port caps on until you are ready, and check that no packing material is inside the meter.
  2. Fit a strainer on the inlet side, plus a thermal relief valve on any section where closed valves on both sides could lock the meter in; Fill-Rite also suggests inlet, outlet and bypass/calibration valves.
  3. Orient the meter so it stays full: flow left to right, right to left or upward, never against the arrow on the case; the register can face up or out.
  4. Put pipe compound on the male threads (no PTFE tape), and secure the meter to a mounting support so the piping carries no stress.
  5. Fill slowly: throttle the inlet valve, open the outlet, start the pump and open the inlet gradually; do not run at full rate until the air is purged.
  6. Recheck calibration after installing: three tests against a prover, master meter or scale holding at least 60 seconds of flow, then trim with the calibration screw (about ±3%).
