Features

  • Opens With One Cable Pull: One release cable runs across the tailgate end, and a pull from either side lets the latches go so you can fold the cover forward.
  • Drop-and-Go Latches: Lower the cover and the automatic dual slam latches lock it on their own, with no clamps to work by hand. Gator doubles up the latch points along the length of the cover, and with your tailgate locked the bed is shut tight.
  • Rigid Aluminum Panels: Each panel is built from multi-layer, aircraft-grade aluminum with a semi-gloss black coating that resists fading. Gator rates the closed cover for up to 300 lb spread evenly.
  • Folds for 2/3 Bed Access: Fold the panels toward the cab to open two-thirds of the bed and lock the stack in place with the retaining straps. When you need the whole bed, Gator says its quick-release design lets the cover come off in minutes without tools.
  • Keeps Water Out: Flush side seals block the edges, and drain rails carry water that gets past them out through drain tubes. Like any tonneau cover, it is weather-resistant rather than waterproof.
  • Stake Pockets Stay Open: The rails leave the stake pockets clear, so tie-downs, bed rails and other accessories still have a place to mount.

Description & Fitment

The Gator EFX is a hard tri-fold tonneau cover for the 5'7" bed on the 2015-2020 Ford F-150 and 2017-2020 F-150 Raptor. It suits owners who want a rigid aluminum cover that clamps on with no drilling. It opens with one cable pull from either side of the tailgate, folds forward for two-thirds bed access and drops shut onto latches that lock on their own. Flush seals and drain rails keep water out, the stake pockets stay open, and Gator backs it with a 2-year limited warranty.

Check your fit: this is the 5'7" box on a 2015-2020 F-150 or 2017-2020 Raptor. Gator's list for this part ends at 2020.

Not for: the 6'7" box (EF324020), the 2021 and newer F-150 5'7" box (EF324029) or the 2004-2014 F-150 (EF324002).

About Gator

GATOR.

Gator makes truck bed covers in soft roll-up, soft tri-fold, hard folding and retractable styles, along with bed mats and floor liners. The brand started from one plain idea: a pickup bed should get protection that keeps working, season after season.

Gator builds its covers around everyday toughness and weather resistance, and it designs them for a home install. Every cover comes with Gator's install guide.

Buying Gator from Prestige Truck. Gator sells its covers only through authorized retailers, and Prestige Truck is an authorized Gator dealer. Every Gator cover we sell is new, genuine Gator product. Gator's warranty covers the original buyer and may ask for proof of purchase, so keep your Prestige Truck order receipt with your records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this fit my 2018 F-150 Raptor?

Yes. The 2017-2020 F-150 Raptor 5'7" box is listed.

Will it fit a 2022 F-150?

No. The 2021 and newer F-150 5'7" box takes EF324029.

How much weight can the EFX hold?

Gator rates it for up to 300 lb on the closed cover when the load is spread evenly. That rating is not for a concentrated load such as standing on one spot.

Is the EFX waterproof?

No tonneau cover is fully waterproof. Flush side seals keep most water out, and drain rails with drain tubes carry off what gets past them, so keep anything that must stay dry in a sealed bin.

Can I drive with the cover folded open?

Yes. Fold it to the two-thirds position and lock it with the retaining straps first. Gator's warranty requires the cover to be secured at every point while the truck is moving.

Do I need to take it off to tow my truck?

Only if the truck is towed from the rear. Gator requires the cover to be removed and stored first, or the warranty is void.

Installation

DifficultyHome install with Gator's install sheet
What's involvedSide rails clamp flush in the bed and drain tubes attach, some trucks need a 5/8" drain hole
Tools
  • Scissors or utility knife
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • 1/2" wrench or socket
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 5/8" drill bit & drill

Here's the short version. Follow Gator's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact steps.

  1. If a bulkhead seal is included, clean the bulkhead top, stick the seal edge to edge and trim the excess. No seal with a drop-in bedliner.
  2. If rubber filler strips are included, stick them between the plastic bed cap and the metal rail.
  3. Set both side rails flush with the top of the bed rail, drain-tube end toward the cab, square to the bed rail and pushed to the bulkhead.
  4. Fit three clamps per rail (front 6-8" from the bulkhead, rear near the tailgate, middle centered), level the rails with the bed cap and tighten to 10 ft-lb.
  5. Attach the drain tubes; route them behind a bedliner, through the bed plugs, or through a 5/8" hole in the bulkhead.
  6. Slide four cover retainer clamps into the track under the cover near the cab, on both sides.

Warranty, shipping & returns

  • Warranty

Gator backs the EFX with a 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
    • If the cover or a hardware part is defective, Gator repairs or replaces it at its choice, and may substitute a newer model of similar form and function.
    • Coverage is for the first owner and can't be transferred. Gator asks for a registration on file or proof of original purchase (a dated, itemized receipt), so keep your order receipt.
    • To keep it valid: wash with mild car soap and water only; keep the cover secured at every point while the truck is moving; check all clamps after the first week of driving (and after any reinstall) and now and then after that; clear snow and ice before opening; and take the cover off before the truck is towed from the rear.
    • Claims need a return authorization number before anything is sent back. Gator may ask for the part, postage prepaid, to inspect it, and shipping for a repair or replacement is at the owner's cost; Gator charges nothing else for a covered repair or replacement.
    • Not covered: accident damage, neglect, unforeseeable use, improper installation or servicing, or anything not caused by a defect in material or workmanship. Your state may give you other rights as well.
    • For a claim or help registering your warranty, contact us with your order number and photos of the problem, and we'll walk you through Gator's process.
