Features

  • Full Bed Access: Pull the two latches just inside the tailgate, then swing the cover forward to the cab. Buckle straps hold it two-thirds open, or the built-in prop rods stand it up against the cab to open the whole bed, and Gator says you can drive in either position.
  • Rails Clamp On: The rails clamp to the bed walls, and Gator calls it a no-drill install on most vehicles. The drain tubes are the exception on some trucks: Gator's 2007-22 Tundra sheet has you drill a 5/8" hole for each tube, while other trucks can route them behind a liner, through the bed plugs or through an optional hole.
  • Slam Latches Lock It Down: Gator's own rail-and-clamp system works with automatic slam latches that lock each panel as it closes, keeping cargo hidden and secured.
  • Weather-Resistant Seals: EPDM rubber side seals and rounded rubber hinges close the gaps between the panels and the rails, and drain tubes carry off any water that gets past them. It is weather-resistant, not waterproof.
  • Built to a Higher Standard: The cover sits low and close to the bed rails, in corrosion-resistant aluminum with a black powder coat that Gator calls scratch and UV resistant. Gator says the finish meets an ISO quality benchmark, and that the FX is proudly assembled in Missouri.
  • Strong, Light Panels: Solid-core panels skinned in aircraft-grade aluminum sit on a rigid alloy frame, which keeps the weight down. Gator still rates the closed cover for up to 300 lb spread evenly.

Description & Fitment

The Gator FX is a hard folding tonneau cover for the 6'7" bed on the 2021-2026 Ford F-150. It suits owners who want a low-profile hard cover with strong, light panels that clamps on with no drilling. The panels fold toward the cab to strap two-thirds open or prop fully open for full bed access, and the slam latches lock automatically when it closes. Weather-resistant seals help keep the bed dry, and Gator backs it with a 2-year limited warranty.

About Gator

GATOR.

Gator makes truck bed covers in soft roll-up, soft tri-fold, hard folding and retractable styles, along with bed mats and floor liners. The brand started from one plain idea: a pickup bed should get protection that keeps working, season after season.

Gator builds its covers around everyday toughness and weather resistance, and it designs them for a home install. Every cover comes with Gator's install guide.

Buying Gator from Prestige Truck. Gator sells its covers only through authorized retailers, and Prestige Truck is an authorized Gator dealer. Every Gator cover we sell is new, genuine Gator product. Gator's warranty covers the original buyer and may ask for proof of purchase, so keep your Prestige Truck order receipt with your records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it fit a 2020 F-150 6'7" box?

No. The 2015-2020 F-150 takes F3327; this part starts at 2021.

Does this fit a Super Duty?

No. This part is for the F-150. The 2017-2026 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty 6'9" box takes FX F3330.

Can I drive with the FX open?

Yes. Use the buckle straps to hold it two-thirds open, or stand it against the cab on the built-in prop rods to drive with the whole bed exposed. Gator's warranty requires the cover to be secured at every point while you drive.

How much weight can it hold?

Gator rates the FX for up to 300 lb on the closed cover when the load is spread evenly. That rating is not for a concentrated load such as standing on one spot.

Is the FX waterproof?

It is weather-resistant, not waterproof. EPDM side seals, rounded rubber hinges and drain tubes keep most water out, so keep anything that must stay completely dry in a sealed bin.

What keeps the warranty valid?

Wash it with mild car soap and water only, clear snow and ice before opening, re-check the clamps a week after installing and now and then after that, and take the cover off before the truck is towed from the rear.

Installation

DifficultyHome install with Gator's install sheet
What's involvedSide rails clamp flush in the bed and drain tubes attach, no drilling on most trucks
Tools
  • Scissors or utility knife
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • 1/2" wrench or socket
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 5/8" drill bit & drill

Here's the short version. Follow Gator's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact steps.

  1. If a bulkhead seal is included, clean the bulkhead top (soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol), stick the seal edge to edge and trim the excess. No seal is needed with a drop-in bedliner.
  2. If rubber filler strips are included, stick them between the plastic bed cap and the metal rail: front, middle and rear.
  3. Set each side rail flush with the top of the bed rail, drain-tube end toward the cab, square (90 degrees) to the bed rail and pushed fully toward the bulkhead.
  4. Fit 3 or 4 clamps per rail (front clamp 6-8" from the bulkhead, rear clamp near the tailgate, evenly spaced) and snug them with a 1/2" wrench.
  5. Level the rails with the bed cap, then tighten all clamps to 10 ft-lb. Do not overtighten.
  6. Attach the drain tubes to the front of the side rails; route the other end behind a bedliner, through the bed plugs, or through a 5/8" hole in the bulkhead.

Warranty, shipping & returns

  • Warranty

Gator backs the FX with a 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
    • If the cover or a hardware part is defective, Gator repairs or replaces it at its choice, and may substitute a newer model of similar form and function or offer a discount on a full replacement.
    • Coverage is for the first owner and can't be transferred. Gator asks for a registration on file or proof of original purchase (a dated, itemized receipt), so keep your order receipt.
    • To keep it valid: wash with mild car soap and water only; keep the cover secured at every point while the truck is moving; check all clamps after the first week of driving (and after any reinstall) and now and then after that; clear snow and ice before opening; and take the cover off before the truck is towed from the rear.
    • Claims need a return authorization number before anything is sent back. Gator may ask for the part, postage prepaid, to inspect it, and shipping for a repair or replacement is at the owner's cost; Gator charges nothing else for a covered repair or replacement.
    • Not covered: accident damage, neglect, unforeseeable use, improper installation or servicing, or anything not caused by a defect in material or workmanship. Your state may give you other rights as well.
    • For a claim or help registering your warranty, contact us with your order number and photos of the problem, and we'll walk you through Gator's process.
