ICON 2.5 EXP front coilover with ICON-labelled three-stud upper mount, spring perch and eyelet base, laid diagonally on white.

Lift and travel, factory springs

EXP coilovers give a truck or SUV a tuned 2.5" performance shock, a lift and more wheel travel while keeping its factory coil springs. That makes them a step up from a spacer lift without the cost of a full coilover with new springs. The valving is matched to each vehicle for a composed ride on the road and off it.

Aluminum body and heavy shaft

Each EXP is built on ICON's 2.5 Aluminum Series shock, with a hard-anodized aluminum body, an internal reservoir and a 7/8" induction-hardened, chrome-plated shaft mounted shaft up. Snap-ring grooves on the body set the ride height. The shock can be rebuilt or re-valved later by a qualified technician.

Order the right quantity

ICON sells EXP coilovers one at a time on most applications and notes that two are needed per vehicle, so check the listing quantity. Some vehicles also need a sway bar bracket, upper control arms for taller settings or new rear shocks at the same time, as listed under Also required. Late-model vehicles need an ADAS recalibration after the install.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Do I reuse my factory coil springs?

Yes. EXP is designed around the vehicle's OE coil spring, which transfers onto the EXP shock. ICON tunes the valving to work with that stock spring.

Are EXP coilovers sold in pairs?

ICON sells EXP coilovers individually on most applications and notes that two are needed per vehicle, one for each side. Check the quantity on the listing and order two if it is priced per shock.

How is EXP different from a full coilover?

EXP bridges the gap between a spacer lift and a threaded-body coilover. It gives a tuned 2.5" shock, lift and more travel while keeping the factory spring, instead of a new spring and threaded body.

Which Bronco EXP fits my Bronco?

It depends on Ford's shock package. HOSS 1.0, with black OE shock bodies, is the base system without the Sasquatch package; HOSS 2.0, with yellow OE shock bodies, comes with Sasquatch and is fitted to the Badlands, Wildtrak, First Edition and Everglades. ICON notes the Bronco EXP does not fit the Bronco Raptor.

Will I need other parts or a recalibration?

Some vehicles do. Depending on the application ICON calls for items such as a sway bar drop or relocation bracket, upper control arms for taller lift settings, or new rear shocks installed at the same time, and late-model vehicles need an ADAS recalibration. The listing's Also required notes name them.

What warranty comes with EXP coilovers?

EXP coilovers carry ICON's 1-year shock absorber warranty against manufacturer's defects. A shock that fails in its first year goes back to ICON for inspection and service, and racing use is excluded.
