Steps on, steps off

The RKR steps bolt to mounts on the rails, so they stay on for the school run and come off in the driveway before a trail day. With them removed, you are left with bare 1.75" steel rock rails and nothing hanging low to catch on a ledge.

Steel treated inside and out

The rails are 1.75" steel tube with a .120" wall, welded into one piece and treated on the inside as well as the outside before the textured black powder coat goes on. N-Fab warrants that finish for five years.

Rails that guard the rockers

One-piece welded steel rails run along the rocker panels, so a rock or stump meets the tube instead of the sheet metal. It is the protection of a slider with the convenience of a step, in one bolt-on kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Can I take the steps off when I go off-road?

Yes. The steps bolt to mounts on the rails, so you can unbolt them before a trail run and leave just the rock rails, then refit them for daily driving.

Will the rails protect my rocker panels on rocks?

That is their job. N-Fab builds them from 1.75" steel tube with a .120" wall so the vehicle can slide over rocks and obstacles on the rails instead of the rockers. N-Fab does not publish a load rating, so we do not quote one.

Do I have to drill into my vehicle to install these?

Most applications bolt to factory mounting points with the included hardware. Where a vehicle needs a hole drilled, the Installation tab of that listing says so, so check it for your part number.

Will the finish hold up to road salt?

The steel is treated inside and out and finished in textured black powder coat, which N-Fab warrants for five years. Rails that see trail use will pick up scrapes, so touch up bare spots and rinse off salt through the winter.

How many steps come in the kit?

One for each door: a pair on a two-door vehicle and two pairs on a four-door or crew cab. The steps are included with the rails in every RKR Step System kit.

What tools do I need to install it?

Common hand tools: a socket set and ratchet, plus a torque wrench to bring the bolts to the values on N-Fab's sheet. A helper or a pair of jack stands makes holding the rails in position much easier.
