How big a spare can I carry?
It depends on the setup. TeraFlex rates the Alpha HD hinged carrier with its adjustable mount for very large spares, while a mount on the factory tailgate has a lower weight limit. Check the tire size and weight notes on each listing.
Do I need the hinged carrier to use the adjustable mount?
No. The adjustable spare tire mount can go on the factory tailgate, but TeraFlex designs it to be paired with the Alpha HD hinged carrier for the largest tires.
Will my rearview camera and third brake light still work?
Yes. Parts that move the spare include mounts for the camera and third brake light, and the delete and license plate kits include the wiring needed for the license plate light.
Is drilling required?
Most parts use factory mounting points with no drilling. The Safari tailgate table requires drilling on some vehicles, as the instructions explain.
Will these fit an 8-lug spare?
Some will. The adjustable mount is offered for 8x6.5" wheels or can be converted with the 8-lug adapter, but the license plate relocation kit does not work with an 8-lug spare.
What warranty applies?
TeraFlex covers the Alpha tire carrier and its components for life for the original purchaser on the original vehicle. Finishes are covered for 90 days against defects.
