Fits the same truck
Dead space, turned into a toolbox
Bolted to the inner bed side panel, the case fills the hollow above the wheel arch and takes nothing else from the box. Floor length is untouched, nothing stands proud of the rail line, and the tailgate still drops onto a clear bed. Key the latch and a loaded case can sit in an open truck; lift it off its two hinge pins and the bed is bare again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
How much fits inside, and how much weight can it take?
Each case holds 1.5ft³ and carries up to 75 lb. In practice that is a socket set plus a cordless drill and spare batteries, or a recovery strap and a tow rope, or two tackle trays with rods laid over the tailgate. Packing it low and flat rather than standing something heavy up in one corner is sensible, though the manufacturer attaches no distribution condition to the figure. If you need more room than that, the two sides are separate part numbers and plenty of owners run both.
Does fitting it mean drilling holes in my bed?
It depends entirely on which truck you have, and this is the question we get wrong most often when people assume the answer is the same for everyone. Four applications in the range bolt up with no drilling at all, using holes and threaded inserts the bed already has. Most of the older applications drive self-drilling screws straight into the bed side panel, so the screws make their own holes and no separate drill bit is needed. A small number genuinely do require drilling, and one requires eight holes and bonded bolt plates. The installation sheet on this page is the one for this exact part number, and it tells you which of those applies before you order.
Will it work if my bed already has a liner?
A spray-in liner is no problem at all. A drop-in plastic liner or a carpeted bed rug will need trimming, because the mounting brackets have to fasten directly to the bed's sheet metal and will not sit properly on top of a liner. With a bed rug the brackets usually pass underneath and you cut slots so the latch and the lock come through. The manufacturer does not publish exact trim dimensions, and says so plainly, because every liner brand fits differently. Plan on 15 minutes with a marker and a knife before you start.
What will it not work with?
Two answers, one family-wide and one per part. Family-wide: the SwingCase will not work with a bed extender. That statement is on every installation sheet the manufacturer publishes. Per part: some applications carry a specific exclusion, such as a factory tow package, a RamBox, a Titan Box, a factory storage box, a particular tailgate or a named tonneau cover. Any exclusion that applies to this part is listed in the fitment block on this page. The manufacturer's general line is that the case works with most tonneau covers, and where it has ruled a specific cover out, we say so rather than leaving you to find out.
Do I need the driver side or the passenger side?
They are two different part numbers and the cases are mirror images, so pick by which side of the bed you want to reach from, or fit both. What matters more is that they do not always share the same fitment. An obstruction that sits on one side of a bed, such as a tailgate step handle or a factory power plug, can rule out that side's case while the other side fits normally. Check the fitment block on each part's page rather than assuming what is true of one hand is true of the other.
Does it lock, and will what is inside stay dry?
It locks with a key through a rotary latch set into the lid, and the lid closes onto a weathertight seal, so contents are protected from spray and from the weather an open bed sees. Some applications also ship a pivot lock, which lets the case still swing out but stops it being lifted off its hinge pins. Two honest limits: it is a deterrent, not a safe, and the manufacturer publishes no waterproof or submersible rating for it and neither do we. If you are storing something that must not get damp in a downpour, put it in a dry bag inside the case.
