It is a full-size extra-wide crossover, or saddle, box that mounts across the top bed rails behind the cab, so it fits full-size pickups such as the F-150, Silverado and Sierra 1500 through 3500, Ram 1500 through 3500, Tundra and Titan. It needs about 72" of rail-to-rail width. Measure your bed rails and check clearance behind the cab first, and note it is not designed for compact or mid-size trucks.
No. The box ships with under-rail clamps and hardware, so it mounts without drilling into your truck. Most installs take about 20 to 30 minutes and go easiest with two people to lift and hold the box while you clamp it down.
This earlier-generation saddle box uses a One Key push-button high-security lock. Press the button to release the lid, and the keyed cylinder lets you code several boxes on one truck, or an entire fleet, to a single key. It is PowerSync capable as well, so it pairs with Weather Guard interior lights and remote keyless entry accessories.
It holds up well. The brite white ARMOR TUF powder coat is baked on to fight rust, chipping and yellowing, and the full-perimeter D-shaped seal keeps water out of the box. White does pick up road grime faster than a dark box, but a quick wipe brings it back, and the light color reflects heat to keep tools cooler inside.

This is my first saddle box: with a single 'chest-type' hinged top door. My previous work trucks equipped with cross-bed tool boxes always had gull-wing top doors. The large top door on this box gives good access to a huge storage space, and the latches close securely with a positive click by merely pressing firmly in either back corner of the lid. Even minus 30* temps and 12" of snow, this box remains dry and weather-tight. The paint finish is very good; one corner of the lid got nicked, repaired with sandpaper and white nail polish ;-) The keyed-alike locks work perfectly and the hooks on the back of the box are quite handy for securing larger loads like furniture. Overall this toolbox has met and exceeded all my requirements. Further, l expect it will serve me well into the future.
Hands down the best made truck box
It has two tie down loops attached to front which was good cause I lost two tie downs by attaching toolbox over them.it is a big heavy steel box which fits alot of my tools .just very expensive. But you get what u pay 4
Length, width and depth were just as advertised. Locking mechanism, fit & finish, all Weather Guard Quality!
Does not come with carpet or a lining. Does not come with foam for the bed rails. I needed a box that has side lock buttons. Decided on the weather guard based on a had one years ago and it was awesome. Quality of this one for the money spent just isn’t worth it.
Solid Tool Box
This toolbox really surprised me. I expected the lid to be flimsy like most toolboxes, but when you push down on one corner to close it, both sides latch. I weigh 250 lbs and can stand on the lid, hop up and down, and it doesn't give at all. The powdercoat is tough and cleans up really well. If you want a secure toolbox that will hold up to thrives and look great, buy this.
Installing process was super easy, the white box matches my white work truck great, and has a TON of room!

Item was packaged incorrectly. Spoke with customer service, said no problem - started a return. Then denied return becasue it shipped freight???? It's the WRONG part in the box!!!
Fit well in 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 6' bed. Plenty of space. Fits DeWalt one latch tool boxes inside. Install was simple. Delivery went smoothly too. The finish on the box is nice too. The tray included was handy. The locking mechanism work without any issues. Great upgrade to plastic yellow top storage boxes.
Nice tool box
Great toolbox! Lots of room to store important items. The only thing we did not pay attention to when purchasing was that it is a very wide box. In a regular or short bed truck, this will not allow the ladders to reach the headache rack with the legs touching the bottom of the bed. But that's okay!
After being hit by thieves twice it has become apparent that thieves are now collecting Weatherguard keys. Both times access was gained without forced entry. Consequently this renders the box useless for tool security. I suggest a different box or adding additional hasps and locks.
The strength and build of this box is very good. No trouble with the install other than trying to reach the mounting hole closest to the cab of the truck. I hadTo use the two furthest away from the cab. I bought a rubber floor pad to line the bottom so cargo would not bounce around.

We have had 3 of these in our life. We bought the first one about 15 years ago. We are a construction worker and it gets MAJOR use. Our first one needs a new latch and new shock absorber on one side. Not sure how to get that replaced. Bought our second one a year ago and 3rd one a month ago for our employee. We like that its BIG, holds a lot of tools and doesnt rust out. 4 star only because the welds broke on the 15 year old because the latch broke, the welds broke on back hinge and shock absorbers wore out. And its hard to get parts... actually, we havent figured out how to get replacement parts. But again, ours gets MAJOR use. so its the cadilac for average usage.
This box is well worth the money. The only problem is I live in NJ and we get a lot of rain. The bed box got rust in the right rear corner where the weather striping did not full protect.
This box was easily double the price of the "bargain brands" but the quality, craftsmanship and finish details are worth every penny. The full-length lid clicks shut securely from either side. Of course the storage space is gigantic. I worked construction for 21 years and used 3 different non-name-brand boxes, on 2 different trucks. This is the box I saw on some of the nicer contractors' trucks. Now I know why...Anyhow, I got what I wanted. Also, I got what I paid for: the nicest cross-bed tool box on the market. Don't forget the lifetime warranty. Yeah, you definitely get what you pay for with Weather Guard.
I’ve had my steel Weatherguard tool box for almost 6 years now and no complaints. Lifetime warranty on it. Called them up with the serial number and model number and am shipping out new shocks free of charge to me. Actually get a person on the line that speaks English
I carry allot of expensive tools and this is the most secure box I have ever used, It is waterproof and dustproof . The mounting system works great, High quallity
It's perfect . Exactly what I wanted
Purchased for my F250 which will solely be used for travel trailer towing. The extra wide tool box is perfect for storing miscellaneous tools and trailer set up equipment. It's obviously designed and manufactured as a heavy duty unit for the working person which can be expected to use and abuse the box in the course of their trade. I like the fact that it has a flat to satin black finish (and not a high gloss finish as advertised). The reason for the 4 star review is the powder coat actually has some paint runs, some metal panels are slightly warped / bowed, and some other finish imperfections. Was hoping the surface finished quality was better as it goes on a brand new truck, but again, this is for the working person (not an old retired one like me). For the expensive price of the box, the finish could of, and should of, been better.
