Weather Guard Van Upfit Gear

A companion look at the broader Weather Guard van upfit system, folding shelves, rigid flooring, and locking bins, that pairs with your Safari roof rack when you build out a full-size work van inside and out.

Aluminum Safari Van Rack Installation

Weather Guard's installation video for the aluminum Safari van rack covers mounting the rack to the van roof and assembling the crossmembers and side rails. The aluminum build keeps weight off the roof while carrying the same long loads as the steel version. It is the manufacturer's own reference, so the hardware and the sequence shown are the correct ones. Watch it end to end before you start, then follow the printed instructions on the vehicle.

Glidesafe Load Assist Install Guide

Weather Guard's step-by-step guide covers installing the Glidesafe load assist on a van rack. Glidesafe is the assist mechanism that takes the weight and the awkwardness out of getting a ladder up onto and back down off the roof. It is worth watching even if you are not adding the assist yet, because it shows how the rack and the load-handling hardware bolt together. Coming from Weather Guard itself, it is the most reliable reference for fitting the accessory correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

What is different about a Safari rack?

It is a full-length rack that spans the whole roof, about 150", rather than just two crossbars, and its front and rear cross members extend over the ends of the van so you can slide long ladders and material on and off easily.

Which vans does the 210-3 fit?

Full-size vans with rain gutters: the Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, and Ford E-Series. It clamps to the gutters with extra-wide stainless brackets. Newer vans without gutters should use the aluminum channel-kit Safari racks (ASRS001 or ASRL001).

Does it come with an airfoil?

Yes. A Weather Guard airfoil mounts to the front cross member to cut wind noise and drag and add rack security at highway speed.

Is it heavy to install?

Yes. At about 205 lb it is a large full-length rack, so plan for a two-person or three-person install and confirm your van roof load rating before loading.

What can I carry on it?

Ladders, pipe, conduit, lumber, and other long or bulky material across the full length of the roof. Anti-wear protection guards the load and the included Velcro straps hold it in place.

Is it covered by a warranty?

Yes. It is backed by the Weather Guard Limited Lifetime Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
