A slant-back frame for bikes
The patented slant-back frame swings out over the lowered tailgate, and AMP Research says the Moto fits up to a full-size motorcycle.
More room from a smaller bed
On the mid-size and compact pickups it is built for, AMP Research says the Moto adds up to 30% more cargo space. Flip it inside with the gate closed and it becomes a basket for smaller loads.
Bring the bike along
Drop the tailgate and swing the slant-back frame out, and the end of the bed is closed off for the ride to the trail. Back home, flip it inside and it keeps smaller cargo gathered by the gate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
Do I need an extra kit to haul a motorcycle?
Plan on it. The installation guide lists AMP Research's universal quick-latch mounting bracket kit as required on all short-bed trucks when hauling motorcycles. Older compact pickups (GM S-Series, Mazda B-Series, and Nissan and Toyota pickups before 2005) also need the L-bracket kit to complete installation. Check your truck's listing before you load up.
Will my motorcycle fit?
AMP Research says the Moto fits up to a full-size motorcycle. Measure your bike against the bed with the tailgate down before you rely on it. Keep in mind that the guide limits the open tailgate to 200 lb with the extender in use, so most of the bike's weight has to sit on the bed floor, and the bike must be strapped to the bed's anchors, never to the extender or the tailgate.
Which trucks is it made for?
The guide describes the Moto as the small-truck version, for mid-size and compact pickups with smaller beds. The fitment table on this page is the authority for your exact truck. For wider beds, AMP Research makes the HD Sport and HD Max.
Does installation require drilling?
Yes. The brackets mount to the rear bed pillars through holes drilled from the supplied template, then fasten with self-tapping screws. If the bed has a liner, drill through it and mount over it; where the liner's contours stop a bracket sitting flat, the guide has you cut a section away so the bracket seats on the metal pillar.
How do I take it off?
With the tailgate open, lift the extender to about 45 degrees and it comes out of its brackets; put it back the same way. Because it is not locked to the truck, take it out or cover the bed if you leave the truck somewhere busy.
Can it stay on when I am not carrying a bike?
Yes. Flip it forward into the bed and close the tailgate, and it works as a basket that keeps smaller cargo near the gate. When you need the whole bed, lift it out.
