PowerStep Fast Facts
A quick look at the boards in use. Doors open, the step travels out from under the truck and someone steps up, which is the clearest way to judge how far it comes out before you commit to a kit.

Fits the same truck

A long form install on a heavy duty Chevrolet. It follows the linkage mounting on the pinch weld, the routing of the harness over the wheel wells and the control module wiring, which is the slow part of the job.
An overview of the wider PowerStep line rather than a single part number. Several trucks are shown with boards deploying, so it is useful for seeing how the same system looks on different cab shapes.
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
They follow the doors. Opening any door sends the boards down and out. When the last door shuts there is a pause of about two seconds before they stow, which stops them cycling while you are loading kids or gear in and out.
The board stops. An obstruction in the path of a moving board triggers an automatic stop rather than a forced push, which protects the mechanism and whatever it ran into. Clear the obstruction, then open and close a door to resume.
Yes. Hold a board in the deployed position with your foot while you close the door and it stays out, giving you a step at roof height for a rack or a load. Opening and closing a door returns normal operation.
They can. Debris packed into the mechanism is the usual cause of noise, so wash the boards down without aiming a jet straight at the motors. Silicone spray on the hinge pivot pins afterwards is called for. Keep wax and protectants off the stepping surface.
The sheet puts it at 3 to 5 hours and rates the skill level as experienced, with professional installation recommended. There is bolt work on each side plus a harness, a control module and an OBD connection, so it asks more than a bolt-on step does.
The supplied OBD module sits in the diagnostic port, so yes, unless you add the pass through harness sold separately. That harness leaves an open port for other accessories while the boards keep reading the door signal.
