Two motors per side is what separates the PowerStep Xtreme from AMP Research's other running boards. The extra torque is there for mornings when ice, packed snow, mud or trail debris would slow a single-motor board, so the step still comes out when a door opens and still tucks away when the doors close. Underneath that drivetrain it keeps the PowerStep essentials: a 6" wide aluminum board rated to 300 lb per door, a textured black powder coat and LED lamps over the step. Pick it if winter driving or muddy trails are part of every week.
Features
Two motors on each side The Xtreme is AMP Research's dual-motor PowerStep: two motors per side supply the extra torque that a single-motor board lacks when the going gets heavy.
Made for bad-weather mornings Ice build-up, packed snow, mud and debris are exactly what the second motor is there to push through, so the step keeps deploying when a single motor would struggle. Cleaning still matters; see the FAQ.
Automatic, door to door Opening a door brings the board down; shutting the doors sends it back beneath the body. Everyday use needs no switch at all.
Clearance kept on the trail Retracted, the board sits under the vehicle, keeping the side profile clean and ground clearance intact, which counts on the terrain this model is meant for.
Stainless pivots, 300 lb rating Every Xtreme board carries a 300 lb per door rating, and its pivots turn on stainless steel pins and hardware.
A lit, textured, 6" wide step The aluminum board wears a textured black powder coat and a slip-resistant 6" wide surface, with LED lamps that light it as it deploys.
Manual control if you want it AMP Research offers an override switch as a separate accessory for times you want the boards held in or out.

Fit guidance: Choose your vehicle to find the exact part: applications differ by cab, engine, body style and, on some, connection type, and some cabs need the boards cut to length, so confirm those details on the part's own listing before ordering.

Installation
Type: Vehicle-specific brackets and wiring · Time: 2 to 5 hours, depending on the vehicle · Difficulty: Experienced installer; AMP Research recommends professional installation
An Xtreme kit is built for one vehicle and puts a motorized linkage at each end of every board, so there are twice as many motors to seat and connect as on a single-motor board. Most applications drill holes along the pinch weld or floor, and shorter cabs trim the boards to the lengths the guide lists. The wiring is joined with crimp or Posi-style connectors, and with four motors on the harness the wiring has to follow the guide exactly, so work through it closely or have a shop do the job. Torque each fastener to its listed value, then open every door to confirm both boards deploy and the lamps come on.
Warranty, Shipping & Returns
Warranty. The PowerStep Xtreme carries AMP Research's limited warranty for defects in materials or workmanship on boards installed as the instructions describe. The remedy is a repair or replacement at AMP Research's choice; taking the part off and refitting it is not covered. It protects the original buyer only, ends if the boards go onto another vehicle or the vehicle is sold, and leaves out misuse, accidents, poor installation, modification, lack of maintenance and road hazards.
Inspect on delivery. With four motors and their linkages in the box, inspect everything before you sign, and record any damage on the delivery receipt right away. Count the parts against the guide's list well before the install, so a missing motor or bracket turns up early.
Returns. Unused items in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. If an item arrives damaged, defective or wrong, return shipping is on us. See our Returns & Refunds Policy, or email support@prestigetruck.com with any question.
About AMP Research
Power-retractable running boards have been AMP Research's core product since the first PowerStep in 2002, and the range now also covers bed steps and bed extenders. Its limited warranty answers for material or workmanship defects when a product has been installed by the book, protects the original buyer, and holds only while the product remains on the vehicle it first went onto.
The Xtreme is the heavy-weather model among AMP Research's five powered running boards. The standard PowerStep and the lifted-vehicle PowerStep XL each drive a side with one motor; the Xtreme doubles that. The PowerStep Vision builds a full-length LED edge strip into the board, and the PowerStep Smart Series brings control from a phone app. For the pickup bed, AMP Research also makes the BedStep, the BedStep2 and the BedXTender HD extenders.
Each PowerStep variant, the Xtreme included, starts with aluminum that resists corrosion, finished in a textured black powder coat, turning on stainless pins and fasteners, with LED lighting integrated. Mounting kits are specific to each vehicle, and AMP Research protects the design with its own patents.

Two motors for rough weather
The Xtreme gives each side two motors instead of one, adding the torque to push a board out through ice, packed snow or mud. Open a door on a frozen morning and the step is meant to be there, then back under the body once the doors close.
Folds up tight under the cab
When the doors close, each Xtreme board retracts beneath the body instead of hanging off the rocker. The profile stays clean, ground clearance stays where it was, and the board is out of the way while you drive.

Under the dual-motor drivetrain is a corrosion-resistant aluminum board with a textured black powder coat and stainless steel hinge pins, rated to 300 lb per door. LED lamps light the 6" wide step on dark winter mornings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on specs, fit and support
What is actually different about the Xtreme?
The drivetrain. The Xtreme uses two motors on each side where the standard PowerStep, the XL, the Vision and the Smart Series use one. The board itself is the same 6" wide aluminum step rated to 300 lb per door. Choose the Xtreme when snow, ice, mud or trail debris regularly get into the mechanism.
Does two motors mean it will never freeze up?
No. The second motor adds torque to push through build-up, but it does not make the linkage immune to it. Keep the pivots clean: blast the front and rear linkages with a pressure washer while keeping the jet off the motors, mist each pivot with dry-film silicone spray, and cycle the doors. Skip grease, oil, WD-40 and penetrants.
Is it plug-and-play?
Newer Xtreme applications draw the door signal from an OBD-II plug-in module, while some earlier ones are wired into the vehicle's circuits; the guide for your vehicle shows which. Either way the job includes electrical work: the harness is joined with crimp or Posi-style connectors, and on some vehicles a factory wire is tapped or a lead runs to the battery.
Will I need to drill or trim anything?
Usually. Most Xtreme applications drill holes in the pinch weld or floor, and on shorter cabs the boards are cut to a length the guide specifies. Read the installation guide for your vehicle before deciding whether to fit it yourself.
How long is the install, and can I do it myself?
The Xtreme guides estimate between 2 and 5 hours by vehicle and class the install as experienced-level work, and AMP Research advises professional installation. With four motors to seat and connect, follow the wiring steps exactly, and check every part against the list before you start.
What does the warranty cover?
Faults in materials or workmanship on boards installed the way the supplied instructions describe. The remedy is repair or replacement of the part at AMP Research's option; removal and reinstallation labor is excluded. It is the original buyer's cover, it lapses if the boards go onto another vehicle or the vehicle is sold, and misuse, accidents, poor installation, modification, lack of maintenance and road hazards fall outside it.
