Straight answers on specs, fit and support
GM redesigned them a year apart: the half-ton Silverado and Sierra arrived for 2014 and the matching 2500 HD and 3500 HD for 2015. The 6'6" bed is the same size on both once each truck reaches its first year, which is why one part number covers all of them.
Only the carryover body. GM sold the redesigned T1 truck alongside the old body for 2019, badged Silverado 1500 LD or Limited. The old body takes this cover; the redesigned truck takes BAK-1126131 for the 6'6" bed.
Yes, within 300 lb evenly distributed. A flat sheet is exactly the load the rating is built around, and the patented rail flange carries it along the bed rather than at a few points. Strap to the bed rails rather than to the cover panels.
Yes. The rails clamp above the factory track and its tie-down cleats on these trucks, so you can leave the whole system installed and keep using it under the closed cover.
The FRP top panels are rigid and resist cutting and puncturing, which is the main difference from a soft cover on an unattended truck. The cover latches down over a closed and locked tailgate. It is deterrence rather than a strongbox, so a locking crossover toolbox is still the right home for anything really valuable.
You will see some in cold, damp weather, as you would under any hard cover. The rails route water into an internal channel and out the drain hoses, and leaving the cover folded for an hour on a dry day clears the rest. It is not a fault.

Best addition I've put on my truck
The product came in under a week. My 12 year old son and I installed it together and it took about an hour. We took our time and got everything aligned perfectly. If there could be one improvement to the design, it would be a quick release system so you wouldnt have to realign again if you remove it temporarily.
Cover looks good and is easy to put on. Only issue Ive had is the front corners closest to the cab do not seat properly and let water in on rainy days. Set should come with two angled foam seals for the front corners. Not a difficult fix just annoying to find after full install.
This is my 2nd Bakkflip. So far, so good
Shipment came fast and the product was very easy to install. Its been very durable thus far. I love this cover.
This was a great purchase very easy to install. Heavy duty.
An amazing cover but allows too much water in.
I chose this cover over a couple others after a few months of research. The fact that it has 4 sections makes it really easy to handle. The release on both sides makes it convenient from either side. It has been water tight so far. Install was fairly easy needing just a couple minor adjustments to make sure it sit well. The only issue, which is minor, is that the weather strip in the last panel next to tail gate tends to slide side to side from being opened and closed often. All in all a great purchase.
We are so happy that we decided on the BAKFlip Fibermax. It works well and looks great. It was worth spending a little more because of the quality.
I love the cover, but when you drive with it partially open strapped in place there is a sharp edge that rubs on the outer weather stripping. I filed the sharp edge and added some additional weather stripping.
I will update this reciew after i receive my replacement cover. Many issue in receiving 1st, having to reorder.. received it and it does not fit properly. Spoke with CS Manager John and I am supposed to get a new unit. Still waiting, holiday shipping "may" have delayed the replacement. I must say customer service has been great, when you can get them on the phone. Very poor follow up though.
