Features
- Folds open for bed access: Fold the panels forward to the cab and secure them, and the whole bed is open; BAK says you can drive with the cover fully open that way. BAK's install sheet gives two ways to carry it open: folded and strapped at the bulkhead, or flipped up against the cab on locked prop rods.
- Automatic slam latches: Each panel locks to the side rails as it closes, through BAK's patented rail and clamp system and automatic slam latches. To open it, lower the tailgate and pull the release cable on either side.
- Sheds rain and debris: Precision-fit EPDM rubber perimeter seals and rounded hinges are designed to keep water and debris out, and a built-in drainage system carries off what gets past them through drain tubes. BAK's own sheet notes the cover is not airtight, so it is weather-resistant rather than waterproof.
- Light solid-core panels: The panels have solid cores with aircraft-grade aluminum skins, which BAK says adds strength without adding much weight. BAK rates the closed cover at 300 lb, evenly distributed.
- No-drill clamp-on install: BAK's patented rail and clamp system mounts without drilling into the bed rails on most trucks, and BAK puts most installs at 30 minutes or less with basic hand tools. A few trucks use brackets or bolt-in rails instead; each truck's page shows its own method.
- Low-profile, lasting finish: It sits low on the bed rails, and the corrosion-resistant black powder coat is made to resist fading, chipping and flaking. BAK says the finish meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality benchmarks.
Description & Fitment
Made for one bed, the 6'6" box on the 1994-2001 Dodge Ram 1500, 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 2500, plus the 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 3500, this BAKFlip G2 folds back in panels. It clamps on with three or four clamps a side and no drilling into the bed rails. You get EPDM perimeter seals with rounded hinges and drain tubes, plus a black powder coat. Folded against the cab, it leaves the full bed open. BAK makes the 8' bed as 226202. It carries BAK's 3-year limited warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit my 1994-2001 Ram 1500?
Yes, if it has the 6'6" bed. For the 8' bed (226202), choose that part instead. Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate, or send us your VIN and we will confirm.
Do I have to drill anything?
Not into the bed rails. The drain tubes can run behind a bed liner or through the bed plugs; drilling a 5/8" hole in the bulkhead is only one of BAK's options.
How is the G2 different from the BAKFlip F1 and FiberMax?
All three are BAKFlip hard folding covers. The G2 uses solid-core panels with aircraft-grade aluminum skins, is rated at 300 lb and carries a 3-year warranty. The F1 has fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) top skins over a high-density foam core, is rated at 400 lb and carries a 5-year warranty. The FiberMax has FRP top panels on an aluminum substructure, a 300 lb rating and a 3-year warranty.
Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?
It is built to. EPDM rubber perimeter seals and rounded hinges keep out most water and debris, and the drainage system carries off what gets past them through drain tubes. BAK's install sheet notes the cover is not airtight, so keep anything that must stay dry in a sealed container. Clear snow and ice off before you open it; that is also a warranty condition.
Can I carry cargo on top of the cover?
BAK rates the closed G2 at 300 lb, evenly distributed. Its install sheet also says not to tie cargo to the cover or drive with objects on top of it, so treat the rating as a measure of strength, not as a roof rack.
Can I drive with it open?
Yes. Folded forward, it is held by the straps and buckles at the bulkhead; flipped up against the cab, the prop rods lock it in place. BAK's warranty requires the cover to be secured at all points whenever the truck is moving.

Here's the short version. Follow BAK's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact clamp positions and settings.
- Prep the bed. Make sure the areas where the cover mounts are clean. If your kit has a bulkhead seal, clean the top of the bulkhead with soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol, let it dry and stick the seal from one edge to the other, trimming the excess (no seal is needed with a drop-in bed liner). If your kit has rubber filler strips, stick them between the plastic bed cap and the metal rail.
- Set the side rails. Set each side rail flush with the top edge of the bed rail, drain end toward the cab, pushed all the way forward and square to the bed. Fit the drain tubes to the front of the rails and run them behind a bed liner, through the bed plugs or through a 5/8" hole drilled in the bulkhead.
- Clamp the rails. Fit three or four clamps per side, depending on the truck: the front one 6-8" from the bulkhead, the rear one as close to the tailgate as you can, the rest evenly spaced. Seat each clamp as high as it goes with the rail level with the bed cap, then tighten all of them to 10 ft-lb with a 1/2" wrench or socket; don't over-tighten. Repeat on the other side.
- Fit the cover. Slide the two cover retainer clamps into the track under the cover near the cab, and screw the two strap buckles to the front panel by hand with a Phillips screwdriver (BAK says no screw gun). Set the folded cover on the rails at the cab end, centered between them, and turn the retainer clamps clockwise until the lock washer is secure.
- Unfold and square it up. With the cover still folded, clean its top edge where it meets the cab (soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol) and stick the cab bumpers along it. Unfold the cover to the tailgate and check that each panel is centered side to side and front to back; the tail panel should overlap the tailgate by about 1/2". Shift it on the loosened retainer clamps if needed, then re-tighten them. With a power tailgate, make sure it still opens and closes with the cover shut.
- Check the latches. Release each latch to make sure it catches the side rails; the sheet shows how to adjust a slam latch that hits or misses. BAK's warranty asks you to re-check every clamp after the first week of driving and now and then after that.

Great Bed Cover
I love BAKFlip bed covers. This is the second one I've installed. The first was on a Ram. The most recent was on a Ford Ranger. Other than some extra hardware to install in the kit, which was not needed on the Ram, it was still fairly easy to install. They work great and offer security and protection for items placed in my p/u bed.

25 Ram with ramboxes
I called to inquire about fitment on my 25 Ram with the Ram boxes and the guy on the phone cut me a really good deal. After I installed the cover I noticed an error from assembly. 2024 Ram 1500 w/ Rambox
The cover is very nice and fairly easy to install. The instructor were confusing at first, but once you understand how they are intended to be read, it's straightforward. The cover itself lines up very nice and functions well. The reason for only 4 stars is the lack of anything to fill the gap between the rambox and the tailgate. There is a 1" by 2"+ gap on both sides which are simply open, allowing water to get in and removing any security the cover may provide. This is easily filled with avail rolls of foam rubber, but for the price of this cover, that should be included.

The cover mounted easily and looks great. The truck I installed the cover on is a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. This is essentially a fully redesigned truck from 2008. It looks like an ad hock solution was added to the 2008 designed cover kit by providing a rubber seal strip that needs to be applied to the front of the cover by the installer. This only provides minimal water leak protection. The front rail mounting brackets do not force or pull the front lip down adequately. A different front seal / design is in order here.

Perfect for me
I had the same cover on my other truck so I already knew what to expect. Its not completely water proof some water does seep in but not much. I can deal with it for the protection I get. This is a very sturdy cover and well worth the investment! DON'T buy a cheap cover just because it costs less; as the saying goes, "the cheap is expensive." DO look for an installation video online before installing; there are subtle things that make the cover fit better and placement of the bumpers as well as other great advice that you don't get from the written instructions. LOVE mine on my 2017 RAM, and highly recommend!!!

Tundra Takes More Effort
More steps to install on a Tundra, but worth the extra effort. I have had several covers on other trucks, Titans and Tundras and they all allowed a “little” water in the bed, but not this one! Been through the car wash three times since installed and the only water was at the tailgate. Very impressive. Cover looks great on my truck!

Bakflip G2 tonneau cover
Cover did not fit with my bed liner even though it says it will. So I had to cut parts of my bed liner out!! My tailgate doesn’t fully close now. Because the rails are a tiny bit longer than my box. Also directions were very poor. Had to adjust the cover to fit my box which was quite easy although directions did not explain how to, so it took me 4 hours to install!! Lastly it is not fully water proof water gets in my box at the 2 corners closest to the cab. Not worth the money!

bak flip and hail
This cover looks excellent on my 07 Dodge Ram and is ultra low profile. It does leak a very small amount of water in either a car wash or heavy rain storm, but not so much as to keep me from recommending it to anyone. One caveat, if you encounter hail of any decent size ie. over .5 inches it will look like someone went postal on it with a hammer. Mine has over 220 dents in it from hail in S. Illinois a few weeks ago. Maybe bakflip could design this with a heavier guage aluminum to minimize denting, realizing that this will increase weight a little. I think most guys would be willing to make the tradeoff.

I installed this unit by myself so it's that easy. It looks great and fold nice and easy. I actually walked on it and it felt very sturdy. The only thing I didn't like was the tube for the rail system drain is in the front of the bed and I have to drill a hole to relieve water. Overall well worth the money.

2021 GMC Canyon BAKFlip G2
I choose this tonneau cover because of the flush fit it has over the truck bed. It looks very nice. The down side is it does get some water in the bed when it’s closed from the tail gate area. This happens while washing the truck or in heavy downpours. At the front of the bed, the seal strip that’s provided could be a little bit thicker for us guys who don’t have a bed liner yet. When the product arrived and I opened the box, there was aluminum shavings on the cover itself. I had to clean it off before installing it. Over all I do like the bedcover.

The package didn’t come with any small adjustment pads for the rail and it wouldn’t level up. Lucky I had something that would work for a level rail. Then once installed 2 of the snap clips that hold the liner down won’t snap on the rail.

Backflip G2 tri fold tonneau cover

Decent cover
I really like the looks of the cover on my truck. Although i have noticed it seems like the black is already beginning to chip away in various spots. I had a frustrating time when it came to delivery of the product, recieved without hardware for installation. Had to wait a few extra days for that to arrive. Found one of the seals to be cut. Modified it so i didnt have to deal with returning and reordering process. I like the ease of operation of this cover.

BAKFlip G2 Bedcover for 2026 Chevy 2500
The cover was boxed up very good and arrived with no damage. It was easy to install and very good quality. The last one that I had on a different truck was tri fold and this one is quad fold which allows me to open first panel with one arm without straining my shoulder.

Clamps – not good
Generally, this tonneau cover is sturdy as described and looks great on the truck. However, there must be a better system to attach the rails. The clamps were unwieldy. The directions were difficult to figure out, and I had to take it off and put on two times to get it right. Because it came loose, I generally drive with a bit of a nervous stomach, thinking it’ll pop off at any time.

Disappointed that when I got it out of the box one of clips for the strap/buckle was completely broken. Protects from water for the most part unless parked at an angle in which case your bed completely gets drenched.

The fit and adjustment of the latches is subpar. The rail ends are not designed well and should engage the rails more to provide secure fitment. The rail ends will be one of those things that be a point of frustration. disappointed.

Could be better
I have bought in the past and installation and fit was good. Bought for my f-250 and had to make some adjustments to rails. Also it has a hard time engaging at tailgate area. Need to force it to close. Hopefully with some wear it will close better.

Leaking cover
I had the cover for about a week and closed it one day to find that one of the rubber pieces had pulled out from where it was positioned leaving a big hole where water continuously leaks threw

The finish of the big
The finish of the big flap closest to the cab is much more shiny than the other 2, and it seems to have a slightly different texture as well. It is definitely from a different batch of material, therefore the difference in the finish.

basic design is good- missing

Very nice cover, fairly easy
Very nice cover, fairly easy install, but the rubber sealer strips along the rails at all four corners were just glued one over the other and peeled apart as soon as I installed the cover. Also seemed to somewhat leak through bi-folds during heavy rain, as top of cover from the inside seemed wet. May have just run across from the side not entirely sure.

Do not buy for a Ford Ranger
Great bed cover as a product, but the Ranger specific instructions were hard to follow, not well written, and lacked the necessary level of detail. The workarounds needed to make the bed cover fit and work as intended leave little faith in the stability and longevity of the product. It is as likely to fly off the bed as stay secured. This would have been returned had I not already installed most of it, resulting in visible signs of use. I have a friend with a Colorado, and the bed design is much more suited to this cover than a Ranger. It required no modifications and is a perfect fit.

Not good
Ordered the cover for my 26 Honda Ridgeline. After installation of the rails, the cover does not properly lock into place. Brought the truck to a certified installer and they could not get it to properly lock/fit. Customer service has been slow to respond and keep requesting additional photos. 3 weeks later , they tell me the brackets were not installed properly. I get it if it was just me doing the install, however, the certified installer ripped everything down when I brought it to them. These are the folks they recommend to install their tonneau covers. Regardless, this could be an isolated incident but I still do not have the cover installed. Rather get a refund and move on to a different brand.

Has been on order for over two weeks and not shipped. Have called and chatted and get no information for the delay. My credit card was charged when ordered and will be due soon. It is to long for
It is to long for the bed. If i put the seal on the front of the bed then the back seal is out over the tailgate. If i line the seal up to the tailgate then the seal is out in front of the bed. IN the corners there is a gag of about 1/2" by 1". The paint is bare in several places on the cover. I bought to be water tight and it is not. would not recommand this to another person. Thanks John

NOT THE ORIGINAL
THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL! I had an original BAKflip and it was great. Got a new Tacoma and bought the E-Z flip and returned it because when folded the cover didn't reach the cab and hung out. So I returned it for the sure thing, the original that I had bought previously. IT IS NOT THE SAME COVER. The panels are different sizes, which changes the hing points, mounting is different and sucks, you have to shim it! This is an example of taking something which isn't broken and ruining it.

Install was way more difficult then expected. Still have leaks and having to use additional double sided tape. When folding up, gets off track and also doesn't lock without force...... Happy with the look, but going to take time to get it dialed in

Not bad but not great
The versatility is great with being able to use entire bed of truck . The fit is not the best , I noticed when washing the truck i do get leaking in all four corners . When shipped to me the arm that holds the cover up in the folded position wasn't attached completely from the factory however the customer service at Bakfip were very good and fast at shipping me not only a whole new set of rails but the updated version with better clips that store the prop rods . Over all for 900 plus dollars expected better but I'm sure I'll be happy with it

Great but...
I purchased this after installing one on a buddies truck a few years ago. I love how low profile this cover is! My only gripe was that mine came with no instructions. You may say "oh just look it up" well yes I did and proceeded to panic because none of the manuals had whatever version I got/ all the videos showed different rails. So to help those that may get the same thing I'm posting pics because I was very confused until I had a brain blast and got the cover installed. Took about an hour by myself and that's with all the panic and swearing lol

It’s okay
Going into purchasing the mx3 I knew it was going to be pretty good at keeping water out and it has. After installing and put in the rain the first night there were a few drip spots and I was fine with it. And the last latch doesn’t really clip on after putting the last panel down. You need to pull the tension wire for it to lock in. Would need to ask for more clamps to possibly not make that issue happen anymore. Other than that it’s a great cover.

Nice Cover But Needs Work
I gave this a 4 because the manufacturer skimps on hardware. Where there should be four screws like on “All Pane Latches” there are only two diagonally. There’s no height adjustment for the rails, and when fully opened against the back of cab, the bumpers should be mounted on the cab. Otherwise if driven in that configuration it will scuff and rub the paint on the truck’s cab. The two rear latches need to be modified to prevent being opened with a wire or slim-jim. I’m disappointed that I saw you advertise that no longer have to close tail gate first, but mine has to be done as the old production. Other than those minor shortcomings it’s a nice functional idea and product.
