Features

  • Folds open for bed access: Fold the panels forward to the cab and secure them, and the whole bed is open; BAK says you can drive with the cover fully open that way. BAK's install sheet gives two ways to carry it open: folded and strapped at the bulkhead, or flipped up against the cab on locked prop rods.
  • Automatic slam latches: Each panel locks to the side rails as it closes, through BAK's patented rail and clamp system and automatic slam latches. To open it, lower the tailgate and pull the release cable on either side.
  • Sheds rain and debris: Precision-fit EPDM rubber perimeter seals and rounded hinges are designed to keep water and debris out, and a built-in drainage system carries off what gets past them through drain tubes. BAK's own sheet notes the cover is not airtight, so it is weather-resistant rather than waterproof.
  • Light solid-core panels: The panels have solid cores with aircraft-grade aluminum skins, which BAK says adds strength without adding much weight. BAK rates the closed cover at 300 lb, evenly distributed.
  • No-drill clamp-on install: BAK's patented rail and clamp system mounts without drilling into the bed rails on most trucks, and BAK puts most installs at 30 minutes or less with basic hand tools. A few trucks use brackets or bolt-in rails instead; each truck's page shows its own method.
  • Low-profile, lasting finish: It sits low on the bed rails, and the corrosion-resistant black powder coat is made to resist fading, chipping and flaking. BAK says the finish meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality benchmarks.

Description & Fitment

Here is the BAKFlip G2 for the 2015-2020 Ford F-150, sized to the 8' bed. It brings EPDM perimeter seals with rounded hinges and drain tubes and a black powder coat. The two-piece side rails join up first and then clamp on with four clamps a side, no drilling. Opening it starts with the tailgate down: pull the release cable and lift the panel toward the cab. For the 5'7" bed, the part is 226329. It carries BAK's 3-year limited warranty.

Fitment & Compatibility

Ford
Years Model Bed Notes
2015-2020 F-150 8' —

Check your bed: measure along the top of the bed rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate. This cover is for the 8' bed.

Not for: the 5'7" bed (226329); the 6'7" bed (226327); the 2004-2014 Ford F-150 without Ford's Cargo Management System (226308); the 2021-2027 Ford F-150 (226338). Each of those has its own BAKFlip G2 part number.

About BAK Industries

BAK Industries makes hard tonneau covers for pickups, among them the BAKFlip hard folding covers and the Revolver roll-up line. BAK's install sheets and customer service come from BAK Industries in Springfield, Missouri.

The G2 is the BAKFlip with solid-core, aluminum-skinned panels; BAK calls it the original hard fold cover that set the standard. The F1 and FiberMax are BAKFlip models with fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) tops, and the F1 carries a 400 lb rating and a 5-year warranty.

Authorized BAK dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized BAK Industries dealer. BAK's warranty is for the initial owner who buys the cover, and BAK states: "Warranty registration must be on file and/or proof of original purchase (detailed and dated receipt) required for warranty to be effective." Keep your order confirmation; contact us for registration help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my 2015-2020 F-150?

Yes, if it has the 8' bed. For the 5'7" bed (226329) or the 6'7" bed (226327), choose that part instead. Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate, or send us your VIN and we will confirm.

Do I have to drill anything?

Not into the bed rails. The drain tubes can run behind a bed liner or through the bed plugs; drilling a 5/8" hole in the bulkhead is only one of BAK's options.

How is the G2 different from the BAKFlip F1 and FiberMax?

All three are BAKFlip hard folding covers. The G2 uses solid-core panels with aircraft-grade aluminum skins, is rated at 300 lb and carries a 3-year warranty. The F1 has fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) top skins over a high-density foam core, is rated at 400 lb and carries a 5-year warranty. The FiberMax has FRP top panels on an aluminum substructure, a 300 lb rating and a 3-year warranty.

Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?

It is built to. EPDM rubber perimeter seals and rounded hinges keep out most water and debris, and the drainage system carries off what gets past them through drain tubes. BAK's install sheet notes the cover is not airtight, so keep anything that must stay dry in a sealed container. Clear snow and ice off before you open it; that is also a warranty condition.

Can I carry cargo on top of the cover?

BAK rates the closed G2 at 300 lb, evenly distributed. Its install sheet also says not to tie cargo to the cover or drive with objects on top of it, so treat the rating as a measure of strength, not as a roof rack.

Can I drive with it open?

Yes. Folded forward, it is held by the straps and buckles at the bulkhead; flipped up against the cab, the prop rods lock it in place. BAK's warranty requires the cover to be secured at all points whenever the truck is moving.

Installation

Install time 30 minutes or less (BAK, most applications)
DifficultyLevel 1simple installation (BAK)
TypeClamp-on, no drilling into the bed rails
Tools
  • 1/2" wrench or socket and a Phillips screwdriver
  • plus isopropyl alcohol, scissors, and a drill only if you route the drain tubes through the bulkhead

Here's the short version. Follow BAK's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact clamp positions and settings.

  1. Prep the bed. Make sure the areas where the cover mounts are clean. If your kit has a bulkhead seal, clean the top of the bulkhead with soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol, let it dry and stick the seal from one edge to the other, trimming the excess (no seal is needed with a drop-in bed liner).
  2. Join the two-piece rails. Each side rail comes in two sections. Assemble the rail couplers with their screws and lock washers and slide one into the end of each main rail, snap the rail connector onto the tail end of the seal and rail, then slide the extender on and snap it home. Tighten the coupler screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
  3. Set and clamp the rails. Stick on any rubber filler strips, fit the drain tubes and set each rail flush with the top of the bed rail, drain end at the cab, square and pushed forward. Fit four clamps per side (front 6-8" from the bulkhead, rear near the tailgate, the third close to the rail joint) and tighten them to 10 ft-lb (14 Nm) with a 1/2" wrench or socket; don't over-tighten.
  4. Fit the cover. Slide the two cover retainer clamps into the track under the cover near the cab, and screw the two strap buckles to the front panel by hand with a Phillips screwdriver (BAK says no screw gun). Set the folded cover on the rails at the cab end, centered between them, and turn the retainer clamps clockwise until the lock washer is secure.
  5. Unfold and square it up. With the cover still folded, clean its top edge where it meets the cab (soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol) and stick the cab bumpers along it. Unfold the cover to the tailgate and check that each panel is centered side to side and front to back; the tail panel should overlap the tailgate by about 1/2". Shift it on the loosened retainer clamps if needed, then re-tighten them. With a power tailgate, make sure it still opens and closes with the cover shut.
  6. Check the latches. Release each latch to make sure it catches the side rails; the sheet shows how to adjust a slam latch that hits or misses. BAK's warranty asks you to re-check every clamp after the first week of driving and now and then after that.

Warranty, shipping & returns

  • 3-year limited warranty

BAK covers the BAKFlip G2 against defects in materials and workmanship for 3 years from the original purchase date.
    • BAK's limited warranty runs three (3) years for its G2 and FiberMax covers, from the original purchase date.
    • A defective cover or hardware part is repaired or replaced at BAK's option. BAK may instead substitute a newer model of similar form and function, offer a warranty discount on a complete replacement system, or provide another remedy.
    • It covers the original buyer only and is not transferable. BAK states: "Warranty registration must be on file and/or proof of original purchase (detailed and dated receipt) required for warranty to be effective." Contact us for registration help.
    • To keep it valid: clean only with mild automotive soap and water; keep the cover secured at all points while the truck is moving; check all clamps and retention parts for tightness after the first week of driving (and after any re-install) and now and then after that; clear snow, ice and anything else off before opening; and never tow the truck from the rear with the cover on (take it off and store it first). BAK's install sheet adds that insect repellents, oils, solvents and lubricants can damage the rubber hinges and seals and void the warranty.
    • Claims: get a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number from BAK customer service before sending anything back. BAK may ask for the part, postage prepaid, to make a final decision; shipping charges apply to a repair or replacement, with no other charge.
    • Not covered: damage from an accident, neglect, unforeseeable use, improper installation or servicing, or any other cause that isn't a defect in materials or workmanship.

Easier Life

This Tonneau cover makes life a lot easier. You have the option of complete pickup bed coverage, to partial Coverage and to almost Completely Open with the front panel down or folded up against the back of the cab. It allows you to have the cover open for access to our 5th wheel trailer hook up while keeping some articles covered in the front of the pickup bed. With a little ingenuity we were able to make a curtain of sorts that is used to conceal personal belongings in the front. (Out of sight, out of mind. ) The cover has a glossy black finish that seems very durable even after several months of use and car washes. The installation wasn't too difficult although the orientation of the side rails was a little confusing. It was also a little difficult getting the fasteners snapped into place so the side rails would be perfectly vertical to allow the cover to latch down. Once that was…

Great Cover Great Price

Easy to install, got one for the 2008 and the 2011 F150's. They look real sharp on the back and only took about 30 minutes for both to be installed. Shipped right to the door one right after the other, with tracking numbers. Not sure I need the drain hose but put it in any way. Not a drop on water gets in the back of either on of the trucks.

5 Star

This bed cover fit very well, and looks nice. I have had snow and rain and inside the bed is always dry. I did make 1 modification on mine, I tied short pieces of nylon string to the 3 pull cables on both sides. I found that sometimes you count not pull the release cable on one side so you would need to walk to the other side of the truck. Not a huge deal really just inconvenient. The reason that I gave it 4 stars for the ease of installation is that the instructions were not really clear on the 2 long plastic spacers or the 8 short plastic spacers. All in All I am very happy with my purchase and would buy this product again. Nice quality and looks great

The fit and finish is

The fit and finish is nice and with a locking tailgate, it's the most secure Tonneau I've found. The BakFlip is more expensive than soft covers, but the added security was worth it to me. It's also very simple to operate by yourself compared to velcro or the peel and seal types. I installed it at 10:30 at night in my driveway, with my wife holding a halogen lamp for me. So, yea, it's easy to install. :)

A nice change from my last bak, latches at each fold ensure the cover is held down at multiple points. Now why they allow rain to pour out of the ends of the rail system??? Also still don't seem to care about finished product, filings and drill shavings all over the top, take some respect in your work!!!

Ford F150 Owners Beware!

The promotional literature and videos for the Bakflip promote the fact that it folds completely out of the way allowing full use of the truck bed. They call it "Patented 100% Access". However, on 2015 Ford F150s with a 5'6" bed, this is not true. There is a smaller section in the back that takes approximately 6" to 8" usable space away, eliminating securing cargo against the back wall. If you have a Bakbox, you must move it out farther to access the compartment, further reducing your usable space. I have installed them and will give them a try. However,if they had pointed this out, I might have purchased a different product.

Good product. Fits good. Made

Good product. Fits good. Made for the truck, not generic. Easy to install if you don't question the instructions. I made it harder on myself by double checking measurments etc. Questions to the manufacture was answered quickly and completely. Quick access to someone real to talk to. One thing, (there is always something) was the rods that holds the folded cover open. They were placed wrong on the side rails. I moved them back 1 1/2" and it worked as it is suppose to. I actually moved the front hole to the back hole and drilled a new back hole. Easy fix. Called BAK and told them the problem Stephen Mayor

Great Tonneau and Great Customer Service

I purchased my G2 cover and had fast delivery, but there was a serious problem right out of the gate. I ordered the wrong size cover. I called Bakflip and they were great. I was sent an email with a shipping label for the tonneau I had and I shipped it out (no cost to me). As soon as they got the notice that it was shipped, they sent me a new tonneau. The new cover was easy to install and it looks great. I highly recommend a great product and great customer service.

More steps to install on a Tundra, but worth the extra effort. I have had several covers on other trucks, Titans and Tundras and they all allowed a “little” water in the bed, but not this one! 2nd one

This is the second Bakflip G2 for me. I installed one on my 2916 Nissan Frontier and now I've installed one on my 2021 Ford F-150. The one on my Frontier leaked a little during hard rain but I expected that because, being from Southern California at the time, I didn't bother to install the drains. This time I installed the drains because I'm living on the North Oregon Coast and it rains a lot here. So far I haven't noticed and water in the bed when it rains or when I wash the truck. The Bakf lip is very easy to install and it works and looks terrific. I am very pleased with this product.

Bakflip G2 tonneau cover

Cover did not fit with my bed liner even though it says it will. So I had to cut parts of my bed liner out!! My tailgate doesn’t fully close now. Because the rails are a tiny bit longer than my box. Also directions were very poor. Had to adjust the cover to fit my box which was quite easy although directions did not explain how to, so it took me 4 hours to install!! Lastly it is not fully water proof water gets in my box at the 2 corners closest to the cab. Not worth the money!

I am very pleased with the design of the cover. It was very easy to install and the installation instructions were very user friendly. The construction of the cover is superb and I expect to have a very long use time from it. The hard tri fold is just what I wanted to keep things secure and out of prying eyes yet allowing me to haul larger objects when needed without removing a one peace hard cover. Thanks and yes I have already recommended this to others who have seen it and I know that at least two others have ordered theirs after seeing mine.

2021 GMC Canyon BAKFlip G2

I choose this tonneau cover because of the flush fit it has over the truck bed. It looks very nice. The down side is it does get some water in the bed when it’s closed from the tail gate area. This happens while washing the truck or in heavy downpours. At the front of the bed, the seal strip that’s provided could be a little bit thicker for us guys who don’t have a bed liner yet. When the product arrived and I opened the box, there was aluminum shavings on the cover itself. I had to clean it off before installing it. Over all I do like the bedcover.

Phenominal Cover!

Just finished the install of my new BakFlip on my Ford F150 Super Crew. This is the most amazing cover I have ever seen. The install was a joke it was so easy. Took me about 25 minutes. The packaging was unbelievable. I can't believe they would go through so much trouble and expense to package a product so well. When I opened the box I could see why BAK Industries has such a good reputation for their quality. It truly is over the top and deserves a mention. The cover is very sleek and strong and fits like a glove. I love how it opens and closes and how I don't waste any space in my bed. What a cool product. I would buy this product again if I had the chance. two thumbs up - big time!

Light weight easy installation

installation took less than one hour with a few common tools. the cover is light weight to open, and looks great. I highly recommend this model vs the G4, which I have on another truck.

Minor Install Issues

Overall good construction, beware if you have a drop-in bed-liner though. My liner did not seat against the front of the bed closely and as a result pushed the rails for the backflip aft and created an interference with the tailgate. Had to cut slots in the liner to push it forward enough to eliminate this interference. Overall not a huge deal, but be prepared to modify your plastic liner if you buy this cover. Once again good quality kit, happy with the end result but these installs never seem to go as seamless as promised. Only other thing was the aluminum clamps that interface with your bed require some extra attention and can be seated too deep into the rail. Just make sure that the ridges on the clamp and on the rails seat in the valleys, and not across the ridges.

Best Christmas gift ever!!!

Received this truck cover from my wonderful wife because I didn’t want to spend the money on a cover. Well, if I had known how great this product was, I would have purchased it years ago. It was easy to install and it makes my truck look so much better…looking forward to many years of using this cover.

Not a great fit.

The package didn’t come with any small adjustment pads for the rail and it wouldn’t level up. Lucky I had something that would work for a level rail. Then once installed 2 of the snap clips that hold the liner down won’t snap on the rail.

Decent cover

I really like the looks of the cover on my truck. Although i have noticed it seems like the black is already beginning to chip away in various spots. I had a frustrating time when it came to delivery of the product, recieved without hardware for installation. Had to wait a few extra days for that to arrive. Found one of the seals to be cut. Modified it so i didnt have to deal with returning and reordering process. I like the ease of operation of this cover.

BAKFlip G2 Bedcover for 2026 Chevy 2500

The cover was boxed up very good and arrived with no damage. It was easy to install and very good quality. The last one that I had on a different truck was tri fold and this one is quad fold which allows me to open first panel with one arm without straining my shoulder.

Clamps – not good

Generally, this tonneau cover is sturdy as described and looks great on the truck. However, there must be a better system to attach the rails. The clamps were unwieldy. The directions were difficult to figure out, and I had to take it off and put on two times to get it right. Because it came loose, I generally drive with a bit of a nervous stomach, thinking it’ll pop off at any time.

Bakflip

The Bak Flip needs to be a 1/4 inch wider to ensure all cover flip cover locks engage when closing the cover.

Good, but could be better

Disappointed that when I got it out of the box one of clips for the strap/buckle was completely broken. Protects from water for the most part unless parked at an angle in which case your bed completely gets drenched.

Disappointed

The fit and adjustment of the latches is subpar. The rail ends are not designed well and should engage the rails more to provide secure fitment. The rail ends will be one of those things that be a point of frustration. disappointed.

Could be better

I have bought in the past and installation and fit was good. Bought for my f-250 and had to make some adjustments to rails. Also it has a hard time engaging at tailgate area. Need to force it to close. Hopefully with some wear it will close better.

The finish of the big

The finish of the big flap closest to the cab is much more shiny than the other 2, and it seems to have a slightly different texture as well. It is definitely from a different batch of material, therefore the difference in the finish.

Very nice cover, fairly easy

Very nice cover, fairly easy install, but the rubber sealer strips along the rails at all four corners were just glued one over the other and peeled apart as soon as I installed the cover. Also seemed to somewhat leak through bi-folds during heavy rain, as top of cover from the inside seemed wet. May have just run across from the side not entirely sure.

Do not buy for a Ford Ranger

Great bed cover as a product, but the Ranger specific instructions were hard to follow, not well written, and lacked the necessary level of detail. The workarounds needed to make the bed cover fit and work as intended leave little faith in the stability and longevity of the product. It is as likely to fly off the bed as stay secured. This would have been returned had I not already installed most of it, resulting in visible signs of use. I have a friend with a Colorado, and the bed design is much more suited to this cover than a Ranger. It required no modifications and is a perfect fit.

Not good

Ordered the cover for my 26 Honda Ridgeline. After installation of the rails, the cover does not properly lock into place. Brought the truck to a certified installer and they could not get it to properly lock/fit. Customer service has been slow to respond and keep requesting additional photos. 3 weeks later , they tell me the brackets were not installed properly. I get it if it was just me doing the install, however, the certified installer ripped everything down when I brought it to them. These are the folks they recommend to install their tonneau covers. Regardless, this could be an isolated incident but I still do not have the cover installed. Rather get a refund and move on to a different brand.

False advertising.

Has been on order for over two weeks and not shipped. Have called and chatted and get no information for the delay. My credit card was charged when ordered and will be due soon. I will have to challenge the charge and refuse to pay if not at least shipped. I feel like I have been ripped off by false advertising.

It is to long for

It is to long for the bed. If i put the seal on the front of the bed then the back seal is out over the tailgate. If i line the seal up to the tailgate then the seal is out in front of the bed. IN the corners there is a gag of about 1/2" by 1". The paint is bare in several places on the cover. I bought to be water tight and it is not. would not recommand this to another person. Thanks John

NOT THE ORIGINAL

THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL! I had an original BAKflip and it was great. Got a new Tacoma and bought the E-Z flip and returned it because when folded the cover didn't reach the cab and hung out. So I returned it for the sure thing, the original that I had bought previously. IT IS NOT THE SAME COVER. The panels are different sizes, which changes the hing points, mounting is different and sucks, you have to shim it! This is an example of taking something which isn't broken and ruining it.

Install was way more difficult then expected. Still have leaks and having to use additional double sided tape. When folding up, gets off track and also doesn't lock without force...... Happy with the look, but going to take time to get it dialed in

Not bad but not great

The versatility is great with being able to use entire bed of truck . The fit is not the best , I noticed when washing the truck i do get leaking in all four corners . When shipped to me the arm that holds the cover up in the folded position wasn't attached completely from the factory however the customer service at Bakfip were very good and fast at shipping me not only a whole new set of rails but the updated version with better clips that store the prop rods . Over all for 900 plus dollars expected better but I'm sure I'll be happy with it

Great but...

I purchased this after installing one on a buddies truck a few years ago. I love how low profile this cover is! My only gripe was that mine came with no instructions. You may say "oh just look it up" well yes I did and proceeded to panic because none of the manuals had whatever version I got/ all the videos showed different rails. So to help those that may get the same thing I'm posting pics because I was very confused until I had a brain blast and got the cover installed. Took about an hour by myself and that's with all the panic and swearing lol

It’s okay

Going into purchasing the mx3 I knew it was going to be pretty good at keeping water out and it has. After installing and put in the rain the first night there were a few drip spots and I was fine with it. And the last latch doesn’t really clip on after putting the last panel down. You need to pull the tension wire for it to lock in. Would need to ask for more clamps to possibly not make that issue happen anymore. Other than that it’s a great cover.

Nice Cover But Needs Work

I gave this a 4 because the manufacturer skimps on hardware. Where there should be four screws like on “All Pane Latches” there are only two diagonally. There’s no height adjustment for the rails, and when fully opened against the back of cab, the bumpers should be mounted on the cab. Otherwise if driven in that configuration it will scuff and rub the paint on the truck’s cab. The two rear latches need to be modified to prevent being opened with a wire or slim-jim. I’m disappointed that I saw you advertise that no longer have to close tail gate first, but mine has to be done as the old production. Other than those minor shortcomings it’s a nice functional idea and product.
