  • Unlatches as you lift: Grab the extra-large paddle handle with one hand and lift: the EZ-Lift cover unlatches automatically as it rises, with no extra step.
  • Locks the moment it closes: BAK's patented auto-latch locks as the cover closes, and self-unlatching middle panels do away with cable pulls. BAK calls it the most secure MX4 yet and says the paddle handle also makes for a tighter latch.
  • Sealed edge to edge: Advanced edge-to-edge seals and precision-fit clamps keep weather out of the bed. The install sheet's safety notes say the cover is not airtight, so think weather-resistant, not sealed.
  • Multi-layer aluminum panels: Premium multi-layer aluminum over a high-density core, with a textured matte black finish on every surface. The closed cover is rated at 400 lb, evenly distributed.
  • Folds to the cab, drive open: Fold it to the cab, secure it and drive with the full bed open, with no need to remove it for big loads. BAK says it is the only hard fold that doesn't block the 3rd brake light in any position.

For the install, its rails bolt through the factory clip holes with Torx screws, so there is no drilling; BAK rates it at 30 minutes or less. BAK's own brands list the box at 60". Not for: other bed lengths; the 5'1" bed is the only Ranger bed BAK lists for the BAKFlip MX4 EZ-Lift on 2026-2027 trucks. 2024-2025 trucks with the same bed take BAKFlip MX4 EZ-Lift 450342.

Will this fit my 2026-2027 Ranger?

Yes, if it has the 5'1" bed. Measured along the floor, that box is about 60". Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate. If you are unsure, send us your VIN and we will confirm.

My truck is right at a model-year change. Which one do I need?

This part covers the 2026-2027 Ford Ranger / Ranger Raptor. 2024-2025 trucks with the same bed take BAKFlip MX4 EZ-Lift 450342. Go by your truck's model year, or send us your VIN.

How is the EZ-Lift different from the standard MX4?

The EZ-Lift adds a spring lift-assist (BAK puts the lift force at 10.5 lb against nearly 30 lb for heavier covers), an extra-large paddle handle that unlatches the cover as you lift, and self-unlatching middle panels with no cable pulls. It keeps the MX4's multi-layer aluminum panels, edge-to-edge seals, 400 lb rating and 5-year warranty, which for the EZ-Lift is issued by BAK.

Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?

It is built to: edge-to-edge seals and precision-fit clamps close the gap to the bed rails, and drain tubes carry off water that reaches the rails. The install sheet says the cover is not airtight, so plan on weather-resistant rather than sealed.

How much weight can it hold?

BAK rates the closed cover at 400 lb, evenly distributed. BAK's sheet also says not to drive with objects on top of the cover or tie cargo to it.

Can I drive with it folded open?

Yes. Fold it toward the cab, clip the buckles into the buckle ends at the bulkhead and pull the straps snug, and you can drive with the bed open.

Here's the short version. Follow BAK's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact clamp positions and settings.

  1. Seal the bulkhead. Clean the top of the bulkhead and stick the bulkhead seal across it, then fit the drain tubes to the cab end of the side rails.
  2. Remove the factory clips. On each side, pry out three of the four factory plastic clips, center first and then the whole clip.
  3. Bolt the rails down. Fit three clamps to each side rail, cab end pushed against the bulkhead, and line them up with the clip holes. Fit a Torx screw through a washer and the clamp into the rail and sheet metal and a nut behind the sheet metal. Starting at the front clamp with the rail pushed forward and square, press down on the rail and tighten each screw with a T-30 Torx bit to 8 ft-lb (11 Nm), holding the nut with a 1/2" wrench; then the middle and rear clamps.
  4. Prep the cover. Slide the two cover retainer clamps into the track under the cab end of the cover. Stick a gasket under each buckle end and screw the buckle ends into the pre-drilled holes on the front header panel; if your kit has wedge stops, fit them the same way with their gaskets. Hand-tighten only.
  5. Set the cover and engage the lift springs. Lay the folded cover on the side rails at the cab end, centered, and turn the retainer clamps clockwise until the lock washer is snug. Clean the cab end of the cover, then stick the bumpers evenly along its top edge where it meets the cab. Pull the pin wherever there is a spring to engage the EZ-Lift system; if it doesn't catch at first, fold the cover down and back up a few times.
  6. Unfold, adjust and check. Unfold the cover toward the tailgate and center each panel side to side and front to back, with the rear edge and tailgate seal resting on top of the tailgate. Release each latch to check it engages the rails (the sheet shows how to adjust a slam latch), then re-tighten the retainer clamps. After that, check now and then that the clamps and retainer clamps stay tight, as the sheet's care section asks.

Great fit and look

This is my 4th BakFlip I have had. I installed this on my 2026 Jeep Gladiator and looks and fits great. By far this was the easiest quickest install I have done. Wish I could post a pic to show.
