BAKFlip MX4 cover.
Nice fit. So far so good. Installation was easy. Happy with my purchase.

Fits the same truck
Folds to the cab, drive open
BAKFlip MX4 448135 fits the 2019-2027 GMC Sierra 1500 with the CarbonPro bed, 5'8" bed. Fold it against the cab and strap it down to drive with the bed open; BAK notes the 3rd brake light stays visible in every position. On this truck this version bolts into U-nuts behind the bed caps, which means drilling small holes in the plastic caps and two drain holes in the liner, and BAK puts the install at 30 minutes or less. BAK calls the MX4 America's best-selling truck bed cover, and the Gen 3 version adds re-engineered locks and a longer dual-action tailgate seal. Re-engineered prop rod clips hold it upright against the cab, and rubber bumpers protect the cab paint. Trucks without the CarbonPro bed take BAKFlip MX4 448130 instead. BAK backs it with a 5-year limited warranty.
| Years | Model | Bed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2019 | Sierra 1500 | 5'8" | New Body, w/ CarbonPro Bed |
| 2020-2027 | Sierra 1500 | 5'8" | w/ CarbonPro Bed |
Check your bed: measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate. This part is for the 5'8" bed on the 2019-2027 GMC Sierra 1500 with the CarbonPro bed. BAK's own brands list this box at 69.3" to 69.9" long, depending on the generation. Fit notes from BAK: with the CarbonPro bed (2019-2027 GMC Sierra 1500).
Not for: the 8' bed (BAKFlip MX4 448132), the 6'6" bed (BAKFlip MX4 448131), trucks without the CarbonPro bed (BAKFlip MX4 448130). 2014-2018 trucks with the same bed take BAKFlip MX4 448120. The 2019 Silverado 1500 LD and Sierra 1500 Limited keep the previous body and are not covered here.
BAK makes hard tonneau covers. BAK bills itself as "America's #1 truck bed cover."
The range splits into BAKFlip hard folding covers (MX4, MX4 EZ-Lift, MX4 TS, G2, F1 and Fibermax) and Revolver hard roll-ups (X2, X4s and X4 TS). The MX4 is the aluminum-panel BAKFlip that BAK calls America's best-selling truck bed cover; the MX4 TS adds T-slot rails and the MX4 EZ-Lift adds a lift-assist system.
Authorized BAK dealer. Prestige Truck is an authorized BAK dealer, so what we sell is new and genuine BAK. BAK's warranty "is nontransferable and applies to the original purchaser of the BAK product only," and BAK requires warranty registration on file or proof of original purchase (a detailed, dated receipt) for warranty service. Your Prestige Truck order receipt is that proof.
Yes, if it has the 5'8" bed. Measured along the floor, that box is about 69.3" to 69.9". Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate, and note it is not for the 8' bed (BAKFlip MX4 448132) or the 6'6" bed (BAKFlip MX4 448131). If you are unsure, send us your VIN and we will confirm.
Then this one is not the right part: BAK lists BAKFlip MX4 448130 for GMC Sierra 1500 trucks without the CarbonPro bed. This page covers the version without that option.
BAK lists stronger panels (high-density polymer cores, 22% stronger than the original MX4), re-engineered lock parts that resist forced entry better than the Gen 2, revised EPDM perimeter seals and tight-fit clamps, a dual-action tailgate seal 13% longer than before, re-engineered prop rod clips, and a click-in design that it says cuts install time by 12%.
It is built to: edge-to-edge seals and tight-fit clamps close the gap to the bed rails, and drain tubes carry off water that reaches the rails. BAK's own install sheet says the cover is not airtight, so plan on weather-resistant rather than sealed. Clear snow and ice off before you open it; that is a warranty condition too.
BAK rates the closed cover at 400 lb, evenly distributed. BAK's sheet also says not to drive with objects on top of the cover or tie cargo to it.
Yes. Fold it toward the cab and attach the straps to the buckles at the bulkhead, pulled snug, and you can drive with the bed open. The cover must be secured at all points while the truck is moving; that is a condition of the warranty.
Here's the short version. Follow BAK's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact clamp positions and settings.

Nice fit. So far so good. Installation was easy. Happy with my purchase.
I previously had a soft rollup cover on my last truck and wanted to try a hard cover. I’m sold! Love the hard cover hands down above the roll up. Installed it myself in about 20 minutes. Great quality. Super looks and Superhuman strength! Those panels look great and are strong as an be! Buy with confidence. Great product and great service!
The Bakflip cover went on as easy as the instructions made it sound. No cutting or drilling and everything went together easily and accurately. Looks great on the truck and now the bed can be secured.
BakFlip MX4 Tonneau
It's simply AMAZING, fit and looks like a Honda factory hardcover
The cover looks very nice and slick, it’s easy to set up although the video confused me a little bit but other than that, it’s a very good product. I drove with it from NC to TX, it rain a couple of times and all I can say for sure is that everything stayed dry
In the past I’ve settled for slightly cheaper options and I’m happy I didn’t this time.
Good quality item
Latch broke in less than a month How do I get support? I have pictures of the latch which pulled out of the cover
It went on pretty easy and did it myself in 45 minutes but i was just getting over covid! clips don't stay on very well to hold brace to rail. but i think it looks great!! and things stay dry after i made one adjustment.. love it
Was super easy to install, is mostly water proof and gives me access to most of my bed. Wry sleek design, only sits a fraction above the bed of the truck. Definitely a good purchase.
The cover was easy to install and looks great on the truck. It is heavier than I expected. I would recommend it to others.
For a non-handy person, this was easy to install. Only issue was the drainage tubes which were a bit more difficult to understand (but could have been due to my truck). A little pricey but so glad I went with hard cover that can also flip up to get full access to the bed.
Cover is easy to install with two people and took less than one hour. It has a low profile and great Matt finish.
one of the back hooks won't click to lock the tunnel down. it might be a quick fix, just haven't had time to look at it. But over all what a great tunnel cover 10's all the way
I’d researched covers for a while and selected the BakFlip after actually seeing one on a truck similar to mine. Shipping was quick, installation as advertised and one small issue of a lost screw was quickly resolved by Customer Support with a short phone call. I’m very happy!
Good product Good quality Looks good Price to high
Fit perfect, the issue I have is when you are folding and keep open the cover, the air kick back the cover, it is not strong enough to hold, should be better quality for the price I pay, looks good but I was disappointed that did not function as needs to be.
Cover is great and easy to install. Customer service was really great as well!
I really like it and it was so easy to put it on . It is really well made brand .
Definitely a most welcome upgrade. So easy to handle as opposed to a hard one piece cover. Does the job it was designed for.
Fit well and easy to install
Looks nice. Performs well so far. Easy install.
I like the cover. It was very easy to install.
I love the look of this cover, can barely even notice. It keeps bed about 95% dry. I think the forward seal towards cab could be a little better. Other than that I love it
Great look
Lov it an fast shipping
I read a lot of reviews on this and other covers before purchasing this one. I was not disappointing! This cover is rugged, secures nicely to the truck and keeps the water out and everything inside nice and dry, and best of all, being able to close the tailgate with the cover latched in place. Easy to install...took me about 45 minutes by myself.
Looks great. Instructions on the box were generic and called for parts that were not in the box. Was easy to figure out for installing though.
The cover looks beautiful. Install was easy. But near the front of the bed on the right side water has a consistent drip during a med-high rain. If I was to know this leaked this much I would have bought a cheaper alternative. This review does not allow for media but I would post if I could.
easy install, looks great. could not get the tape on the right place close to th cabin, it also half fell off, the glue is pretty bad on that tape. the rest of the product is fantastic, looks awesome, works great and keep everything dry and protected.
The railing clamps were especially tight. That’s good. The directions did not show how to remove the plastic end caps so that the clamps could be slid into place. Not good. 30+ minutes on the phone with customer service got me a picture of how to slide in the clamps. I suggest this picture be included in the installation materials.
The BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover is a great cover. It installed very easily and fits perfectly. It keeps the truck bed and it's contents dry. We've made several 2000 mile round trips on the interstate without any issues. It's easy to use and it looks great, too. I highly recommend the BALFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover.
Fits and works well. Need to adjust accordingly in order to miss the rear camera on top of the back window when folding all the way up but it can be done. Otherwise easy to install and has been working well.
The installation was a bit tricky because the instructions weren’t clear. We had problems with the attachment to the railing. As it wasn’t fitting where we had it . We removed the end cap at the front side railing then we were able to fit it properly . I have enclosed a picture of that for your viewing . I hope this is done correctly . But I love the cover . Everything is working out . It took us two an have hours to install
High quality Tonneau cover. Would purchase again.
Super easy to install. Super easy to use. Feels like it’s really good quality material and looks….super cool.
This is my second BAKFlip mx4 cover and the fit and finish is great. My first cover is still in use and is over 5 years old and still doing a great job of keeping the truck bed dry and contented safe.
Fits like a glove with a nice low profile look.
This is my third BAKFlip Tonneau Cover and love it. Super easy to install, it took me 20 minutes to put the new rails and the cover on. Really looks great too.
Looks good and is super clean and dry.
I had an MX 2 installed on my 2017 Tacoma in January 2017. When I recently bought a 2023 Tacoma I wanted the BakFlip for it. The MX 2 is so much easier to install and it aligns with no issues. I had to keep adjusting the rails to improve the fit. The right side of the cover did not close all the way; there was a 1/4 inch gap. Part of the problem was the rubber seal improperly installed at the factory. I managed to peel it back and adjust it as it should have been.
So far has done almost all I would expect. Stays dry when closed up, and when folded up is out of the way to use the bed. Have only had this a few weeks at this point. Relatively easy to install, had to drill out for drains, which the vendor could have provided nipples for the hose to drain holes in bed.
Well made and durable. Keeps most of the water out even from a high pressure car wash.
The MX4 works great. Fits great. I do get a very small amount of water intrusion but only going through the car was with very high pressure rinse that hits from many angles. The only knock I have is the manufacturer could do some clean up prior to shipping. Everywhere they drilled holes is full of aluminum chips on the cover. I am a manufacturer director and spent my career in machine shops. Annoying. They are sharp enough to cut or puncture if you done know how to handle shavings. Lazy manufacturing IMO. Lastly, the pull cables are a little slack on mine. Haven’t tried to adjust it yet.
4 inch long rubber bumpers that the cover edge sits on while fully open, not affixed very well. They were low quality adhesive. Cleaned off and used 3M trim double sided tape to fix. Stuck well now. Was disappointed to to see latches were plastic. Overall, product will work.
The cover looks great but there are tradeoffs over a hard cover. I do like being able to access the entire bed easily. The front seal needed extra work due to a spray on liner but it still let's in a little water especially from automatic car washes and very strong storms. My biggest gripe is that 2 screws holding the latch mechanisms were stripped. I only found them because most of the screws were loose and had to be tightened. And no, I didn't strip them. I really wanted to like this cover but in the future I'll try something different.
Honestly happy with the product but just not as robust or solid feeling as I’d hoped. Two small issues are that it’s slightly out of square and the track rail system isn’t as solid as advertised.
This cover is very well layed out and was very simple to install. Recommend this for anyone wanting to help keep their truck bed covered and items protected. All folds have locking latches and the panels are very sturdy. 5 stars+ Jim Hise
Cover seems ok. Was able to get it installed even though there were NO INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS included. Hence the 4 stars.
Everything was great, but the box was beat up a little. Upon opening the box, there was a small dent on the inner portion of the cover. Not big enough to return, just big enough to notice.
Excellent product. Easy install. My boyfriend loves it.
I’ve been wanting the BakFlip MX4 for my 17 F150 for a while and I finally broke down and bought one. It’s everything I thought it’d be. It’s has great quality, durable and can easily be installed within a couple hours by yourself, but an extra set of hands doesn’t hurt.
First, watched the online video instructions for my year mode and make prior to starting. Small item, but 1/8" shims shown in the video were not included with my purchase. Second, both rubber bumpers that support the cover when in the folded position became unattached after 6 weeks without ever having the cover in the folded position. Third, both struts that are used to lock the cover in the folded open position are constantly vibrated from their holders and then hang down getting entangled in what ever cargo is being carried. Just a matter of time before they are broken off.
Packaged well, shipped fast, correct fit. Everything you need in a tonneau.
Searched for about 6 months to find the tonneau cover. I really wanted the security of a hard top without sticking above the bed rails it checked those boxes. I also did not want to drill my truck bed. The install was super simple my wife and I had it on the truck in about a half an hour.
It installed easily, look great, and functions good.
This is my third truck to install bak flip tri fold hard cover. Each one was improved and better than the last. My only issue was a wrong part was packed with mine so I had to call customer service to ship out the correct part. I think I have had this issue on the last two covers. Issue was always resolved in a professional and professional way but it is just an added cost to you and an extra step for the customer. You dont expect this from this price point.
Replaced a soft cover with this. So far its been great. Gear is secure. Easy install.
I've had mine for 6 months now. I installed it myself in under an hour, it looks great and performs as advertised. Sturdy, secure, and looks great.
I have purchased the BAKFlip MX-4 for 2 prior pickups and have been very pleased with the appearance, fit, materials, and workmanship. Thank you.
First box came without hardware. Second box came with everything but was not straight with one side being longer than the other. They kept asking me for pictures and measurements till I had enough and sent it back for a full refund. Will never buy anything from them again. The funny thing is ,this is the second time they asked me to do a review on their junk.
The Ford Maverick factory options are fine but the BAKFlip is heavier duty. The installation was easy and took an hour but I have installed one on my F350 previously. It may take a little longer for someone with no experience installing a bed cover. Instruction are easy to follow. The BAKFlip is popular so there are excellent videos of step by step instruction online. An advantage of the BAKFlip is it is more secure than a regular cover. It’s going to be hard for someone to break into my bed and steal anything.
Love the new design. Light weight and excellent quality and design. Easy to install with minimal tool required and the looks are amazing. Super sleek.
Perfect fit. It’s nice to know that if I have things in the bed of my truck that they are safe and secure.
The first backflip we received had a divet in the panel. They sent us a new panel that had the corner cover damaged and the screw pulled out. It was for a Long bed truck and it didn’t come with full length solid rails we had to add the extra 2’ which wasn’t easy and was annoying. Since we have been using it for over a month, 4-5 of the protective foam pieces have come loose and fallen off and we have tried to put some back on but they keep falling off. Overall this seems like a very low quality truck bed cover with components that can’t hold up to hardly any use or the outdoor elements. Very disappointed in this product.
Tonneau cover looks great and was very easy to install. It’s very easy to fold open and gives full access to the whole bed.
This BAKFlip is the best cover Ive had on any of my trucks by far. Easily installed and gives the truck a nice clean look. Dont hesitate buy one today!
I’m very pleased with the fit, finish and ease of installation. A couple of pieces were damaged in shipping and customer service replaced them quickly. The only improvement that I can suggest is a heavier duty box to ship it in.
Got the cover quickly. Install was pretty easy but I did read and watch videos before install. My 11 year old grandson, he did most of the work inside the truck bed, and my son assisted. So you know it was a straight forward install. Love the topper.
Excellent product. Great customer service. Easy to install.
Very easy install. Fits great and looks good also.
Was initially impressed with the bed cover. Appearance is great, installation was easy. But after a rain, water pools in the middle of the cover and begins to leak in the middle of the bed. Ive had numerous bed covers (roll up/soft trifold/hard trifold) and they all leak and I understand that it is unavoidable. However, other bed covers have leaked towards the cab or at the tailgate. This one leaks right in the middle of the bed. For the price I cannot and would not recommend this cover to friends/family.
Great tonneau cover for the money.
Easy installation and very versatile tri-folding Tonneau Cover. Removes easily. Aesthetically appealing. Highly recommend.
Great product that I nearly installed all by myself. Had to ask my wife to push down on the lid to secure the bolts. Other than that this was easy to install and works great. Minimal water crept in during the last rain. You might pay a little more but why not have the best.
Excellent customer service and easy on line ordering. Packaged well and received with no damage. Easy install. Very pleased with look.
I like the cover especially because it's a hard top. There still is leakage and some parts, like the seal, seem to be fragile. Mines popped off. I have to move it a little to make it lock. If I have to use my whole truck bed, it covers my whole back window. I do like the steak flush look. I like that it easily opens with the pull down. I also like the fact you can close it with the truck bed door open or closed. Overall I like it, but for the price, definitely wish there were some things that were better.
the cover added nice look to my chevy truck
In 2015, I bought my first BakFlip and transferred it to my second Ram 1500. Here in 2026, I bought my third Ram and decided to get the new BakFlip design and am glad I did. Very easy to install and it took me less than 30 minutes. I love the finished look - like it's from the Ram factory. I like that the folded panels are really secured in place when driving and won't get whipped in the wind plus it leaves room for maximum cargo space. The upgraded cable system for latching and unlatching is another big plus. They really designed a great product and I recommend it over all the others out there. . . well worth the money!
While the cover looks good the quality of parts were defective. I had to call for replacement and repair parts twice. The cable to release the lip broke due to poor workmanship. I had to replace the latch myself after only 2 weeks. This is way overpriced for having to fix it myself.
My wife had one of these on her 2010 nissan titan and it was perfect in every way. So when we bought a newer truck (2015 ram 2500) we wanted to get the same cover. Tonneau was shipped quickly, was packed well and had easy instructions. The fitment is perfect and the overall utility is great. I espec6like how it acts as a headache rack when fully up and out of the way. I've had this item for a year now and have had it opened and closed around 30-40 times. The wire for the section closest to the tailgate broke. Inside the latches the wire is looped and crimped on and it slid out of the crimps. So I had to buy new cable and fix it. Works like a charm now. I will say the other stock cables work well and have not broken. Other issue is the clips that hold the seal into the side of the tonneau keep popping out. They pop back in easily but it's definitely annoying and causes the seal to…
I have this cover on a 2021 F250. I work in the construction industry and need to open it often. The corner pieces have fallen off and the coating doesn't hold up to medium use. The seal leak in various places. If this is something you rely on, I would consider other brands.
I love the low profile look of the cover but it leaks in the corners by the cab. I even purchased some silicone putty to fill in the gaps between the bed and the cover, but it still leaks.
I am happy with the product. It works well. My goal was to purchase a more heavy-duty cover, but currently it is not made for the 2026 GMC Sierra AT4 EV. If that ever changes please contact me as I most likely will be interested.
Second fold from rear window needs a latch set. The joint raises and lowers after your speed reaches 70 mph and above. This can lead to water leaks at the joint. Contacted company, but would not fix problem or refund money. They said this is normal function of the cover. This problem is caused by the design of the aerodynamics of the truck with the Cab Air Deflectors. This is different from all other Chevy Trucks.
For the price I paid, I wouldnt buy this cover again. The biggest issue is with the long-bed rails. They come in two pieces, but only include three mounting clips. Because of this, its very difficult to get the rails properly aligned during installation, and they never seem to line up quite right. The adhesive rubber bumpers have already started coming loose after being exposed to warm weather. Lastly, the cover gets extremely hot in direct sunlight. It becomes uncomfortable to touch and makes it painful to open when needed. Overall, Im disappointed. For what this cover costs, I expected better quality and a better-designed product. Now that its installed, I feel stuck with something Im not satisfied with.
This cover works perfectly for me and seems to be made very well, the install was very simple after watching the video.
Overall I am pretty happy with the MX4 cover. There were a few quality control issues I think with the cover, one of the end caps on the mid bar was not attached and was a bear to get reattached. One of the corner pieces is a little loose and doesn't seem to have the proper fit. But overall, was happy with the sturdiness of it, the ease of installation and the functionality. So far I have tested it in the car wash and through a couple good rains, and there is only two small leaks, at the front of the bed, between the bedliner and cover, I put a little foam strip in there to seal it up, it is mostly leak proof now, but a little bit of water will get into the bed at the front two corners. Other than those two spots, no leaks anywhere else.
With the longer bed this cover doesn’t allow you to transport with just one fold. Any suggestions. Also, any suggestions on making it less water resistant?
Install was a breeze and love the tonneau itself. Unfortunately the plastic end caps for the rails and the plastic rod holder were broken out of the box. Wish those pieces were as high quality as the rest of the cover.
The cover went on well but once I installed it, I noticed the clip that holds the strap for locking into place in the folded position, was broken off. I found the broken piece in the packing material. The only real fix would be to send the whole cover back and I needed it for my truck. I guess I should have looked it over more closely when I removed it from the packing.
This is the least weather proof cover Ive ever owned, on top of that it rattles on any pot hole or bump. The only thing this cover has going for it is the appearance.
The clamps don't seat well against the metal behind the cap rail plastic. So, they can't hold straight when closing the cover. I contacted support and they said to send a picture and over a week later I've gotten nothing back after additional email. Pretty disappointed that something so simple couldn't be resolved quickly. I have put backing material in place until they figure it out so I can at least use it. The tailgate seal was also not seated correctly so I had to take it off and reseat it. For such an expensive product they really aren't doing the small parts well.
Love everything about the cover except that it’s too short. It barely covers the edge of the bed at the front and just touches the tailgate. Seems about two to three inches shorter than it should be so it doesn’t keep the water out at the tailgate and it’s not very secure for theft.
The foam was glued together and bed cover looks worn and half of the parts are missing . Took it to a place for an install and they told me this is definitely a used item. Wasted a whole day!
very difficult to get to fit. RETURNED. Thank you for no hassle.
Product is flimsy. You can see light escaping through the cracks from the outside. Plenty of water gets inside. Side trims are always falling off rail. Always looks dirty or faded. Side stands don’t hold up box correctly.
I am very unhappy with the fit. It does not allow the tail gate of my 2026 Nissan frontier to properly close. I have to position it further forward on the bed to make it work. I would not recommend this cover or the company.
Damaged bed cover and no help from customer servic
I like the appearance and a parent quality of the product, but it would not work on a 25 Nissan frontier the rear latches would not come down enough to latch so I had to return it. customer Service was very helpful and I had no issues so far still waiting on my refund.
It looks unfinished. The rubber molding on the sides creased up were it folds. I gave it some time n the heat to see if it would flatten and it didn’t. The corners by the cab looked unfinished. The installation of the rails was horrible, yes I did it right, and it still didn’t close and lock wo slamming it or lifting on the side rails get it to lock. For the amount of money it cost I expect much better. So I returned mine and went with another brand from another company. And am very happy now. No rubber flap edges. Easy install and locks every time. Yes: the return process was fast and easy, but I’m rating the product.
I’m very disappointed with this product. It leaks at both the front and rear, which defeats the whole purpose of having a bed cover/top in the first place. The instructions were also a major issue. I have a Ram with the RamBox bed, but the instructions provided were for a Chevy 1500. The installation is not the same, and it made the process much more frustrating than it needed to be. Had I known the product would not seal properly and that the correct truck-specific instructions would not be included, I would have chosen a different top. At this point, I honestly wish I could return it.
After making several adjustments to maintain the cover from dismantling, I reached out to customer service but have yet to receive a call.
If you want a cover that does not leak look somewhere else. It has been installed correctly and it's still does not prevent water from entering the bed. . after a good rain the bed as water in it do not keep anything that is valuable in your bed.
First of all, I don’t like to bring bad news, that being said, here it goes. Last year 2022 in may, I received my first MX4, it looked great! I had little trouble with installing it, about 30 mins I’d say. My issue is with the overall durability or thickness the bad cover aluminum, it dents so easily. One hailstorm and it looked like a golf ball. Ugh, that was just having it for a few months. The company was receptive to my concern, and sent me a “fiberglass” one to hopefully correct the issue. The next light hailstorm and it was another golf ball. I’m not sure if they sent me another aluminum one by mistake, or their fiberglass dents vs. cracks? It’s just a lot of money to ruin the look of your otherwise tough looking truck. Sorry Bakflip, you even tried to make it right by sending me another one, and still failed. Makes me feel a little sick.
Looks good, I like that it folds all the way for full bed access. One of the bumpers for when it is fully open blew off. Still leaks water inside. Could probably use to be made a little longer for more coverage over the tail gate. I was expecting better for the money I paid for this thing. I have a cheaper one on a different truck that leaks about the same. I going to try some extra gasket in places and hope for the best.
