BAKFlip MX4 TS Hard Folding Tonneau Cover for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma (5'1" Bed)

Here's the short version. Follow BAK's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact clamp positions and settings.

1. Seal the bulkhead. On 2016-2023 trucks, remove the factory cab header (five fasteners under the rear window) with a T-30 Torx driver, a short 3/8" extension and a ratchet, clean both ends with isopropyl alcohol, stick the foam seals on the header end caps and refit it with the bolts torqued to 7.5 Nm (66.5 in-lb). On 2024 and newer trucks, clean the top of the bulkhead and stick the included bulkhead seal from edge to edge.
2. Fit the adapter rails. Remove the utility-rail end caps, slide three T-nut kits into each utility rail and refit the caps. Bolt each adapter rail to the T-nuts with the kit's bolt, washer and lock washer, push it toward the cab and line the T-nuts up with its holes, then tighten while pressing the rail down.
3. Clamp the side rails and route the drains. Set each side rail on its adapter rail, pushed to the cab, and clamp them together: the back of each clamp goes through the upper slot in the adapter rail (or beside its tabs if it won't fit) and the front onto the side rail. Keep the rails level with the bed cap and tighten to 10 ft-lb with a 1/2" wrench or socket. Fit the drain tubes and run them through a 5/8" hole drilled in the top corner of each wheel well, checking underneath first.
4. Prep the cover. Slide the two cover retainer clamps into the track under the cab end of the cover, one per side. Peel the liner off each gasket, stick it under a buckle end, and screw the two buckle ends into the pre-drilled holes on the front header panel with the screws and nutserts. Hand-tighten only; don't use a screw gun.
5. Set the cover in place. Lay the folded cover on the side rails at the cab end, centered between them, and turn the retainer clamps clockwise until the lock washer is snug. With the cover still folded, clean the spots for the cab bumpers with soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol, let them dry and stick the bumpers along the top edge where the cover meets the cab.
6. Unfold, adjust and check. Unfold the cover toward the tailgate and center every panel side to side and front to back; the rear edge and tailgate seal rest on top of the tailgate with a 1/2" overlap. With a power tailgate, make sure it still works with the cover closed. Release each latch to check it engages the rails (the sheet shows how to adjust a slam latch), then re-tighten the retainer clamps. BAK's warranty asks you to re-check every clamp after your first week of driving. To mount a rack or other accessory, remove the T-slot end plug at the rear of each rail with a 1/8" Allen wrench, slide the accessory in, then refit the plugs and tighten their set screws.
