Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Is this light street legal?

Rigid lists this light with its SAE beam, which the brand describes as street legal and compliant with SAE standards, built for on-road use with controlled light that does not glare oncoming drivers. Mounting height, aim and switching rules still vary by state, so check yours.

What is the difference between D-Series, D-SS and D-XL?

D-Series PRO is Rigid's original square pod. D-SS is a side-shooter that adds light out to the sides for ditch detection, and D-XL is a larger pod with more intensity for trucks and heavy-duty builds.

Which beam should I choose?

Rigid describes spot as a narrow beam for distance, hyperspot as an ultra-focused beam for racing, flood as a moderate spread, driving as a balance of reach and width, and diffused as wide, soft light for work and reversing.

Can I protect the pods from theft?

Rigid sells a D-Series Security Kit, part 40282, that secures surface-mount D-Series hardware. It does not work with flush-mount lights.

How should I clean the lens?

Use mild soap and water or mineral spirits. Rigid's polycarbonate lenses can be damaged by ammonia-based cleaners, so skip glass cleaners and automatic car washes, and rinse road salt off with fresh water. Damage from either is not covered by the warranty.

What does the warranty cover?

Rigid's Limited Lifetime Warranty covers manufacturing defects for the original purchaser with proof of purchase. Commercial, marine and industrial use is limited to 5 years, powder coat and lenses to 1 year, and removing the bezel or otherwise breaking the seal is not covered.
