Roll-N-Lock M-Series XT Retractable Tonneau Cover for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma (6'2" Bed)

A retractable tonneau solves the storage problem by never creating it. The M-Series XT keeps its deck on the truck at all times, drawing it forward through two MaxTrak rails and into a low canister at the front of the bed.

Under the skin the M-Series XT is built the way every M-Series cover is built. Aluminum slats do the structural work, an industrial-grade vinyl top is laid over them, a patented theft-resistant hinge joins one slat to the next, and a torsion-spring drive carries the weight of the deck as it travels. A ratchet mechanism holds the cover at three points along the rails, and the keyed twist latch sits behind a hinged cover that keeps weather out of the cylinder. The canister is 7.25 inches deep, so the bed loses only that much length to the stowed cover.

Part 531M-XT fits the 6'2" long bed on the 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma, and like every Tacoma application in this range it clears neither the factory cargo-management track nor the Trail Edition package. Short-bed trucks use 530M-XT.

Features

MaxTrak T-Slot Rails
Each side rail is a MaxTrak extrusion with a continuous T-slot along the top. Crossbars, tie-down knobs and rack feet bolt straight into the slot at any point along the bed, so accessories anchor to the cover's own structure rather than clamping over the bed lip, and the deck still retracts underneath them.

Locks With Your Tailgate
A tailgate extrusion is built into the rear edge of the cover. Close it, turn the key, and the tailgate cannot be dropped, so the bed is shut by the cover and the tailgate acting as one unit rather than two separate locks.

Three Latching Positions
A patented ratchet-style mechanism catches the deck at three points along its travel. Carrying something taller than the bed walls no longer forces a choice between fully covered and fully open, because you can park the cover partway back and lock it there.

Weatherproof Key Cover
The keyed twist latch sits under a hinged flap that shuts over the key slot. It is a small part that answers a real winter problem: water and snow stay out of the cylinder, so the lock is not frozen solid the morning after a storm.

Drains Through the Rails, Not Onto Your Gear
Hidden seals shed most of the weather, and integrated channels in the side rails collect whatever gets past them. Two drain tubes route that water down through the bed and out under the truck instead of letting it pool on what you are carrying.

Vinyl Over Aluminum Slats
Aluminum slats carry the load and the structure; an industrial-grade vinyl skin is laid over the top. The result keeps the flat, seamless look of a soft cover while the deck underneath stays hard.

Clamps On, No Holes in the Truck
The side tracks clamp to the bed rails with the hardware in the box and the canister sits against the bulkhead. Nothing is drilled into the vehicle. This application's installation sheet has no bedliner cut-and-drill step.

The MaxTrak rails clamp to the bed rails with the supplied hardware and the canister housing sits against the bulkhead at the front of the bed. No holes go into the truck itself.

No bedliner modification. Unlike most applications in the range, the installation sheet for this truck has no liner cut-and-drill step at all: there is nothing to trim and no holes to drill through a drop-in liner before the cover goes on.

Track spacing is the step that decides whether the cover latches: Roll-N-Lock specifies 53-3/16" inside track to track on this platform, and the cargo shield has notches you use as the gauge. Route the drain tubes clear of the cab vents. Roll-N-Lock does not publish an installation time for this cover, so we are not going to quote one.

Warranty, Shipping & Returns

Warranty. Roll-N-Lock covers this product with a three (3) year limited warranty to the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship. The warranty is not transferable, and it expires if the cover is moved to another vehicle or the original vehicle changes owner. Roll-N-Lock states plainly that it does not warrant against water intrusion, including leaks in normal use, so treat this as a water-resistant cover rather than a sealed one.

Three things in the warranty conditions that catch people out. Never spray lubricant into the tracks, silicone or petroleum based especially, because it attracts grit and Roll-N-Lock voids the warranty for it. Clear snow and ice off the cover before you open it. And if the truck is ever towed from the rear, the cover has to come off first. Clean with mild automotive soap and water only, and re-check the clamps after a week of driving.

Free shipping. This cover ships free to the lower 48 states. It travels as an oversized parcel rather than a freight shipment.

Inspect on delivery. The cover arrives in a long, flat carton that takes the knocks before anything inside does. Check the packaging when it arrives, and if you see damage, note it on the delivery paperwork and contact us straight away so we can put it right.
