Sits just above the bed rail

The Lo Pro's side rails mount down inside the bed rather than over the top of the bed rails, so the closed cover finishes only 3/4" above the rail line. That is the whole idea of the model. From a few steps back the truck keeps its own shoulder line and reads as if nothing were fitted, and you still have a vinyl top that releases on one finger and rolls forward to the bulkhead whenever you need the box open.

Leather grain vinyl over aluminum

The top is industrial-grade leather-grain vinyl and the frame beneath it is aluminum in a gloss black powder coat, so the cover looks better from the side of the truck than its price suggests and holds that finish through the seasons. A patented spring tensioner does the work of keeping it flat: soft covers slacken in the cold and draw tight in the heat, and this one takes up the difference on its own, with no turnbuckle to reach for and nothing to set twice a year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Will rain get past the seals into my bed?

Rubber seals shut the gap at the bulkhead and the tailgate, hook-and-loop runs between them along both rails, and in normal weather that is enough. The word waterproof appears nowhere in TruXedo's material and we are not going to add it; the brand's safety notes state that the cover is not airtight and that cargo needs care if it must stay clean and dry. Corners are where owners report trouble, and the cause is nearly always one of two things: rails that are not sitting level front to back, or hook-and-loop that was never pressed home after the last close. Get both right, prep the seal surfaces with alcohol so the adhesive really takes, and reckon on a trace of damp near the tailgate in a hard downpour.

Water pools on top after it rains. Is that normal?

Yes, and TruXedo prints the reason in its own sheet. The bows are made to lie flat instead of arching, which is part of how the closed cover stays low, and flat means standing water after heavy rain. Drive the truck and it runs off. If the pool is deeper than you want to live with, work back along both rails and press the hook-and-loop down properly. Tension across the surface is what leaves the water nowhere to gather.

How low does it actually sit, and will it clear my factory bed rails?

3/4" above the bed rail with the cover closed, and it gets there by mounting its side rails inside the bed instead of over the top of the rails. That is genuinely lower than a conventional soft roll-up, though it is a soft cover and not a flush hard one, which is worth knowing if you are comparing it against a low-profile hard folding cover. Where a truck carries a factory deck-rail or cargo-rail system, whether the Lo Pro works alongside it, needs it, or needs it removed is set out in the fitment notes on that truck's page. Read those before you order rather than after.

Is any drilling involved in fitting it?

Not on any Lo Pro application except one. The rails clamp down inside the bed, nothing is cut, and the whole assembly lifts back out when the truck changes hands. The single exception is the GMC Sierra 1500 ordered with the CarbonPro composite bed, part number 574301, and we would sooner tell you now than have you discover it with the carton open. That bed is capped in plastic. TruXedo puts two drill guides in the box and has you make a 7 mm opening through the cap at every mounting point along both sides. Underneath, the sheet metal already carries a factory thread, so no hole goes into the truck's structure, though the plastic cap is permanently changed. That part's page sets this out under Installation and links the supplemental sheet so you can read it before you commit.

Can I take the cover right off, and does every version come off without tools?

Most do. TruXedo's quick-release system lets you lift the cover out of its rails in moments with no tools, which is what you want for a tall load, and drop it back in afterwards. It is not universal: a small number of trucks cannot take it because of how the bed is shaped, and TruXedo says so in the fitment notes for those parts rather than in small print. If the quick-release system matters to you, check the notes on your truck's page before you order, and check the specifications list on that page, where the removal row is present only if that part has it.

How should I clean it, and what voids the limited lifetime warranty?

Mild automotive soap and water. TruXedo allows a vinyl protectant made specifically for tonneau covers, and rules out anything containing silicone or petroleum. It does not say anywhere in the Lo Pro documentation that the cover may go through an automatic car wash, so wash it by hand rather than assume. On the warranty itself: it is limited lifetime on the rails, clamps and bows and limited lifetime on the fabric, to the first owner, not transferable, and TruXedo asks you to register it. Failing to follow the care instructions voids it, and so does driving with the cover part way open, letting cargo press against the fabric, tying a load to the frame, or towing the truck backwards without the cover rolled open and strapped.
