Description & Fitment

This Sentry CT fits the redesigned 2019-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5'10" box (69.9"), the short bed GM calls 5'8". It works with or without the MultiPro or Multi-Flex tailgate, but not with the Sierra's CarbonPro bed or the factory side storage boxes. Under the RTxTechWeave canvas is a row of interlocking aluminum slats, which makes it a hard roll-up you can still roll right up to the cab. Have a tailgate with a key lock? Then locking the tailgate locks the cover. TruXedo rates the closed cover at 400 lb, evenly distributed. It clamps on; no drilling is needed on most trucks. TruXedo backs it with a 5-year warranty.

Check your bed: measure the bed rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate. This cover is for the 69.9" box. GM sells it as the 5'8" short box and TruXedo lists it as 5'10"; it is a different bed from the 2014-2018 truck's 69.3" box.

Not for: the 6'7" box (Sentry CT 1572616), the 8'2" box (1572816), or a Sierra 1500 with the CarbonPro bed (1574316). Not for trucks with the factory side storage boxes. For 2019 it fits the new body only: the 2019 Silverado 1500 LD and Sierra 1500 Limited kept the old body and take 1571816 (confirm with us).

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500?

Yes, if it is the redesigned truck with the 69.9" short box (TruXedo 5'10", GM 5'8") and a steel bed. Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate. About 79" is the 6'7" box (1572616) and about 98" is the 8'2" box (1572816). A Sierra with the CarbonPro bed takes 1574316.

Does it work with the MultiPro tailgate or the CarbonPro bed?

TruXedo lists it as working with or without the MultiPro and Multi-Flex tailgates. It is not compatible with the CarbonPro bed; for a Sierra 1500 with CarbonPro, choose part 1574316. It also will not work with the factory side storage boxes.

What is the difference between the Sentry and the Sentry CT?

Both use the same interlocking aluminum slats, 400 lb rating, locks and latches. The Sentry has a leather-grain vinyl top and a 3-year warranty. The Sentry CT has the RTxTechWeave canvas and a 5-year warranty on the hard parts and the fabric.

Will it keep rain and snow out of the bed?

It is built to. The canvas is one continuous panel with no seams, and flush-fitting side seals close the gap to the bed rails. TruXedo calls it the most leakproof design of any folding, roll-up or retractable cover. Like every tonneau cover it is weather-resistant rather than airtight. Clear snow and ice off before you roll it open.

How much weight can I put on top of it?

400 lb, spread evenly across the closed cover with the latches engaged. That is TruXedo's rating.

Can I drive with it rolled open?

Yes. Roll it all the way to the cab and fasten both retainer straps, and you can drive with the full bed open. Never drive with it partly open; that is one of the conditions of TruXedo's warranty.

Here's the short version. Follow TruXedo's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact clamp positions.

  1. Clean and prep. Make sure the tops of both bed rails are clean and free of debris.
  2. Set the side rails. Place each rail on top of the bed rail, centered between the cab and tailgate, and press it down until the foam strip is compressed about halfway, so the rail sits level. Line up the two rails' attachment holes across from each other so the cover sits square.
  3. Clamp them down. Fit three clamps per side, starting in the middle, evenly spaced and about 8" in from each end. Finger-tighten so the teeth bite, then tighten with a 1/2" socket to 8 ft-lb (11 Nm). If your truck has factory bed caps, now fit the bulkhead seal: clean that spot with soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, stick the seal from rail to rail tight against the rail end plugs, and trim the excess.
  4. Attach the cover. Set the rolled cover on the rails at the cab end and slide the left and right header guides into the locked position until they click.
  5. Unroll and latch. Roll the cover to the tailgate and press down on both rear corners until the latches click. Press the hook-and-loop strips down along both sides before you drive. Leave it closed for 24 hours so the fabric sets.
  6. Check the clamps after a week. Re-check them after your first week of driving and now and then after that. TruXedo requires this to keep the warranty valid.

The installation was very straightforward with just a few clamps on each side of the bed. The cover is low profile and looks good on the truck. I had to remove the foam pads in order to get the tailgate to close. I havent noticed any water leaking in yet. Having a soft rollup cover with metal slats underneath is the best of both worlds. The only thing I dont like is the release string.

Good for snow load

Very easy install after watching video. Despite being aluminum there is no rattling. Being up north I like the 400 lb snow load rating. Looks really nice, too. It can get really hot in the sun due to the black surface and aluminum underneath, but is only noticeable on the hands when rolling open. There were quite a few aluminum chips stuck on the canvas that I had to clean off. Overall I am pleased.

Awesome Cover

Hard to beat and great look on the Gladiator.

This is my 2nd Truxedo CT hard roll up cover. It fits great, very tight and flat with canvas fabric over aluminum slats. I had one on my Raptor for 3 yrs and it looked as good as new when I sold the truck. Installation was more involved than the one for the Ford but if you are somewhat handy not too bad. You will need a tap set (metric) and a reamer/drill bit if you have a spray-in liner.

I've had Truxedo Lo-Pro soft roll-up covers on previous trucks - great quality and price point. This time around, wanted more secure bed storage, because there's not a lot of lockable space in a regular cab truck with an 8 foot bed, so went for Sentry CT, also because here in New England snow accumulates on the cover, so aluminum slats don't sag like the soft cover might. On delivery I thought this thing weighs a lot! Well it's quality. Simple install, no-drill no-cut install. CT fabric is really nice, like the different between vinyl vs. twill on the Jeep soft tops. Installed, the cover is absolutely tight and very low and flat. It looks fantastic. No regrets about spending twice what I did on the Lo-Pros in the past. My 3rd CT Tonneau Cover

This is my 3rd CT tonneau roll-up cover. The first came on a used GMC Sierra. I liked it so much that the last two new trucks I purchased, a Silverado and GMC Sierra, I purchased a new cover for each of them. I like that they can be rolled up to open almost the entire bed of the truck, the canvas weave is so tight it never leaks water and it’s extremely ridged.

Overpriced and not recommended

I had to install the left side rail further back for the latches on the cover to hit evenly. There are bubbles in the material you can see when closed. And the worst part is all the small metal shavings that fall out onto the top of the cover every time you roll it open. Might as well carry your shop vac with you. Definitely would not buy again or even recommend to any tone. Not impressed.

Good quality. Easy to use. Installation took a while but the instructions were clear and understandable. Just one issue. Included was a small amount of butyl to seal two small holes in the front bulkhead of the bed. But nothing was provided for the other two 12 millimeter holes. My guess is that Ford Motor Company made a modification to the trucks bed after truxedo's original design.

Looks Great but fit is a little suspect

2019 Ridgeline- was a struggle to get the rails to the right tolerance so the roll top would stay in the rails and latch. Took about 3 attempts to get it to latch at the back. Velcro will attach but just barely. Strips on the roll top are wider than the strips on the rails.

Fit and finish is fantastic

Fit and finish is fantastic! If you are looking for the flush look with added security, this is the cover for you. I was able to install this by myself in about an hour. If I was to install another, I could probably do it in less than 30 minutes. Having a help would be helpful when installing the rails because they must be flush with the top of the bed. At the same time, compressing the foam on the rail at the header to ensure the rail is flush with the end of the bed allowing the tailgate to close. Another tricky part is when it comes time to install the cover on the track rails. Luckily, I read the troubleshooting portion of the directions otherwise I may still be in my garage trying to figure this out. Once you get one top corner in the rail, you must then lay underneath the cover and put up on the rail to lock it in place. The other side of the cover will appear as though it will…

A very decent tonneau

It has taken me more than half an hour to install, but someone more experienced would certainly be faster. This is a good looking tonneau and it's so much easier to open and close than a trifold. If it lets rain water in - sometimes, not always, right behind the cab. Maybe even this can be rectified with some watertight band. This is still a far better tonneau compared to the BAK trifold I previously had in terms of watertightness.

Very happy with this cover

This tonneau cover was simple to install and fit my truck perfectly - 2024 Chevy 2500, 6’9” bed. It is solid, easy to roll up, and is very durable. The low profile looks great. I had the soft roll up version on my last truck and opted for the hard roll up this time. The canvas top is what sold me (again), it doesn’t crack or get sun damage like vinyl. The roll isn't too obstructive, but is significantly larger than the soft roll ups. It is not 100% waterproof. There is some minor leaking at the tailgate, as expected. Overall, it does a great job keeping everything in the bed protected. Also, shipping was super quick!

Not recommended

We bought this as a recommendation from our salesman at Gmc when we bought our new truck. We have a GMC Sierra 1500 Denali ultimate diesel. It has a carbon pro bedliner. Directions were horrible and they had to send us two different sets of rails. My husband builds cars and motorcycles, putting this bed cover on was near impossible to get it to fit properly. It is now installed on the truck, but whenever you roll it up the cover wants to come disengage from the rails. I would never purchase this again.

Great cover

This cover is awesome. An underrated aspect of it is that it can be completely and easily removed without tools if needed. The fabric top layer looks great with all of the mat black accents on trucks these days. It seals up very tight. Goes through the car wash and no water gets in the bed.

My only concern is the

My only concern is the string strength to pull it open. It may not last very long - others than that it’s a great product, it looks very nice the twill fabric does it for me. It gets really hot !!

Good fit, decent cover

Install on this cover was super easy and straight forward. I like the option to fully remove the roll up cover if you needed that little extra room for large objects in the bed. It seems decently made and should hold up well. Couple things I do not like are the gaskets. The one that is attached to the cover that goes over the bulk head hasn’t settled at all. The way it was packaged they wrapped the cover in a plastic film which made the gasket flap stuck up right. I had a week granted it’s been in the 40s and 60s the past week so maybe if it gets warmer it will settle. If not I’ll break out the heat gun if that doesn’t work then it kinda defeats the purpose of this cover because it won’t be water tight. They also sent the wrong size bulk head gasket which they sent me the correct one the next day which was good. See over the next few weeks what happens but the overall fit was good

Easy Install, Great Weather Resistance, Looks Great

I took my time in below zero temps to do a clean installation. It went pretty easy. The hardest part was the heaviness of the rolled cover. But with two people it's a piece of cake. Now that the cover is installed, it sits flush. I see the water bead up and run off. The ice and snow melts off fast. The only hang ups I'd note is that an ice storm made it difficult to get the tailgate to open because the cover was iced to the tailgate. But that's more of an ice problem than the cover's fault. And I did not weather seal the tailgate end. So when driving on snowy roads the snow will make its way in and create tiny snow drifts at the end of the bed. In heavy rains or a car wash, I've seen maybe a half a cup of water intrude. Seriously, it's nothing to worry about. The cover is tough. It can take a lot of weight. I have not tried to tie down anything on top yet but it is rigid and keeps a…

Survived the snow

My dad installed this on his Tacoma for a Big Bear trip. We got 5 inches of snow overnight and the bed was completely dry when we packed up. I bought a 23 Tacoma and am now getting this for my truck as well. Quality looks great and he has been extremely happy with it.

FITS "PRETTY GOOD"

Looks great on the truck but the fit is not as good as it should be. The RH side is longer than the LH side and does not mate to the velcro on the rail as it should. Pics attached. I thought I was buying a premium product and got something less. I am told by customer service there can be variations per truck. I thought I was buying something made specifically for my truck. Also, the install was somewhat challenging. Took several tries to get it right. If was buying today, I would buy a different product.

Great tonneau

This is my second TruXedo Sentry CT Tonneau Cover. Both are easy to install and use. Bed stays dry and the fabric still looks brand new on the one that is a year old. I would definitely recommend this. I replaced two Bacflip tonneau covers with these. The Bacflips were a complete disappointment.

a buzz i don't need

bought the truxedo sentry tonneau for my wife's new GMC; it was about the only game in town, as the market for the newer pickups was pretty slim. i liked the "theftproof" aspect, and it looks great. installed it myself and the fit was excellent. my major problem with it is that it vibrates at speed and sounds like a monster bumble bee is after me! wish i'd waited and installed the truxport model that i've had on many pickups!

Truxedo Sentry

We purchased and installed this unit on a 2017 F150. Our truck was always garaged. We had a 3 year warranty. Shortly after the warranty expired the top began to separate from the aluminum slats. I discovered that the glued on top was all that holds it together. I tried several times to glue the top back, but it never held. I have now removed the Truxedo and replaced it with another brand. It was good before it started falling apart after 3 years or I would have given only 1 star.

Looks good, but leaks terribly from the front corners

I like the look of this cover and the functionality is great (hard and secure when unrolled and can easily roll up to use the entire bed). However, the pads attached to the front of the bed rails leaves a visible gap between itself and the bed side. Water streams through this gap so I will probably have to caulk it at some point. Between that and the expensive price, I have a hard time rating anything above 3 stars.

Mediocre

Needed two sent out to me. First had one incorrectly sized railing. Cover itself frequently has the rubber caps on the slats pop out of place which have to be pushed back in to lay the cover flat.

Worst cover I have ever owned

There is enough flex in the aluminum and the locking mechanism is so small it will not stay latched going down the road. I have broken pieces within a month of owning it. If you have it rolled up the rubber pieces in the ends will start to fall out while driving.

Leaks

Nice cover. Really like it but it holds water in the middle while parked. Also leaks in the corners. I've tried everything to seal it up. Almost to the point of replacing it.

To hard to install

I still can’t get this cover to fit my truck bed. It looks like it’s 1/4” to wide to fit in the bed rails.

I know it sounds strange I only gave it a IV. It looks awesome & it's easy to install with 2 minor details: The latch cord is difficult to locate at times and I have to unlatch it to close the tailgate.

Latches are too short and require shimming on both sides to get a proper latch. The latches themselves seem flimsy.

nice cover

time and seasonal change have not been experienced yet, so I think it is a bit premature to review. That being said, so far, the cover is excellent! I wish there was a way to seal the top of the tailgate without creating a hassle.

Pretty nice besides locks

I like my new bed cover for the most part, interested to see how it holds up over time. The weak spot feels like the locking mechanisms could be engaged if someone knew what they were looking for. It blends with my truck well, and doesn’t stand out as a hotspot for breaking into even if there is high-dollar equipment in it.

Just get this

Took about an hour to install. Fit and look is above average. Took longer and harder to break down the shipping box to put into recycle bin. Looks great. Just a few things. The center rear cross over is the weakness and will vibrate. Still learning where the release cable is.

It's good but not great

The way it installs on the ram is annoying since it doesn't have a lip that goes on the bed rail. Which makes it a pain to get it set up properly alone.

2021 Sierra 3500hd

Really like the cover. Installation was simple and quick. It looks good. During a hard rain, a little water got in. Not too much. I was impressed. My one minor complaint is the latch mechanism seems a little weak. It latches fine but it feels like it wouldn't take much to force it open.
