- Leather-Grain Vinyl Top: The Sentry is topped with DualShield, TruXedo's industrial-grade vinyl with a leather-grain finish, laid over the slats as a single aluminum-reinforced piece. It gives the cover a clean, tailored look, and it is the main difference between this cover and the canvas-topped Sentry CT.
- Heavy-Duty Aluminum Slats: Under the vinyl, interlocking aluminum slats form a rigid deck that can't be sliced open the way a soft cover can. TruXedo rates it at 400 lb when the weight is spread evenly, and since a roll-up needs no canister, the full length of the bed stays usable.
- Rail Security Latch: Roll the cover shut and a security latch at the center of the rail engages, so the cover can't be lifted at the sides. Up to six latches set themselves as it closes, backed by patented level-2 locks and a tension cable. With a key-locking tailgate, the cover stays locked down until you unlock and drop the gate.
- Rolls Up to the Cab: Drop the tailgate, tug the release cable on either side and roll the cover forward on TruXedo's PrecisionRoll system. Fasten the two built-in straps and you can drive with the bed fully open, and your rear window stays clear.
- Sealed on All Four Sides: The vinyl top is one seamless panel, with flush-fitting seals along the side rails and seals on all four sides, and industrial-grade hook-and-loop strips keep the edges from lifting in the wind. TruXedo claims it seals better than any other folding, roll-up or retractable cover. It is weather-resistant, not airtight.
- Low Profile, Blacked-Out Finish: TruXedo describes the Sentry as an extremely low-profile cover. Its aluminum carries StealthShield, a 360-degree blackout finish, so the hardware looks finished whether the cover is rolled open or closed.

This Sentry is made for the 2014-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 / GMC Sierra 1500 and 2015-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 / GMC Sierra 2500/3500 with the 6'7" bed (78.9"). GM sells that box as its 6'6" standard box. For 2019 it fits only the Silverado 1500 LD (Legacy) and Sierra 1500 Limited, which kept the 2018 body, not the redesigned 2019 trucks. You get a rigid, slat-built cover with a leather-grain vinyl finish that still rolls up to the cab like a soft roll-up. Mounting is a clamp-on job with no drilling on most trucks. Lock a key-lock tailgate and the cover stays secured along with it. It holds 400 lb spread across the closed cover. Both the hard parts and the vinyl top are covered for 3 years.

Will this fit my 2014-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 / GMC Sierra 1500?
Yes, if it has the 6'7" box. Measure along the bed rail from the bulkhead to the inside of the closed tailgate; you should get about 78.9". A 5'9" box takes 1571801 (about 69.3").
Will it fit my 2019 Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500?
Only the 2019 Silverado 1500 LD (Legacy) or Sierra 1500 Limited, which carried over the 2018 body. The redesigned 2019 trucks take a different part, listed under Not for. Send us your VIN if you're unsure which you have.
How is the Sentry different from the Sentry CT?
Underneath they are the same cover: the same interlocking aluminum slats, 400 lb rating, level-2 locks and latches, and the same install sheets. The Sentry has a leather-grain DualShield vinyl top and a 3-year warranty. The Sentry CT swaps in TruXedo's RTxTechWeave canvas and carries 5 years.
Does it keep rain and snow out?
It is built to. The top is one seamless vinyl panel, the side seals sit flush against the bed rails, and there are seals on all four sides. TruXedo claims it seals better than any other folding, roll-up or retractable cover, but TruXedo's install sheet notes the cover is not airtight, so keep anything that must stay bone dry in a sealed container. Brush snow and ice off before you roll it open.
How much weight can it hold?
TruXedo rates the closed, latched cover at 400 lb, as long as the weight is spread evenly across it. The install sheet's safety list adds two rules: don't tie cargo to the cover's frame, and don't drive with anything sitting on top of it.
Can I drive with it rolled open?
Yes, once it is rolled all the way to the cab and both retainer straps are fastened. Never drive with it partly open, and don't stow it rolled against the cab window. Both are conditions of TruXedo's warranty.

Here's the short version. Follow TruXedo's install sheet (below) for your truck's exact clamp positions.
- Clean and prep. Make sure the tops of both bed rails are clean and free of debris.
- Set the side rails. Place each rail on top of the bed rail, centered between the cab and tailgate, and press it down until the foam strip is compressed about halfway, so the rail sits level. Line up the two rails' attachment holes across from each other so the cover sits square.
- Clamp them down. Fit three clamps per side, starting in the middle, evenly spaced and about 8" in from each end. Finger-tighten so the teeth bite, then tighten with a 1/2" socket to 8 ft-lb (11 Nm). If your truck has factory bed caps, now fit the bulkhead seal: clean that spot with soap and water, then isopropyl alcohol, let it dry, stick the seal from rail to rail tight against the rail end plugs, and trim the excess.
- Attach the cover. Set the rolled cover on the rails at the cab end and slide the left and right header guides into the locked position until they click.
- Unroll and latch. Roll the cover to the tailgate and press down on both rear corners until the latches click. Press the hook-and-loop strips down along both sides before you drive. Leave it closed for 24 hours so the fabric sets.
- Check the clamps after a week. Re-check them after your first week of driving and now and then after that. TruXedo requires this to keep the warranty valid.

Exactly what I needed
I was looking for a tonneau cover that would be sturdy, secure and easy to install. A secure tonneau cover
Had a TruxSport roll-up cover on a pickup for 10 years that held up very well (first 5 years the truck sat outside). My pickup had a locking tailgate, but was still concerned that anyone with a knife could gain entry. Liked the roll-up feature vs. folding panels, went with the Sentry. Much more secure.

Best of both worlds.
Pros: This tonneau cover give you the convenience of a soft roll up cover with security more like that of a rigid fold up cover. It’s easy to operate, doesn’t block the rear window when rolled up and does a decent job keeping items in the bed dry. It’s doesn’t completely seal the bed, but the amount of rain that does make its way in is negligible. Cons: Definitely have a helper when installing this cover, especially on a Tacoma. Trying to keep the rails in position while tightening the hardware is a bit tricky. The instructions could have been better, The packaging was robust, but the driver’s side rail managed to rub against the top and had some pretty deep scratches. Overall, I’d recommend the Truxedo Sentry to anybody looking for a tonneau cover for their truck.

This is my 2nd Sentry - had one on my 2019 Canyon but needed to upgrade to larger rig. I didn't even bother looking at alternatives after a ton of research on my initial purchase. Easy install. The cover is very solid/secure but more manageable than a heavy tri-fold. I had a BAK tri-fold on my 1st truck and it was so heavy that it would rattle the clamps loose when dropping the folded sections. The Sentry stays dry and secure.

I went with this top for a few reasons… I didn’t want to block the view out the back window, I wanted the security of metal, and wanted as much access as possible when open. The Sentry fit the bill exactly, and for the right price. I also chose this one over the sentry ct because I thought the vinyl would be easier to keep looking clean. Not sure if I’m correct about that or not, but I’m certainly happy so far with what I’ve got. Item was packaged very well, arrived fast, took me 20-30 minutes to install from the time I opened the box. Love it and hope it lasts a long time!

Truxedo Sentry
This is my second Truxedo Sentry. First one was a replacement for an earlier model that came apart. The vinyl of the Sentry model seems better adhered to the slats than the Titanium. I like the super-low profile, and the security it gives to the cargo area. Note - you will either need some heavy spring clamps or an extra pair of hands to get it installed properly. But overall, that was really simple.

Security and Good Looks
This Sentry Hard Roll-up Cover looks great on my truck. It's easy to operate. It opens smoothly and is easy to roll up and close with only one person. The cover feels very secure when locked down. We've gotten a lot of rain lately so I can't say the cover is completely waterproof, but the amount of leakage is negligible. There's a rubber gasket on the tailgate end of the cover, and in the instructions they state you can either close your tailgate first and then complete closing the cover so that the gasket lays flat on top of your tailgate, or you can close the cover first and allow your tailgate to fold the gasket inside the tailgate as you close it. Never allow the tailgate to close over the gasket if you're expecting rain. I've got the factory deck rail system in my bed and I read that the install could get tricky because of that, so I took advantage of ET's installation service for…

This cover would have been great if it would have fit my 2002 Ram 2500 with a 8’ bed. The cover was not wide enough side to side to cover the bed. The box was several damaged during shipping and all the hardware was lost. I have received a full refund and was provided a return shipping label. The lady in returns did help find the present cover that I have ordered which is the manual retractable cover.

Great cover.
I had a soft canvas cover that I liked because it was low profile. After five years, it started to break down and I had to get a new one. I wanted something more secure, but didn’t want to lose any space in my bed and I didn’t want panels that could possibly block my window. This cover fits beautifully and has a very low profile. 20 Month Review: March 2022 to December 2023
In looking back, I believe I made the right choice with my purchase of the TruXedo Sentry CT Tonneau Cover Part #: TRX-1584916. The ability to roll it back and fasten it wherever i want to was the right choice for me. The security of having the aluminum backing plates also works for me. It was a good choice. The only thing I would change would to a way to make it easier to find the release string and make the install easier. The install was a bit frustrating at times, but I had to deal with it just once. Would I buy it again, Yes! Would I recommend it, Yes! Would I like it to be a bit easier to install, Yes! Easier to find the release string, Yes! Would it be better if it were less expensive, Yes! This was an excellent to very good purchase

Sentry Cover for my New GMC Canyon AT4
This the second Sentry Cover I have installed. The first was on my 2019 GMC Sierra. (Which my son purchased from me.) I knew I wanted the Sentry cover for this truck too. Excellent bed cover
I wanted a cover that was watertight, could be opened all the way without blocking my view of the load, and could provide some security when locked. This cover meets those goals. Installation was easy. The only compromise is that when rolled completely open you can't put anything taller than the depth of the bed up near the cab. I strongly recommend this cover.

My truck has a factory plastic bed liner in it so I had to make a minor adjustment to the weather stripping to get the rails to fit property. Even with the time required to figure out how to properly adjust the rails, it only took me about 2 hours the complete the installation.

My first roll up
Out of all the tonneau covers I've bought and installed this is my least favorite. the tailgate latch and release is very strange and delicate. the left side is hard to snap down. when rolled up it is difficult to tie up. The 300$ soft covers have way less leaking than this does. I wouldn't recommend this.

The only drawback to this cover is the latching mechanism. On the new Silverado with electric tailgate, you have to unlatch the cover when closing the gate. The latch is difficult to find.

This was great, until it wasn't
We got this for our 2007 Silverado a few years back and it was great at first. About three years into it, about the time the warranty ran out, the vinyl cover started to peel off, and some of the rubber links got bent. Most recently, the aluminum sections started to separate, but I was able to get it back together. I just try not to roll it back for now until I can get a different tonneau cover. I feel pretty cheated having spent a grand on this thing to only have it last three years.

Does everything EXCEPT
I love the cover EXCEPT it doesn't roll up as easily as I thought it would. During rain or any wet condition it won't roll round...it flattens out. What can I do?

Exactly What We Wanted !
This is our 2nd TRUXEDO Tonneau cover. Very pleased with the quality of the material and the workmanship. Installed in about an hour. Looks sweet on our new 2021 Ford F-150 Lariat.

Truxedo Sentry
I did a lot of research when looking to buy a tonneau cover. I settled on the Sentry by Truxedo. Very happy with my decision! Easy to install and works great. I live the increased security over a regular roll up cover. I highly recommend and will buy again!

Excellent fit and finish ...
Easy install after watching you-tube video. Use tape measure as tolerances are very tight. Used silicone adhesive/sealant on bulkhead gasket because my bead had a spray-in liner.

Truxedo Hard Roll-Up - Killer Choice
Couldn't be happier with the purchase. Love the ease of use and quality of the Truxedo Sentry. Install was a snap and took about 30-40 min. Roll up is easy and doesn't take up much space at all. Great unit. Way better than other one's I've had. Well worth the money.

Truxedo Sentry Hard Roll-up Bed Cover

I bought this tonneau cover because it has the best of both worlds. It is considered a soft top and provides the security of a hard top. Perfect! I installed it by myself and it was checked by a master tech for proper installation. I did it and it looks great! Thank you!

AT did a great job of shipping and delivery. The cover directions are very clear as well. The actual installation required a little moving and tweaking which is what I expected. The cover looks great on the truck and protects the bed nicely. Overall, it’s a very simple install and definitely adds to the truck’s appearance. One thing did surprise me however. I expected to maybe gain a little in gas mileage due to a cleaner air flow over the truck. Instead, i’ve Lost 1 MPG. It’s not a deal breaker by any means, just not what I expected.

Love It!!
I have had my Truxedo Sentry cover for over 5 years now and it still looks awesome and functions perfectly! It has withstood the Mojave desert 115 plus degree summer heat and our torrential rainstorms. It doesn't leak and keeps all my gear safe. It was super easy to install.

Great Installation Instructions, but I have suggestions
The installation instructions were very good. I can tell the writer went out of his/her way to be clear. I would ask that the orientation of the rail attachment bracket be specified (the long axis goes vertically). Also, specify that the black washers are 1/4" and the steel colored washers are 5/8ths". I could not achieve the side measurements specified for the rails (where the cover sits on top of). I finally loosen all hard ware, and positioned the rolled-up cover onto the rails at the bulkhead (front of bed), passed the nipple of the cover into the holes on the rail and locked it into place with the sliding header guides. Then I made sight adjustments to all the rail hardware making the rails mate with the cover, and in effect used the tonneau as a guide and then tightened all the hardware. There was a lot of metal shavings all throughout the tonneau articulating-underside-surface.

Sharp Looking Cover
Purchased this for my "new" 2019 Ford F150 Lariat. Pretty easy to install. Had to jimmy it a bit to snap it in place once the rails were installed, and then work the cover a little to get it to go straight over the rails the first time and to get the aluminum slats to all fit between the rails. But, once you do that and have it rolled out for a while it settles in and works great! The only thing I would change is the pull string on the back. I'm only 5'2" and can't see the pull when the tailgate is up. I have to feel around for it. Sometimes it's difficult to feel it up there. A 2" metal tube or something around that string/rope would certainly help. I'm going to gerry-rig something. It too a little time to get in the habit of rolling it back just a little to close the tailgate. Fortunately it was not a habit that was difficult to acquire. Beyond that I looks fantastic, is super…

My go to cover
I bought this cover for my 2020 Silverado 2500 standard bed and had a very good experience. So go, in fact, that I bought one for my 2021 Silverado 3500 Long Bed. The looks cannot be beaten, and the solid aluminum slats provide the security I was looking for. My only complaints are that with the rear weatherstripping being as rigid as it is, the cover must be slightly open to close the tailgate easily and without folding the weatherstripping and that with the long bed model, I have an alignment issue I'm still working on that prevents both latches from engaging. Overall, an amazing cover with just a couple small problems, not large enough to prevent me from buying it again!
