Hard-cover security, vinyl price

A slatted aluminum deck beneath leather-grain vinyl gives the bed a true lock and a 400 lb rating without the outlay the canvas version asks. Release the cables and the whole box is available again.

Blacked out, locked down, load rated

StealthShield hardware keeps the cover sitting quietly against the bodywork while a patented level-2 lock and a 400 lb deck do the work underneath, so gear stays secured and out of sight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on specs, fit and support

Should I buy the Sentry or the Sentry CT?

Both sit on the identical hardware. Same slatted aluminum deck, same 400 lb rating when the weight is spread, same patented level-2 lock with its tension cable and self-setting catches. What separates them is the skin and the term. This one wears DualShield vinyl in a leather grain, rides on StealthShield blackout hardware, and is warranted three years. The CT is wrapped in canvas instead, shrugs off scuffing better over a hard life, and doubles the warranty to five. If budget decides it, take this one; if the cover will be scraped against constantly, pay for the canvas.

How well does it seal against rain?

Sealing is the point owners raise more than any other, so here is the unvarnished version. The vinyl runs as one continuous skin across the slats, each rail carries a seal where it meets the bed, and a bulkhead seal is supplied on some applications. Through ordinary weather your cargo stays dry. Under a sustained downpour, or a pressure washer aimed at the tailgate, some water will work its way past, and that holds for every roll-up on the market whatever the badge on it. TruXedo advertises no impermeability rating here, so we will not invent one.

What can I carry on top of the closed cover?

Up to 400 lb, and only if that weight is laid across the deck rather than concentrated. The rating exists because the structure is aluminum slats rather than fabric over bows. Rest one heavy object on a single slat and you are outside what the number describes. Tying a load down to the cover's own frame is separately listed as something that ends the warranty.

Is it safe to leave tools in the bed overnight?

This is the reason the cover exists, and it is the honest dividing line between it and the soft covers, which fasten but do not lock at all. A slatted aluminum surface cannot be sliced open the way a fabric one can, and closing it sets a patented level-2 lock plus a tension cable and up to six catches. That said, no bed cover is a safe. It removes the easy opportunity rather than defeating a determined effort.

Can I drive with the cover retracted?

Yes, once it is strapped. Bring it forward against the bulkhead and secure both straps before moving. Stowed like that it stays low enough that the view through the back glass is unaffected. Driving with it partly retracted and unstrapped is the one thing to avoid: that is how a cover ends up flogging itself against the tailgate, and the damage is not covered.

Does installing it mean drilling the truck?

No. The rails come cut to your truck and bed and level themselves, gripping the bed's inner lip under clamp pressure with nothing cut, bored or permanently changed. Most owners finish in half an hour with ordinary hand tools. Pick your vehicle above and the guide for that exact application is linked on its page.
